I am pretty sure Gundams and Armor Cores would stomp Battlemechs hard as a result of Battlemechs being more realistic.
Thought I would love to see Battletech with 40K. I have seen some crossovers but they mostly seemed to focus on Space Marines which really seems like missing the point/wasted opportunity. A Battlemech Regiment of the Imperial Guard (maybe with some Warhammer-ification, like Lascannons instead of Large Lasers etc) would be amazing to see, as would Imperial Knights in the Inner Sphere.

@@gokbay3057actually based off the timescale and "accurate size scale" (which is pure bullshit) Battletech move about as fast as the MTs from Armored Core 6, and when they have jump jets jump similarly to the ACs. Though classic UC Gundam Mobile Suits and Armored Core would of course out perform them by simple virtue of high impact versatile weaponry (Gundam) and easy customization and mobility (AC)
Aside: my friend and I actually worked on figuring out an AC TT crossover of the AC mechs, rule of thumb here, but basically their run and jump distances get a +2 move distance over mechs, and they have far more components that would be considered "Omni" than even a clan mech... Though ironically the MTs for the most part would be considered dog shit compared to a medium mech or even a light mech. Also the limited allowed weapons is would give a Battletech mech an edge.
As for Gundam well as I said, versatile weaponry, but really worse than even AC in that regard especially since a Beam Cannon at the most powerful from the UC is only as strong as the PPC of a dropship and that's got like 15 shots max and is being carried by a hero mech or is a weapon that weighs nearly as much as the Assault mech weighted Mobile Suit, and most Beam weapons on mechs are instead compatable to a Heavy PPC/ER PPC hybrid. Which yay for power... Booo for when your dice roll misses and that's literally the only weapon your mech is carrying.

On the FedSuns drifting towards behaving like the Dracs, that is actually the central point of tension in their rivalry. The FedSuns do the same awful stuff the Dracs do, fully willing to send a mech company into a riot for negotiation by heavy machinegun. The only real difference between the two is the FedSuns seem to genuinely believe that one day (and it has been 300 years since the fall of the Star League) it can all be undone and we go back to limited local democracy and freedom. The Dracs OTOH say "nope machinegun civilians forever, why change something that works?".
The Dracs are annoyed that a very successful neighbouring state is successful by behaving like them while holding their nose, why can't they see this is just the right way? OTOH the FedSuns look at the Dracs insistence that horrific totalitarian state forever is the solution with horror.

Aw yeah. I've been looking forward to this one. Mainly because I feel confident you're going to enjoy yourself.
I like to describe the Combine as Imperial Japan times Feudal Japan in space. Generally not a faction I'd want to associate long term with even if the most common role of player characters wasn't in the state's crosshairs as a general rule for some of the popular eras. Still, they have some nice toys in some of the eras, and salvage/non-normal acquisition is there for getting the toys of people you don't like. They also have the strongest aesthetic/cultural theming in their arsenal of the great houses.
My not infrequent leanings toward Davion may or may not have something to do with ideas I have for helping autocannons catch up with the power escalation over the eras.
Unsurprisingly, the Confederation really came into their own with the rediscovery/reinvention of electronic warfare and stealth tech, even making prototype efforts into that kind of R&D BEFORE the Helm Memory Core was found.
Sometimes there is court infighting and backstabbing, though at least one high ranker had the good sense to cede her power over perpetuating a cycle of vengeance, albeit warning the recipient that she would fight back if they wanted her life on top of her power.
Marik is pretty solid HRE in space. Good middle or second of the bracket faction in a lot of ways. Rarely the main focus, but still an important player. And they're pretty interesting under the hood. Though they notably lack in PPC production for quite a while. Not to say that the other houses didn't have materiel production shortcomings of their own during and after the Succession Wars, but it is funny when one of the iconic Assaults associated with the FWL is PPC boat in its original stock loadout.
The Lyrans are the German Engineering meme but with scale usually over complexity, fat stacks, and the eve of WWI incompetence.
Ah yes, the Atlas Scout Lance short. Tex has hired many lovely artists, including an animator/storyboarder known as DC Bruins. They've got a couple other shorts, but the one with the costumed Atlas lance making a mockery of some world is the most complete. Also not representative since this is a lot goofier than their other stuff.
2 of the short animatics by Bruins are set in the Rasselhague Republic. Good stuff. Would love to see them fully animated as part of a larger project. And fun fact, after so long under Kuritan rule, the official language is a mixture of Swedish and Japanese.
For now, we're still waiting on the professor's summary on the Periphery states, so in the meantime Mechanicalfrog's night class videos have been how I've filled in the gaps. Good guy if you want to know about different designs of battle armor.

He did this by having the various worlds of the CC painted on the wedding china and announcing the opening shots of the Fourth Succession War in his wedding speech. This was both amusing and astounding to most of his wedding guests. These gifts are the assorted heads of state of the other houses, as well as influential mercenary commanders, like Jaime Wolf.
This was utterly horrifying to Maximilian Liao, who started scrambling around and snatching up plates in a frenzy, ordering his daughters to do the same. As gifts go, it was quite ambitious, and all the more justification for Hanse's nickname: The Fox.
33:26 As context, Tex married a Clan Ghost Bear Elemental, and they subsequently divorced and she has been making his life a merry hell ever since. She's even in possession of his previous arm. Whether she removed his actual arm during their fallout, or if she has a former prosthetic of his, I'm not entirely sure. Being an Elemental, the former would not surprise me one bit.

I swear some of the things the Imperium does make the Great Houses seem reasonable. Even House Liao to some extent but not much because the Capellans are already morally bankrupt.
Btw if there’s any other Black Pants Legion videos you should/need to watch, here they are in order:
The Amaris Civil War parts 1 & 2
    A Primer on The Clanners parts 1 & 2
And finally the Mackie: the First Battlemech
(A bound one being the Urbanmech aka the greatest weapon ever built by human hands)

There are more mechs there...but he can't remember where it is.

@@gokbay3057 response: it’s just the sheer numbers difference, if Battletech was the same size then they’d do pretty well.

    • @gokbay3057
      @gokbay3057 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@Azorees-oj5zr Also true, on the lower level Battletech is very much competitive.
However 40K doesn't just mean the Imperium and on the higher end there are some utterly broken OP stuff that Battletech can't do much at (I mean, I am sure enough long toms, nukes etc will kill stuff just like Imperium manages but y'know) in 40K.
Like an IG force vs an Inner Sphere force of equal size without mechs (maybe some bug mechs as an equilavent to Sentinels) I would give that fight even odds, maybe even somewhat leaning towards Battletech winning.
And I can see Heavy Mechs (perhaps even some Medium Mechs) beat Knights (probably not in all cases but definitely very competitive odds).
An Elemental might well be superior to a random average Space Marine.
But 40K has much crazier things in setting than Battletech.
