    1-7-2023 hello I recently got the GWM5610u and I was wondering are there different levels of low medium high in regards to power .meaning can you be in medium ,go out in the sun then be on high but if you stayed out in the sun you would get higher. Hope that makes sense.Wis-I like that!

    I have a G-Shock Atomic Solar watch that I bought in 2020. I've worn it everyday, since I bought it, in fact it rarely ever comes off. I wear it to bed and in the shower. The problem though is that it has never really charged above "medium" charge and, the past few months I wake up in the mornings and it flashes "low". It has even shut off completely a couple times. I do live up north and tend to wear a lot of long sleeve jackets for at least half of the year, so maybe the battery is shot now, due to spending too much time under sleeves and not exposed to the sun? I have been setting it outside recently, in an attempt to achieve a full charge, but it never gets above medium charge. Unfortunately, I live in WA state and most of our days are cloudy or overcast, so not many opportunities for direct sunlight exposure in any season, aside from summer. Any tips or suggestions? Do I need a new battery?

    • @GiShockGo
      @GiShockGo  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      If the watch charges when exposed to the sun then it’s not the battery. Might be just like you said… not enough sun exposure. If it was the battery it wouldn’t turn even after charging it. What model watch is it? Did you buy it used? Also, don’t be obsessed to getting it to high. It takes a lot to get them to high unless they’re literally exposed to the sun daily. My Solar Watch stays on high but my other Solar watches which I don’t wear regularly are at medium or low.

    • @lonewolfsurvival3453
      @lonewolfsurvival3453 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for the reply back! It is the G-Shock "Atomic Solar" model "GW-2310FB" and I purchased it new from the Casio website. The first fourish years I used it, I never even worried about actually charging it, since it stayed on everyday and it always said it was always at the medium charge level. I don't recall it ever getting to the high level, even when exposed to direct sun all day in the summer. As of now, when I leave it outside pointed up at the cloudy sky for a few days straight, it goes up to medium, but when I check in the morning it's off again and blinking "low" where the day would otherwise be shown. I guess I just assumed that the charge capacity of the battery was decreasing.

    • @GiShockGo
      @GiShockGo  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @ now don’t get me wrong. I wouldn’t fully dismiss the battery dying but for a watch you bought in 2020 thats very unlikely. Thanks for sharing that model number. So that model was first released in 2012. It didn’t sell very well so you can still find stock of it in circulation. Keep charging it and consider buying one of those chargers I reviewed in my video. They are GOLDEN!

      These times are not for charging to full. These are times required to charge for 1 day of operation. Full charge from 0 to high takes around 20 hours with 50,000 Lux. But that will last around 10 months with any light exposure.

    You just need a bright flashlight to surpass all daily charging speed. Got my gshock charged from 1/5 to 4/5 in less than 30min of exposure to a 800 Lum flashlight (not even working in full brightness). These silicon solar panels works best with visible light and stretch a little bit to the IR spectrum, so flashlights can be ideal. Though it may vary from solar panels with different brands or light source, and especially the placement of solar panels on the watch dial.

    I use an Aperture AL-F7 video light and it is effective and runs cool. It will charge 3 watches at a time. Any LED video light would work.
    I had a Coolfire but LEDs failed over time and it became ineffective. It also seemed cheaply made.

    NOT A CHANCE I will ever buy a solar watch again. This video is awesome; I learned a lot and followed either your recommended exposure time or Casio's. My solar-powered watch is staying dead anyway. Ordered a new battery CTL1616, waited an eternity for that to arrive, properly changed the battery and did a reset. Nothing. Maybe this "new" battery is ALSO no good...or maybe it's the watch. I just know both solar watches and solar batteries cost too much only to end up with something that doesn't work at all. I'm mad at my situation not the video. I'd favored this watch so much, a WS220C-7, so I'm giving the issue one more chance

    If you have a tough solar watch, buy an inexpensive small LED lamp that you can use to charge your watch at any time. If you have multiple G-Shocks, why do you have multiple watches? Well, you bought the G-shock because it's indestructible and will last you a lifetime, right? So you all own that many watches? Choose one, you can charge it with the small LED charger that I talked about at the beginning of my post and sell the rest to hell! Just kidding. :)

    I regret getting a solar power zi rather deal with changing batteries. This solar is if you live in a sunny warm State, well that’s not NY I am with a jacket it’s very hard to keep the watch out to charge. It’s not worth it but again that’s just my experience with it. Not getting any. I have one and I can NEVER use it because of this stupidity solar charging. Not my type of watch. Unless I live in Florida or California. Warm beautiful. Not Ny. this is a place to come work put some cash away and moving the hell out as quick as you can. It’s a very dirty place. More so than a third world Country. But because is NY people overlook the garbage, rats and Al the rude people.
