    References supporting that early learning in reading and math boosts children’s intelligence, cognitive development, and genius potential:
    [1].Dr. Cunningham, A. E., & Dr. Stanovich, K. E., What Reading Does for the Mind.
    [This research indicates that early reading makes children exceptionally smart and unlocks their genius potential, because the brain’s plasticity is at its peak during this period. This heightened plasticity allows for stronger and more numerous brain synapse connections. Their Research reveals that early reading significantly enhances vocabulary, comprehension, memory recall, and cognitive skills. Also according to these findings, early reading provides not only academic advantages but also lifelong intellectual benefits]
    [2]. University of Cambridge. Early Childhood Reading and Brain Development.
    [This study found that reading for pleasure in early childhood is associated with improvements in brain structure, vocabulary, memory, and academic performance. Early readers also displayed lower risks of mental health and behavioral issues during adolescence]

    [MRI studies reveal that early math learning positively impacts neural connectivity and brain plasticity, especially in regions associated with memory, attention, and spatial awareness. This suggests that early math education enhances overall brain development, supporting learning in other areas. Early math learning also boosts the brain’s capacity for faster and more complex information processing]

    What is amazing is that you keep speaking of teachers who are amazed that a 5 year old child can read. Teachers are not good at teaching much of anything. It takes passion for a subject to teach it. I can not imagine a person not loving to read, write, being inquisitive, and creative, singing even off key. So what happens for the child whose parent is not a reader, they will not read your book. I have a method for parents who are non reader themselves. In fact they will not listen to the entire 23 minutes. I loved your enthusiasm. My job is getting the attention of parents who do not know it is their job to teach their children. So I respect their attention span which can sometimes be shorter than their children's.

    Does english school actually teach just by using sight words? Using the phonetic version is more difficult in English. I am German and in almost all cases the letter always makes the same sound. I think I learned reading using phonetics. (Teaching English to adults is annoying cause I can't explain why one letter is pronounced in 15 different ways depending on the word.... seeing their annoyance when the "basic" letter sound isn't working xD i probably had a lot of troubles with that as well when I started properly studying English in grade 8ish (I only knew very basic stuff before that, because from grade 3-7 I was almost failing that class each semester and not paying attention.)
    Nowadays I am really good at English cause I read 1-12hours each day in English for a year and then I started 1-12 hours (depending on the day/school/etc, but I did do it A LOT) watching TV shows/ reading each day after that. (Took forever to learn English... and i think I can only properly know how stuff is pronounced cause I have had so much input. With a lot of words if I dont know them I could guess 1-10 different ways of pronouncing them (thats complicated words though, so not really applicable for kids)
    Teaching Chinese reading is actually so much easier than English. Because Pinyin (aka normal letters) always make the same sounds. Non of that crazy english mess xD. E is always pronounced the same, so is f, l, o, and every other letter.
    (Ehm yeah .... And then there come characters afterwards. I think kids learn reading in the first 2/3 weeks of 1st grade and then when they're fluent with that they start characters. By the end of year one they know about 800ish and by the end of grade 3 they can read basically everything. For grade 1-3 books have pinyin on top of the characters so that kids can read it.

    it means that I should teach my 6 year old native English speaker student to read the phonemic. For example teach her the sound of "th" so she can read there? Am I right?
    She is living in Colombia, so I help her to not forget her English. I thought learning her to read was the most important, so she continues practicing.

      *Early lessons last only 3 to 5 minutes, and later lessons will take a bit longer around 5 to 10 minutes. The total amount* *of time daily should be around 15 minutes. Depending on the age of the child, Jim recommends spending a few days* *per lessons, of course, older children can progress faster than younger children.*

    What about a child that has dyslexia. My husband has dyslexia and he has problems reading. sometimes it's hard for him to understand certain sentences. He has to read a bit slower than a normal adult. It's not because he was taught to read incorrectly, he was born with a disability he can't control. Learning disabilities are very common in my husband's family. My brother in law has troubles reading and his son has dyslexia and dysgraphia. So when my baby gets older and IF he inherets my husband's learning disabilities would it still be that easy to teach our child? Is there a way I can teach my child if he inherets my husband's learning disability?

      From my experience, dyslexia is not genetic. But is does happen in families, because it is about how people in the family move. Our deep genetic heritage (long before we had houses and TVs and strollers) involves babies being carried by their moms or the older children as the family unit searched for food. The infant was subjected to an up-and-down or side-to-side rhythmic activity daily, until they were old enough to walk on their own (and in walking they supplied their own rhythmic movements). Our developmental process needs this rhythmic activity (up-and-down and/or side-to-side) to move the developmental process forward. Deep down you already know that infants need this movement. When your infant is fussy, you pick up the child and you rock the child or otherwise provide that rhythmic stimuli. The members of your family (and extended members too) need to spend 30-45 minutes per day on a rebounder (miniature trampoline), bouncing themselves. If their balance is not very good (often with dyslexics), then they should sit on a fully inflated yoga ball and bounce themselves.
      For most people, this daily rhythmic activity will slowly eliminate their dyslexia. I'm speaking from experience. I recover children with developmental difficulties and rhythmic activity is my main intervention).

    My now 7 and 6 year old kids are the smartest in their classes. I started to teach them to read when they were just 6 months old. My husband was making fun of me back then. I started with the ABC sounds. By the the age of 4 they read fluently and can read numbers up to 1 million. Make it fun for them, teach and play, that is the key to make them interested. Praise them with encouragement...

      @gingerobyn 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lesley Matamoros it’s been a year since you made this comment but I hope since then someone let you know that what your daughter did at 4 is developmentally appropriate. It’s a pre-reading skill, it demonstrates that she understood that print has meaning and that books have words and stories. Children SHOULD be using their imagination at that time, retelling stories from memory and generating ideas based on cues from the pictures. If this program works that’s great but it’s not good to push your children to read early at the expense of developmentally normal behaviors and play.
