For me, Chuck is the GOAT! He took the brutal genre of blood, guts, and death (that we all proudly love to lose our minds to) and molded it into a more positive, truth-seeking, philosophical warrant of self-reflection. He did this all while completely mastering the art of expression through his chosen instrument. The man was an absolute genius! I would honestly trade all the 200 or so concerts I've been to, for a chance to see Chuck just once! RIP brother! You are greatly missed!
Awesome! Thank you Relapse Records for keeping Chucks name and his band Death alive and well with reproducing their amazing 7 albums! #LetTheMetalFlow \m/ (>
@@eldritchtales4808 lol well that's one of their biggest draws was Death and their popularity is still growing so it's relevant to continue putting death related stuff out so doesnt bother me! Just hope the proceeds go to the right people
This was my first real death metal tape ever bought, back when I was 12 or 13 and didn't know literally anything about this style of music. 20 years have passed but I'm still loving it, so much good memories...
I'm listening to the best of death and I love it!!! RIP chuck and Sean I'm also chekcing out Voodoocult - Jesus Killing Machine since I heard Chuck did guitar on this album with this band.
This was the album that introduced me to DEATH. When i was 10 my cousin saw me putting a S.O.A.D. CD on my CD Player and said "so you like metal huh" then goes to his room and comes back with this CD and just gave it to me. When i played it, it was way too extreme for me ngl but then it just grew on me. Can't believe it's been over 20 years and this band is still #1 in my books.
I've listened to, and been a huge fan of DEATH & Chuck's music since I first heard them in 1987 or 1988, both of first 2 albums out at the time absolutely blew me away. I couldn't ever get enough of the band. No matter which album or line-up was coming out next. As each album that followed came out, the anticipation of waiting for that day had me impatiently brimming with suspense at needing to hear what Chuck & the band had in store for us! This "Best of..." compilation release obviously came out following the 4th album, Human & the remaining 3 were yet to be created. I remember when this first came out, a good friend of mine had his copy. At that time, I didn't yet know it existed, but I was amazed & of course, very excited to get myself a copy. I've kept my eye out for it ever since then. That was the ONLY time, all the way up until now, I have seen or heard this release. Why has it been so elusive for so many years (around 3 decades) like it never existed? Soooo rare of a find...why?
This best of album should include 4 Songs from each of the 4 albums. That would have made it a nearly perfect compilation. In fact, compiling all songs from theses first 4 albums would be a pure perfection.
Pretty sure some random white collar in some office at Relativity compiled the tracklist randomly in five minutes. This compilation is pure cash grab, Relativity did the same with Dark Angel, Possessed, et cetera.
Awesome! I had this as a teenager in the 90's when I first got into Death, but then lost it along the way. Even though I now have all of the material on other albums, it's really cool to hear this track list again and to see that cover. Brings back memories. Thanks for uploading!
Scream Bloody Gore has Scream Bloody Gore. Leprosy has Leprosy. Spiritual Healing has Spiritual Healing. Individual Thought Patterns has Individual Thought Patterns. Symbolic has Symbolic. Only Human and The Sound Of Perseverance have no Human and no The Sound Of Perseverance, respectively. Interestingly, these two albums were turning points of Chuck's music endeaver.

I was just remembering this the other day. It was the first death album I had gotten. I had a bassplayer magazine with Steve digiorio in it, said he played with autopsy and death, so I looked them up and loved it, I was maybe 15. I was just blown away by chucks sound. When TSOP came out, I was just floored. Rest in Peace Chuck, your music and message throughout is immortal!
Honestly, (imo), Chuck set the bar soo high (Standards) , I dont think its even possible to 1-up him! I mean coming from me , a 20+ year metal guitarist myself....Chuck literally had it all! The massive pile of technique, some of which he basically invented, sort of like a scale , the Speed, not just picking Very fast, but being able to switch up Time signatures soo well, He play Phenominal Lead & Rhythm Guitar, (alot of guitarists focus mainly on 1 or the other / myself I am more of a rhythm player) His creativity ability was unparralled at the time, He did his own vocals VERY WELL while playing INCREDIBLY good at the same time.. soo much to consider.
This is really a greatest hits album. It really pisses me off that there's no spiritual healing on Live in LA. So this album I favor more. Obviously, SH is my favorite all-time death album.
Para mim os melhores albuns são os 3 primeiros...os restantes, experiências mais ou menos falhadas... Não estou a dizer que o tipo não era bom musico, mas, Death, são os 3 primeiros álbuns...
funny cause you could include every death song ever in the best of death album cause chuck never wrote a bad song

There will never be another band Like DEATH!

Best band ever, I never run or hit the gym without blasting a few of these songs.
