It’s hard to believe the Xbox One has been around for nearly 5 years. After it’s terrible announcement at E3 2013 where everything seemingly went wrong for Microsoft, the console has done fairly well. Sure, they had to backtrack on a few things, but Microsoft slowly got their groove back. The Xbox One is currently being outsold 2 to 1 by the PlayStation 4 and has also been getting outsold by the Nintendo Switch since the hybrid console launched, but the Xbox One is not far behind.
The Xbox One is such an incredible console capable of doing so much, but, if you want to keep the system in tip top shape, you have to put some effort into maintaining it. In this video, we won’t focus on what you should do to your Xbox One, but rather what you shouldn’t do to the console.

that's for troubleshooting resetting(clear all content or keep and do manufacture rest)or do offline update (with usb stick)

To those of you questioning the thumbnail...
Pressing the eject, bind/pair and power buttons at the same time will boot the Xbox One into the _Hidden Troubleshooting Mode._ This is a mode for when you want to update the console via USB stick or reset the console if it’s bricked or not working right. Don’t worry, it won’t harm your Xbox. It’s really only needed for emergencies, and I even used it once when my WiFi wasn’t working and I had to update it from USB stick.

Elite Scout if they are eneloops I know exactly what your talking about. Same 4 batteries since I had my original Xbox one. Now using those with my One X. Don’t even think I could do the math with how much money I’ve saved not buying normal batteries or those stupid rechargeable battery packs that die within a year.

Some of these things almost gave me an aneurysm I’m a Xbox modded myself, and for one the Xbox one “jail break” isn’t called a jtag a jtag is for the older Xbox 360’s not the Xbox one and those third party controllers are awesome. Also if you just use compressed air and spray out the vents will not clear all the dust. Yes it may loosen the dust but you have to take the lid and fan off to clean the heatsink, if you spray compressed air into the system you spin the fan up and create back voltage which could cause problems. So if your gonna perform maintenance on your console look it up how to do it and take pictures so you don’t forget how to put it back together, don’t just spray air into it and call it a day.
I've definitely taken mine apart. Had to, the entire thing sheet metal that runs around the outside of the motherboards little vents were all clogged. My Xbox started overheating and shutting down. After I TOOK it apart and cleaned it all was good

Yeah just buy two controllers and charge one battery while using the other controller, the battery will last longer and so will the controllers.
That's Hilarious how my Xbox one that I got from 2016's controller broke within a week. So I got a third-party one back then and I still use it today. And it's actually better than the one that came with the console.

Third party controllers are perfectly fine. I have a PDP Afterglow Prismatic controller (the newer model of the first controller you showed), and I’ve used it for a long time and it works just fine. It’s extremely durable and the USB has even survived being bent and ripped out of the console.

By the way the little circle next to the cut line that's for taking discs out the black dot just left of the the turn on button on the xbox is to switch a controller to a xbox and the black button with a xbox simbel is the turn on botton

Spraying compressed air into a console from the outside will only move the dust around inside your console. Sometimes a little of it may escape from the other vents but mostly it just moves. This can cause shorts and other problems if you're unlucky. And never blow compressed air into the disc drive - more than likely you will damage your console and require a new drive.

The Xbox One WAS actually designed to watch Television on, on the original console, with the addion of the USB TV tuner, and either the Kinect or an IR blaster extension; the console not only acted as a TV with interactive Guides and PVR, but it could also Control your TV, Surround Sound System and even your Cable Box - this is why there is also a HDMI Input at the back of the console aswell. You don't have to change source on your TV at all, just do it all through the Xbox menue. To take this one step further the Xbox One S and X consoles have the IR Blaster already built in - no need for a Kinnect or IR Extensions anymore.

I'm actually a professional tech fixer and I can recommend it's fine to take it apart, use alcohol if you really want to use chemicals but not recommended,,,,I'm currently taking mine apart to change the wlan module and re change the 0603 led from a white one to a purple one

Hey :) you seem to know what youre talking about. I recently was setting up a xbox series s and stupidly turned the xbox off during the first 20 seconds of the initial installation then 10/20 seconds after turned it off at the wall. Everything's fine loading up and doing the update again but I was wondering could there be damage done? Could it be slower now than it should? Or am I stressing/overthinking & need to chill?

I washed mine in the bath and it still works 100% even after being FULLY submerged in water and then dried in the tumble dryer.
Out of my personal experiences the power a wired controllers are the best way to go if you don't wanna pay 60-80 for a new controller

@TheFadingGamer never i know some people do with some headset, but would like to ask, are you using the 3.5mm jack built into the new controller and not the adapter, also if you have the betterys in still then that might cause the issue, another thing could be headset amp, some headset need slightly more/less amp so i use a SteelS Artic 3 and i'v had other till with no issue only with Turtlebeach i'v had issue with buzzing ( but that because Turtle beach Suck 😂

For cleaning the surface do use electronic wipes then like the ones that feel dry

I have 4 rechargeable AA batteries every time two run out i simply put them in the charger and use the other two, I have been using them for a year now I only bought them for $18 including the charger that's far more better than buying a ton of batteries every month

Really? I haven't seen a brand in 30yrs of gaming that puts out accessories that are as reliable and well built as first party stuff. A good one every once in a while sure... but as a broke kid I got burned too many times by cheap controllers. Unless you can afford to waste the money... go for the sure bet.
I cringed when I saw the Duke remake was made by hyperkin... but that's a limited use controller that spends most of its time on display, and I'm an adult with disposable income.
Hori and Power A are both good example, especially Hori make great controllers for the cost. Madcatz back in the day was not bad, now...yeah. Even Hyperkins controllers are not that terrible. My point is that I see these videos being posted, and every time you can tell no research or half assed glancing was done for it.

I've got a PDP Afterglow controller, had it for a while and it's been perfect, no dead zones or drifts, all buttons work perfectly with excellent response times. Plus it's licensed by Microsoft 🤔
I bought a wireled amazon controler it's pretty solid and I don't have to worry about the battery dying sometimes you want that. For 20 bucks worth it for a second player controler. Long cord too

Factual Errors:
1. The Xbox security hasn't been hacked... AT ALL! The video shown is for a 360!
2. motherboards can get wet, as long as specific Preparations are met.
Well I have a third party controller licensed by xbox and the joystick didn't fall off and the wire included was 2 or 3 meters long
I love the battery option of the controller, you can use AA batteries, AA rechargeable batteries, a rechargeable kit or the cable. If your battery is depleted, you can jut change it. I don`t known why the complains about it, you don`t need a second controller nor use a cable if you don`t want, just have 2 pairs of rechargeable batteries.

the one thing I thought sucked about the Xbox one after I switched out my PS4 for it was the battery issue. But then I realized, Batteries only have so many charge cycles before they start messing up (had this issue with my PS3) and this eliminates that issue thus making your controller future proof. Such a simple solution unlike the PS4. I have a universal battery charger I use for vaping so I bought a set of 4 rechargeable AA batteries and never have a problem. As soon as one set dies I throw them on the charger and pop the other set in, so I'm always ready to go. It costed me like $15. So when the life of these batteries are up I simply will spend another $15 instead of the PS4 solutions which are buying a replacement battery and ripping the thing open or spending $60 on a new controller.
