Your demo is so much better than other videos because you explained HOW TO START FROM THE VERY EDGE! Thank you for the tip about making a "tail" of thread to hold and line up the edge of the fabric. Much appreciated! 🤗
I have tried to do a rolled hem on and off for a while with absolutely no success. All the tutorials I have watched make it look easy but in reality they all failed to explain the important how and why. You, however showed and explained the how and the why and the where’s of this infuriating but fabulous little rolled hem foot. Yesss, I have success. Not perfect yet, but not too far away. Thank you lovely lady.
This is the best video I have reviewed. You are the only one that showed how to place the fabric and begin sewing. Thank you for taking time to explain what you were doing. Great video.
That was the simplest explanation I have seen for a rolled hem foot.Others I've seen have said to hold up the fabric at a certain angle as it goes into the foot. Yours worked. Thank you.
I’ve watched SO many videos on this and have yet to find one that covers the start and finish of a rolled hem on a skirt or top, so a circle and how the beginning joins with the end in that complete circle of the hem.
Just made a kite and did the hems with the normal foot but it was hard work. Found a generic rolled hem foot for £2.80 so thought it was worth a try. Thanks for the demo! 👍😎
Hi Sophia, brilliant tip for leading threads and keeping the edge of fabric to the edge of the foot. Will be using this method next time, hopefully will stop me swearing!
I have finally been able to complete a perfect straight line! How do you feed the fabric around curves when it on the bias, I always seem to get to much, then too little fabric. Can’t seem to keep in consistant
That is super tricky! Might be easier to sew a straight line first without the rolled hem foot so you have a marker? Plus it'll stop it stretching out on the bias cut parts. x
Some great tips, thank you. I have mixed results with rolled hems! I especially struggle with more silky fabrics in getting the fabric started. Any tips around this type of slippery fabric? Thanks
My advice would be to start your stitches whilst also sewing through a piece of 'Stitch'n'Tear' or similar to support it at the start, once you have it fed it should be consistent. Just take it slow and steady. x
Yes just start your 'small stitches' to get it started right on the edge of the hem, then as you go round you won't be able to feed the fabric into the foot when it's near the start but it should line up perfectly to top stitch the last bit in place. I can do a video on this if that would help? x
This is helpful, but what what do you do when you get to a seam? I tried to use my foot and the fabric immediately jammed when I got the seam because of the extra fabric. Any suggestions?
i don’t know if the foot i got is shitty, but the hem rolls the wrong way (so it’s not encased in the fabric) and i can’t figure out what is going wrong

This isn't sewing; this is magic, and the inventor is a magician.
Thank you so much! x

Aww thank you so so much! Glad I could help in some way. x
Love it thank you I've been trying but better now I've watched this video thank you
Thank you dear. You just taught me what this little thing-a-ma-doodle is!
Thank you, Jessie. I needed to look at this twice, and you made this clear.

Oh my gosh, this was so helpful! I had trouble getting started and the pull threads will help a lot!
Thank you so much! x
Thank you for making a straight forward video. I’m going to practice tomorrow.

Great tutorial, worked a dream, thank you. 😊

What a big help!!

@@Jessalli what a great idea - I’ll definitely try that. And practice a lot too Thank you so much. 👍
Any tips for when I am altering a store dress--shortening it. I have issues with the foot going over the side seams...
Yes that is tricky, the hemmer feet don't like bulky seams. Can you cut away any bulk that's hidden when the rolled hem would be complete?x
Sophia, is it the same principle if you are sewing a hem that’s continuous, like on a skirt? I can’t quite get how you would start.

So good great teaching … Thankyou ❤️
Thank you so much! You are so welcome! 🧡
Tjank you great video
Great tip….thanks! 🙏
Thank you! x
This was a problem of mine, thanks a lot
You're welcome! x
This is helpful, but what what do you do when you get to a seam? I tried to use my foot and the fabric immediately jammed when I got the seam because of the extra fabric. Any suggestions?
Do you mean like a corner? I would personally stop and slide it out of the foot and sew the last bit without it. x
Brilliant thankyou
Thank so much for watching! x
Thank you

Oh like it's rolling it underneath? How strange!
Hi Sophia I hope you going to do your doorstop. I bought my fabric so I can make them. Thank you.
Hi Tracy! Yes you can find the pattern here: www.jessalli.com/product-page/pocket-doorstop-pattern x
It would be good if you could have shown all 4 sides as two straights in easy.
Thank you for going slow!!! It lowered my frustration level immediate to hear your machine going chug chug and not zippity zip!!!
Haha You're welcome! x
