Will do. Yesterday morning all the buckets of water outside was frozen solid. The two buckets of water inside the coop was completely water and no ice. That’s a big bonus!
@@9252LIFE - I'd also like to see the chickens all on those high roosting bars. I wondered how they'd get up so high without a ladder, but I did see just one up there. I keep my nesting boxes (covered cat litter boxes) on the ground since it doesn't seem natural for a chicken to go up to lay her eggs. Nice coop. I recently bought a couple of those trailer wheels to put on my small coop at some point. : )
@@annwithaplan9766 those chickens pack right up there like sardines! 😆 I do find it quite miraculous how they manage to get up there. Be sure to put good supports on those wheel jacks. And only Jack it up just high enough to move the coop. I think jacking it up too high puts lots of leverage type strain on them and it could potentially break off especially on a larger size coop.
I'm sure glad you are not trudging through the miles of snow, ice and flooding creek water just to get to the pavement any longer! It's nice to see your working and building conditions are much better. I enjoy the videos much more this way. Thanks for sharing with us.
Me, too - so relieved they are at their beautiful new compound. Think I was losing some sleep as things were going downhill back at their former off-grid property - way too dangerous!
Great to see you all, I've been thinking about you all. Looking sharp there, and the girls are the sweetest ever. Happy Thanksgiving and best wishes. Look forward to seeing more please 🙏 God Bless the family.
My experience is that it is much colder at night than during the day, so while your "greenhouse coop" will heat up when the sun is shining the temps will rapidly drop once night falls. Therefore, I have two pieces of advice.... 1 - To moderate this effect (a little), it would be good to put some large black "thermal mass" containers against the back of the sunny side... Something that won't crack when frozen, but the sun can hit and warm up and hold onto the heat longer into the night. 2- Give the birds a closed-up smaller coop space inside the dark side to snuggle up into at night. Their bodies are little radiators, except in that large a space, their heat will spread all around and not keep them warm when they need it. 3- (ok--- I fibbed... 3)... Make sure you keep everything super dry in there. Birds can handle much lower temperatures in a DRY environment, then they can if their is a lot of moisture... so be prepared with good ventilation and more brown-matter (shavings/dry leaves/etc.) to dry the place out whenever needed. Happy Thanksgiving, back to the kitchen for me!
Love the chicken coop prob the best design I have ever seen and your sheep and animals are looking good happy healthy and spoiled - hello lady’s love the channel content family always following watching waiting hoping for y’all’s happiness success health !
Pro tip, make sure they have proper ventilation because moisture from the manure is what is our largest threat. They give off plenty of body heat so the number of birds should be calculated to the coop square footage properly. If you have 4000 hens in one room then warmth is never an issue. Then its wind and moisture build up. If you only have 30 or so then your space needs to be small enough to use that heat properly and be able to vent away the moisture and not allow for frost bite to occur. That Tek foil should reflect heat pretty well just be careful not to make the coop air tight. Love the build and the video. Keep it up!
Frozen eggs 🥚 are always a problem in small scale ⚖ farming.. makes you collect twice/three times a day or suffer losses. Commercial hen houses (old school non automated egg collection) the birds generate so much heat that frozen birds or eggs 🥚 are never a big issue unless you get extreme weather events.
That’s a nice coop for sure! I’m thinking you might still need a heat lamp come January up there but I could be wrong, insulation may be enough. Autumn is handy with a hammer 😊. Good job Chad and family!
Morning, Chad - I'm still so thankful & relieved your all at this new property and out of your former off-grid place. I'm sure you hear it a thousand times, but oh - what a beautiful family you have there! Happy holidays to you...
Well, Chad, you showed your fowl side in this video. These are the ones people like to watch that are interested in you, your family and your lifestyle that you originally started. Would like to see more of them more frequently but, that's your decision. I took a liking to you originally but, was only trying to give you a little constructive criticism when I mentioned what I did the last time and wasn't expecting the wrath of Chad I received back. Haven't watched any of your stuff since but doesn't look like much changed. Have a great holiday season and I won't write again. Wishing you luck and great job on the coop. Your chickens are gonna love ya!
Thank you Craig. Sometimes I like to give back constructive criticism as well. Just always remember I have thousands of people telling me what I should and shouldn’t do. It can get overwhelming and I try not to get to fired up. But I do appreciate your criticism and you did fire me up mostly because I know you are right but sometimes there’s things in my life that doesn’t always allow me to do what I really should be doing at that specific time. I just like to try different things and step back from others and see comes of it. Confusing I know. Have a great Thanksgiving Craig.

Haha spotted your kitty cat chilling in the hay, my cat also loves hanging out in the hay in my chook coop and their roosts too 😄
The cat is waiting for an opportunity to tease to death one of the chickens. That's what cats do. I can already hear you saying, "my cat never bothered one of my chickens before". Seriously!!! Have ANY of you ever had animals before???
@@ShellyDankert excuse me, are you talking to me? If so, what the hell are you talking about? I'm 38 and have grown up since childbirth with all animals intermingling on multiple farms, homes and now a property with 4 dogs, 2 cats, ducks, chickens, sheep, fish in the pond, budgies etc. Cats live with both the chickens and the budgies, the budgies have a full room in the house as free range and they go to sleep in their cage at night. Cats sleep in their room during the day whilst budgies are chilling or flying about. The cats hang with my chickens. Incase you have the nutcase thought of my dogs mauling my sheep I'll let you know now that they all hang together. Every single animal. All my life of many different animals. I'm not even going to bother telling you about the multiple different animals I had growing up in Zimbabwe and South Africa, all, every single one intermingling with each other with not a problem in the world. Oh, and my previous career, before Conservation & Ecosystem Management, I specialised in Captive & Companion Animal Husbandry. Safe to say I've been surrounded by animals and have owned a multitude of them my entire life. You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.
My, my my...methinks thou dost protest too much. Cats are opportunists. Period. I've worked with animals since you were 9 years old. No one who owns a chimp and then is attacked by it ever saw it coming. No one who owns a dog that will bite will ever admit it will maul/kill one of their grandkids...until it happens. Grow up.
@@ShellyDankert 🤣 stop pretending. I've seen your "rescued" cat video. You clearly have no clue how to read a distressed cats' mannerisms and tells. If you did indeed know anything about them you'd known to have taken that extremely malnourished and ill cat to the vet or a rescue centre as soon as possible, especially knowing it hadn't been able to go to the loo for more than 48hrs and who knows how long without food. You'd known not to give it dog food or hard biscuits as there was a huge possibility it couldn't chew as it's too weak and most likely had abscesses in it's mouth or on teeth. You'd known not to let it clamp down on the shoe string because of those likely possilities, nor would you have tried to get it to "play" at that stage of it's weak being. So much more that I observed but it'll most likely fall on deaf ears. One absolutely appalling observation is you stating "gotta work on getting those claws removed", wtf?! How would you cope getting your natural anatomy that you rely on for so many purposes, ripped off your fingers? What is wrong with you. It's a wonderful thing that you rescued a creature, but please don't pretend that you know anything about them. Particularly that you know anything about well trained, well fed and looked after home pets such as 925's cat and any pet cat for that matter. They are not wild, desperate for food opportunists. Until you yourself can understand that many multiple species of property and pet animals do indeed live in absolute harmony together, just like 925's animals, my exampled experiences and the other millions around the world, don't pretend you know what you're on about in regards to their behaviours and their content living situations without in fact knowing that most animals, especially cats and dogs, can and do indeed co-inhabit beautifully together. It is how they are raised, trained, treated and looked after. You obviously haven't had that particular experience of multiple species co-inhabitation, hence your lack of knowledge on it. Which is absolutely fine, but don't advertise a false rhetoric here. It is clearly, obviously proven to be untrue...you're literally watching a video proving that. There are billions more around for you to see. Also working in an *inhumane cattle feed lot does not qualify you as someone who has studied, trained and professionally worked within the care, health and well-being of companion and captive animals and the community in which they co-inhabit. Have a good day.
We use a similar system of passive solar. Use extreme care to monitor your coop temperatures until you get the feel of things. They can heat up very quickly when the sun comes out even in cold weather. I often leave a small door open to the enclosed run during the day just in case they need to escape the coop. The coop will also experience a greater range of temperatures over a 24 hour period. Cheers!
@9252LIFE - Finally a new video. I missed you. I hope all of you are up and well. God bless you and your family. I love it when you work together with your kids. That's real life and you put a lot of love in chicken cube build
20# fishing line strung above the boxes will keep birds from roosting on nest box. But they really like a “cave environment” to nest in. Do the fishing line and cover the box top with wood on a pitch.
I have to have alot of air flow in my coop. We rarely get snow and our birds get respiratory infections if the coop isn’t ventilated well enough. I’m actually thinking about installing a small solar powered exhaust fan in the top to help with air circulation. We put ours in one of those prebuilt sheds and they free range during the day. I’m glad that it doesn’t get this cold in our area. This is a really nice coop though.
That looks like every chicken’s dream. So very sweet to go that extra trouble to round up the roosting boards. I have read that it’s good for them to be wide enough so that their feet are covered by the feathers.
this old boy will say this. i have seen your videos and so enjoy them . Ty !
Thank you Roger! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

I am new here, but want to say, I enjoyed this build. My hat is off to you having your daughter work with you as you teach her and raise food for your whole family. Will be following you all on your journey.
Blessings.
I like it chad, those chickens will be warm Haley was a big help and autumn, such great kids
Thank you Ron! Hope you’re doing well!
Hello my wonderful family you are so hard working family I love that chicken coop you and that so adorable young lady did a great job I can't believe how fast your beautiful daughters are growing up take care outside please stay warm Rosa I really miss your videos your friend Rosa
Hi Rosa! How have you been?
@@9252LIFE I am still fighting with Cemo treatments but I am staying strong
I watch my chicken coops on line--I’m searching for the right one-and looove yours; specifically that you placed translucent ceilings-I find that natural light is so important.
You’re very cleaver.
Awesome chicken coop. Love watching all your videos your land is absolutely beautiful and so is your family. Living the dream.
Thank you
Good lookin coop that bubble wrap keeps the tin from sweatin so bad also I like workin with it lined inside of my well house with it makes a big difference. Those your ladies do a great job helping. Thanks for sharing be safe have fun enjoy ya'lls beautiful family and homestead
Thank you Mike!
Fantastic job you all did.
Thank you Diane
Beautiful chicken coop. Well done! The kitty cat is so cute on it lol!
Thank you Amy
Great job if it were me I would definitely have to move that 2 x 4 I wouldn’t want to step over that every day clean dry coops are always good 👍
Yes that board gets annoying 😆
I'd be interested in seeing how warm it keeps inside! Keep us updated please 😊
Very good ! Jeremiah 17 7-8 KJV Bible !!! God Bless !!!
One of the best coop's ever!! Fantastic job 👍🏻👌🏻. 🐾🙏🏻✌🏻
Thank you Scott
Beautiful chicken coop!
Well done!
Thank you
I'm sure glad you are not trudging through the miles of snow, ice and flooding creek water just to get to the pavement any longer! It's nice to see your working and building conditions are much better. I enjoy the videos much more this way. Thanks for sharing with us.
Thank you Dave! We enjoy making the videos much more this way too! 😆
Look forward to seeing more please 🙏
God Bless the family.
Thank you! You and your family have a Thanksgiving as well!
Nice work on the coop, just in time by the looks of the snow. God bless you all
Thank you Darren
Thank you Bernadette! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving
Love how your daughter is helping 🥰
So very glad to see you all again 😀 🙌. You are all in my prayers. God bless you all.

Sure is Good to have y'all back!! Love watching the whole family. Have a Happy Thanksgiving. Take care and God Bless y'all always
Hi Lisa! Where have you been? 😆
@@9252LIFE Right here at home where I usually am.😄
Looks amazing Chad. The Chickens look happy
Thank you Cyndi! Shoot! I forgot to give you some Isaac time! 😬
@@9252LIFE I noticed but its the holiday season
Great job guys!
Thank you Tim!
Morning, Chad -
I'm still so thankful & relieved your all at this new property and out of your former off-grid place.
I'm sure you hear it a thousand times, but oh - what a beautiful family you have there!
Happy holidays to you...
Thank you Dave! We are very thankful as well! 😆 hope you’re doing well! Take care
This year's thankful mention should be
you've hit water
Clear path to the road bedrooms
One hell of a Homestead
A warm shelter to work on car's
👍👍👍💞
Oh yea you are so right on! 😆
Have a great Thanksgiving Craig.
live for today :)
BEAUTIFUL ❤️ You and the girls did such a nice job. The chickens are happy and safe from the cold and predators. Great job building the chicken coop
Thank you Kevin!
A little tip to stop water completely freezing is get a ball that will float and put it in the water troughs for the animals
Great idea
How about an update in the spring to let us know how that worked out? Looks like a great job! What a big help your daughter was!
For sure! We plan on testing a few ideas out this winter and seeing what helps the coop perform best. We’ll definitely keep you updated. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving! Take care.

You little girl sure is a worker. I am the youngest of 5 and the only girl. When I was growing up I was definitely a daddy’s girl. I would go on fishing trips for a week with just me & dad. Thank you Wendy.
Brilliant coop!! 👌
I just love how much you guys love and treat all your animals with such respect and give them such good homes and a happy life. It just proves even more of what such good people you are! Love this channel, thank you.
Haha spotted your kitty cat chilling in the hay, my cat also loves hanging out in the hay in my chook coop and their roosts too 😄
Thank you! Have a great day!
This was really fun watching this build. HAPPY CHICKENS😊
Cheers!
Love the chicken coop , especially the wheel system !

20# fishing line strung above the boxes will keep birds from roosting on nest box. But they really like a “cave environment” to nest in. Do the fishing line and cover the box top with wood on a pitch.
Great idea Tina. Thank you! Have a great Thanksgiving weekend!
Wow nice Condo coop, Chad and girls. Can't wait to see what's next. Happy Thanksgiving to you all. Be Blessed. 🦃😊🇺🇲
Thank you Patricia! You have a great Thanksgiving too!
Never had an issue with respiratory problems.
That looks like every chicken’s dream. So very sweet to go that extra trouble to round up the roosting boards. I have read that it’s good for them to be wide enough so that their feet are covered by the feathers.
i give an A+ on that coop those chickens going to love it keep warm safe Happy Thanksgiving GOD bless
