My Mom owns a red 2009 Toyota Corolla CE base model. Her corolla is the most barebones and basic Corolla you can find yet, heck it doesn't even have power windows. The lack of power windows is okay with her, because she thinks power windows are a safety hazard. Oh and I'm gonna tell you a story. Before we bought the Corolla, we test drove a silver Chevy Cobalt and it would have been a good replacement to the Alero, but my Mom and Dad didn't like it and not to mention, my Dad thought that the Cobalt was a piece of junk. So we bought the red Corolla instead. My Mom also doesn't like driving SUVs, because she had bad experience with one when she rolled over a Jeep Cherokee when I was born, but luckily we all survived. Oh and one more thing, the reason why my Mom prefers the Corolla over the Civic, is because she thinks the Civic is small compared to the Corolla.
Look, both the Civic and Corolla suffered greatly from Los of overall quality and refinement in this generation, though perhaps the Corolla a bit more, but I'd still love a Corolla just like this far more than I'd ever want a Civic from this generation. Honestly, it really came down to personal preference and needs when buying either the Honda or Toyota in this generation.
Idk what you mean , This gen of Corolla and the Ufo Civic (that is how we call it here in europe at least) are a step up in quality compared to their prev generation
The 9th gen Corollas were much nicer. I used to drive a 2006 Corolla S. If I bought a 10th gen Corolla I would have gone with the XRS cause it has the larger 2.4L engine & a better 5-speed auto.
I've driven one of these before, the steering was way too light, the seats were hard as a rock, the dash rattled like crazy when driving on a crappy road, and the brake pedal was very cumbersome!
The corolla models 2009-2013 only had remote keyless entry as an option on le and standard on higher models. The corolla models 2014 present had an option for smart key on the S model
123chunhou how come i saw a black button on the door handle, and an engine start stop button on an 09? And when i went to the dealer there was a 2011 corolla with the sunroof and smart key package?
That's an American LE? Here in Canada our LE's have wood trim interior, with push start, smart key access, padded centre console, and touch screen infotainment centres.
RCGCarReviews videoed an S model with leather a while back and Ive seen a few XLE models with leather and auto climate controls. Corolla's with factory leather do exist but they're really rare to find.
I would go for the civic because this gen Corolla is not to my type because I don't like the hard touch door panel and dashboard but one thing that tited me of was the hard touch center console and no USB port but I do like the heated mirrors on the Corolla and the rear cup holders but in my mind I would go for the civic just because it gives you more features with it but that's just me
Just recently graduated highschool, and got this Corolla as my first car.
How is it because I’m thinking about getting this as my fist car as well
@@thomask5935 It’s good, reliable, and overall cost efficient to maintain.
@@lordinsidious9672 Thank you so much thats so helpful
"I'm not trying to make this a comparison video" THEN WHY DID YOU COMPARE IT IN EVERY OTHER SENTENCE?
It was a good review, but I came here for a review of this car, not for you to compare it to the Civic every other sentence.
He said he's not trying to maker it into a comparison video..Too late. LOL

Great job Garrison, in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 there is a lot of Toyota Corollas on the road. Wow 😯 8 years ago time flies fast. Toyota! Let’s Go Places!
I got a 2009 and I love it
What happens in the back seat stays in the backseat :P

Just bought mine today best financial decision I ever made
I have a Corolla not fancy but dependable.
This is not a tour of a 2009 Toyota Corolla LE, it's more of a comparison with a Honda Civic! Totally out of context!
mehdouch80 & why in tf is you worried about it??!

Honda fanboy reviewing a Corolla.
It looks clean the whole inside is clean
nice 2009 corolla le car
I was about to get this same car but I fell inlove with my honda
It’s actually more comfortable

Great car
"Oo this is really stained up"😂😂
Corolla has a better corrusion resistance than a civic
It would be minus well if you had to do a review on the Honda civic!
Hondas are sexy but Toyotas are more practical.
thank you might buy this car. hmm
"complete with dash clunking" XD
Super carro!
I came so close to buying this as my second car but I'm loyal to my Hondas lol. My brother is a Toyota guy haha. 😇
I'd take the corolla over the civic
I've driven one of these before, the steering was way too light, the seats were hard as a rock, the dash rattled like crazy when driving on a crappy road, and the brake pedal was very cumbersome!
I love mine! :P
The Corolla had smart key too
The corolla models 2009-2013 only had remote keyless entry as an option on le and standard on higher models. The corolla models 2014 present had an option for smart key on the S model

Hat probably was the limited edition xrs model which was a limited production
NO it wasn't it was an s and I built and priced one a few years ago and there was an option for smart key. But I'm in Canada so it might be different
+123chunhou yes Canada has the smart key option for 2009 for the Corolla le...just sold one today.

Adam G ya it's from 2009 duh
Toyota introduced a touch screen in 2013 and the 11th generation introduced for 2014, Toyota introduced it's Etunes infotainment system
Canada is in America!
If I'm not mistaken, I don't believe this gen even had the option for leather. You'd have to go aftermarket for that.
RCGCarReviews videoed an S model with leather a while back and Ive seen a few XLE models with leather and auto climate controls. Corolla's with factory leather do exist but they're really rare to find.
They deleted leather heated seats and auto climate for 2011 but the older ones never had them anyway
thecarexpert21 it had leather interior as a option
Would've liked the video, but WAYYYYY too much comparisons to the Honda, especially for a REVIEW video
No Aux?😒
It can't be helped, but it's cheaper than the latest 2020 or 2021 models.
Manudo como gira las perillas
I don’t like how the dash radio area loojs
I Need One

Punctuation. Try it :)
I've never heard of a "Honda fanboy" in America
Civic can't make an Auto Trans anymore either. It's a Toyota. It needs no comparison. Maybe you could sell for Honda?
Toby Williams what lol shush you sound stupid
Worst tour ever🤦🏻♂️😂
مر
Pointless ...
you forgot to mention how the Civic is fun to drive and the Corolla drives like a pile of crap
The Civic was fun to drive before 2012. Not so much anymore.
The 2013 model still doesn't drive as nicely as the 8th generation model.
Civic couldent ride like a xrs or keep up with one tf😂
@@hondaftw1234 Hate the CVT lag on stop lights and freeways.
