    Also, one time, in 2010, i took one of the RC car bases and took the wheels off of it and stuck the motor into an 8 wide murdered out custom monorail. It only had one speed when you hit the throttle. The monorail was so big that it needed a lot of track and a large radius so i never saw it run in full glory.

    I still have the original Lego monorail from when I was a kid. I took it out and built it a couple years ago, put in a new battery and it worked perfectly! Lego quality at its best!
    This is so awesome, I need to see what I can build with these mods!

    Really enjoyed following the streams where this concept was discussed. To see it finally complete is so epic, even though it ended up like an electrical Rube Goldberg haha. My experience is moreso in Mindstorms, so seeing more potential out of Lego's other electrical components are inspiring!

    I've been pondering building my own custom Space theme that is reminiscent of the stuff from the '80s and '90s, and I'm intending to make it have a color scheme that looks great under a black light. I'd been looking at various monorail builds, including the one made out of regular bricks and motors, and none of the old monorail parts. I think I'll have to combine that idea with this idea so I could do all kinds of crazy things.
    I've even got the idea that I should make it a space city, and the train would connect to different parts of the city, too.

    This! Is! So! Awesome! I got my first Futuron monorail about six months ago and a second about two weeks after that and a track pack about two weeks after that. Can’t wait to see how you incorporate all the hardware into a build, I’m sure it will look amazing.

      That’s awesome! That might be my white whale. I have many parts for it, but I’ve never had it complete and I’d love to have the box. I’m sure I’ll get my hands on it one day! Thanks for watching 😁

    That was great. I have been using Mindstorms to manipulate the stop switch and switch tracks, but control the train looks great. Need to get more Powered up parts. Only one i have is stuck in the Liebherr.

    Wow! This is too cool. The monorail 6990 was my favorite set of all time. I love what you figured out! so cool! I love that you have the imagination of a kid still. That Brick Rogers set is so cool. I love how it pays homage to the old Buck Rogers comics.

    This video is, hands down, by far, the BEST brick tutorial I have come across...ever. It's informative, insightful, pushes the envelope of what you can do, explained in an understandable manner, and uncovers & uses info hidden deep in the LEGO'verse. AFOL Spotlight is cool, and build challenges are fun, but THIS was mindblowing and brilliant! Guess I'm a LEGO techie at heart.

    I love your positivity and enthusiasm. I know the Powered Up system is kind of a tricky system to work with, especially with the way it is at the moment and its progression to make it more usable, but it's nice to see that you were able to get it working. I don't have any Powered Up components, but I'm really interested in them. Hopefully I can get my hands on some soon and try this out myself.

      So... I wonder if it is possible to run the sensor simultaneously as an IR transmitter and color sensor... 🤔

    • @blamos86
      @blamos86 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have no idea, I thought that maybe you could switch the grid over to EV3 and program a series of stations with Monorail trains, and have a complex network set up. I think you're probably on the right track (pun intended) in thinking it would require more train-activated control processes, rather than pre-programmed or timing-based. Color sensor-based sounds like a swell idea. I call Red- for my M-Tron train I'm working on!

    Great video! Loved it!
    I would totally try this, except I don’t have a Monorail 😢
    With all the stuff on the train I wonder what the range of the color-sensor-gone-IR-transmitter is. Maybe you could leave that stationary next to the track (or in some elevated position) if the signal is strong enough to reach the IR receiver anywhere on the track?

    • @BooneBuilds
      @BooneBuilds  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think that’s a great idea! Perry actually thought of that too, but since I wasn’t building a world for this particular test monorail to exist in, I didn’t try to mess with that. I do think it would need to be higher up, directed down word. Maybe at the top of a mountainous outpost!?

    Is it possible to control the monorail you set up with the Bluetooth remote control from LEGO not the app?

    • @BooneBuilds
      @BooneBuilds  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With the way this works currently, the Bluetooth remote would not control it all, unless you reprogrammed it to run these sequences (which is also a new feature of the latest release) but that still requires the app. However, using just the Power Functions infrared receiver with the adapter cable to the monorail motor certainly would allow you to control the monorail remotely with the power functions infrared remote. I didn’t talk about that in this video but I’m happy to answer any questions you might have if you decide to go that direction.
