      Are you a slave (in the classical sense: are you owned by a slave owner and have no rights)? Do you have any relatives that you know personally that are slaves? Have ever even heard of someone in the US that is an actual slave right now?
      Do you know why? Because slavery ended more than a century ago. Today, you are free to change your destiny and become successful.
      But I'm guessing you're not successful and are watching this video wishing you could have a $10 million dollar mansion, and instead of accepting reality, you're oddly blaming something that never happened to you on your lack of prosperity.
      Race isnt what's holding you back. It's your attitude.
      I'm full blooded Irish. My ancestors were also slaves. My grandparents were discriminated against in their youth (they both remember signs, "Irish and dogs: keep off the grass"). I too could probably use that tired old racial crutch to explain away my lack of success by saying, "poor me, my ancestors were discriminated against", but instead I just accept reality, which is I'm not a ga-zillionaire because I didn't apply myself enough to become one.
      So instead of watching that video and saying "poor me", I watch it and say, "Wow, that's a beautiful home".
      I feel better when I'm positive about life. You might want to try that attitude. You may actually like it.

    • @ThEbony_Oracle
      @ThEbony_Oracle 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@engineerauthorpilot Lmao please don’t mistake your own feelings of inadequacy or shortcomings in life for anyone else’s reality. People only referred to the time/era as he mentioned ignorantly in the video “as a great time” not to be the reality for ALL people during that period. It’s called facts/history. This is in every history book across America (probably the world) unlike “Irish slavery” and you chose to be offended by a proven fact and go on a ridiculous rant about race. I’m sure if he had replaced the year with 1941 people of Jewish descent would disagree, or 1942-1945 people of Japanese descent would disagree, or even 1846-1848 and people of Mexican descent would disagree. Hell, he could’ve used 2001 and I’m sure almost every American in the comments would’ve disagreed. Any educated person or even a 5th grader who knows basic history could’ve deduced that 1839 in American history wasn’t great without the old crutch of “get over slavery”, but I’m guessing you don’t like to read and you aren’t educated. That’s probably the reason why you’re confusing “indentured servitude” with slavery and masquerading a positive outlook/attitude while launching meritless assumptions about strangers’ lives. The ignorance, the hypocrisy, and the audacity of you are so astounding and entertaining. Instead of trying to push your own uninformed rhetoric and personal biases, read a book and educate yourself properly. Who knows, you might actually like it and retain the correct information. 🙂
      P.S: If you can determine an individual’s success, their possessions, or their outlook/attitude on life by a youtube comment then man you should get your own physic hotline because you are spot on like Ms.Cleo.

      Taxes are 50k year for this estate which is low considering. The mill rate is very low in Greenwich and like towns ie: Westport. A 10 mil home in Waterbury ( which was referenced here) the taxes would be much, much higher ( mill rate 60.21 ) depending on the assessed value.

    I would feel very uncomfortable living there. I need "coziness" in a home, not an echo chamber throughout the house. That house gives all the coziness of a museum lol. Looking up at all the white walls, ceilings and recessed lighting, doesn't feel like a "home", but a "sterile" office space, like a dentist's office. Imagine trying to relax, sitting on the couch, and looking up at the recessed lighting and feeling you're getting a root canal. I need wall-to-wall carpeting, on which I can make fists with my toes and roll around with a puppy! COZY!! Not a sterile white operating-room feeling echo chamber. 😉
