Tom’s Pens and Ink are among my favorites. And I really like the change up on your channel - I wasn’t a fan of your journaling vids but absolutely love your pen vids. It’s a great niches and your infectious enthusiasm really makes for an entertaining and informative session.
Thanks for a FAB review and the 10% code. Mine arrived today and i can't stop using it!! As a coloured pencil realist artist, with a bit of ocd regarding equipment this is just perfect I love everything about it from shape, weight and line width to the array of gorgous colours inks. I filled mine with Juniper for my journal writing (so easy to fill) and have a few brighter colours for handmade stationary, envelopes and zentagling ideas etc. I purchased the ivy but i think i need the iris as well😂!
Thank you for your review, i have been looking at making a purchase from Tom's studio for a while and when i was researching on the website i decided the Wren was the one for me. Ive ordered it today and used your discount code, can't wait to receive it and try it out!
I ordered this in Sage yesterday. I loved the way the Lumos wrote, and the way the aluminum felt, but I wanted it to be bigger and wanted the cap to be less fiddly to post.
Mine has just arrived, you can also mix and match so you can have a different cap to body. I love the fountain pens and the Lumos. Big fan, great video
Do I ned to another pen? Probably not, but that's not going to stop me from adding it to my order. 😅I'm glad it takes me a while to order things. Thanks for making a video about it. Now to decide on what color to get. 🤔
Haha you sound like me with pens 😆 I didn’t get to choose a color combo - but love the idea of doing that. I probably would have over thought it anyways. Maybe it was easier to send a solid color 🤣
Thanks for your review. I bought a Wren pen using your code and expected to receive what you showed. However I just received the pen in a tatty outer box with no samples or leaflet. Nothing like what you depicted !
Thank you for the video. Do you know, if the ink is lightfastness/pigment based? I thought I read it somewhere, but there is no info on the website. At least none that I could find.
Thanks for the detailed review! I was looking for something to replace my Ferris Wheel Press rollerball pen. I keep it inked with my favorite fountain pen ink but the plastic body is flimsy and recently cracked. This would be a nice upgrade!
Mine is on the way! Over the ocean as I type. Was the midnight a good grip? I got a Midnight pen body and an Iris pen cap. After the order, I got further information that said Midnight and Black had a texture finish while the others have grooves. Shiny pens tend to slip for me (even though they are so pretty!) and I usually don’t like grooves so I think I got lucky by picking what I picked. All a matter of preference. I have the Raspberry Lumos mini and it has been fine but I don’t use it a ton, yet. I bought extra reservoirs, extra tips for The Wren, and jars. I saw the tips aren’t compatible between Lumos and The Wren but I hope the reservoirs will be. I have some inks that I thought I’d use with a dip pen but the dip pen is not holding my interest. I like the slower pace but not that slow. Thanks for sharing the fun! Congratulations on the package!
@@denisejunker I haven’t had any issues with grip, but honestly I’d love to mix and match caps and bodies. Cant wait for you to get your pen! I really love it so much. It’s so fun and writes so well.
I have the lumos, and ordered the wren in midnight/sage as soon as I saw the announcement 😁 using the marianas ink for general writing...such a beautiful blue ink:) I think I will use the lumos now for colored inks, some green or red, perfect for correcting homework😂
Just putting my new Wrens through their paces. Clearly the best pen for on the go if you don’t want to worry about loose or liquid ink. It writes well over long passages (I just scribbled out 500 odd word and there was no serious issues using it). The only negative is darkness of ink and writing speed. If you overwrite the capillary action that feed the nib, your colour will fade. For example a 100 word paragraph was considerably darker at the beginning than at the end. Compared with a fountain pen using the same colour which maintained its saturation over the length of the paragraph. Your mileage will vary and it will vary by colour - black seems to perform the best. Non-black/ blues seem to perform less well. But for todo lists and short notes, not a problem.
@@angelinamorris5514 well it’s super fun to use and honestly you will only need to fill it every now and again. The directions are super easy and I know you can do it!
So when the reservoir runs out of ink can you add more ink or do you have to replace it? What about the nib? How often do you need to replace it? Thank you in advance for your guidance!
@@anitavela-johnson1757 you can refill with the same color or another. You can clean it out and reuse. And they do sell replacements for the nib. It’s so new for me that I’m not sure about time with it
@@markyourpages Thank you so much for your quick reply. I just ordered a Wren with extra nibs and reservoir. thank you also for the discount code! I hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving.
How do you find the pen handles curves when writing? Mine has just arrived and it's beautiful but the ink spatters a bit on curved letters, especially a g or a y
I’m using Archer & Olive notebooks and it does not bleed through the paper. I’ve also used a regular paper pad and no bleed through either. It’s wonderful :-)

They have great colors.

Sorry if I wasn’t clear about the whole package I got, but this was a promo box from them, so along with the pen were the samples.
Aah, that explains it then !
When you placed the order, they told you what you were receiving

Not that I know of. Maybe send them an email or dm on Instagram.
I've been debating a lumos for a while but can't justify the price so this is perfect for me, I just ordered one using your link. :) Great video Mark,
Yes, pretty nice price point and almost does all the same things - just a single tip vs multiple./
I ordered mine a couple of days ago. Midnight body and lilac cap. 😊
Cool color combo!
Brilliant review, this type of pen is completely new to me. I for one, do not have any problem with using water to rinse off the pen.
Thanks! I’m really enjoying the pen as just a good daily writer.

Yeah... i am not the biggest fan of the pens, myself. But to each their own. But this is a great replacement / upgrade

NIce, i like how your brain is working for the different uses.
Can you change the nibs on the wren pen as on the Lumos buying the set of nibs separately?
You can replace the nib - but you can’t change them with all the different ones like the Lumos

Great something I can get from the uk, great back story, only trouble is I've never used a pen like it 😮

Woohooo!

Even though the Lumos has more tips available, I think the Wren is better suited for me. Strongly thinking about getting one.
I’ve been using it non-stop.
Thanks for the review. Do you know if the lumos nibs are compatible with the wren?
Also, how is the wren for writing very small?
This just slides in vs the others that need to be secured. So they are a little different, but they do have refills.
Is this pen like a super smooth feel, it looks kind of velvety.
I think that it’s smooth. Maybe a little bit of texture - but nothing in really feeling. If that makes sense.
What if you want to clean the ink out of the reservoir to reuse that part? same method as with the tip?
@@satya_satori yes. In my limos video I go though the process I did.
@@markyourpages thank you! :)

Does the ink bleed through paper?

I'm not a fountain pen under, but I would get this pen
Yeah it's an easy way to get into them without all the hassle.
I’m worried that’s it a little small for everyday usage.
Posted its a regular sized pen.
Fully admitting I made an inky mess with mine 😂 I dropped the cartridge in too far!
Me too!
oh no! I am getting used to working with it more and more. I just handle lightly and hope for the best.
Why did you speed through removing the reservoir? We need to know how to not get ink all over ourselves.
I mean... not going to lie - I do as well. I just handle lightly and hope for the best
It has coating on the outside so you can grip it carefully!
Thanks for that, I didn't realise. That makes it much safer.
This pen's name is pronounced as my own name and I got so confused diring this video
Like... who keeps saying my name??? HAHA
