This ride was a big part of my childhood because of the flyover the pga golf course. When my dad went on it with me he said hey it’s me in my work truck
1:43 "attention to detail"....that 30 degree angle of the Eiffel Tower was spot on from the real one. 🤣
This ride is just amazing. My jaw literally dropped during the first part of the ride. It felt so real. I knew it was only a ride but it was just so immersive. The movements of the cars felt so natural.

I prefer Soarin' Over California. Before they switched to Soarin' Around the World at Epcot, they briefly brought back the Cali version, but HD, and it was fantastic

I worked the Epcot attraction when it was new. I miss my original Disney home. Can’t believe how long it has been since 2005.

I cant even count how many times I went on this in my three trips to California as a kid. My funniest memory is my dad refusing to go on it after the first time because he found out the fun way it gave him motion sickness.
Makes me a bit sad that they changed the film that plays. I wish there could be a happy medium where one room plays the new film and the other room plays the classic.
I'm always glad when they bring "Soarin' over California" back.

One of my favorite rides at Disney!
The story approach of Soarin’ in Shanghai is strangely themed around a native tribe with a mythical power. The queue takes you through a dark ruins in a jungle. I remember something about the village lady turning you into a hawk so you could fly around the world. I think the ride vehicle was painted rustic and crafty. It has nothing to do with any kind of aircraft or glider.
I loved this ride. I could ride this for hours.
Cool connection to this ride: I was at Disneyland when they were filming the ending scene. I and my family are in the crowd somewhere.

Disney has reverted attractions in the past (the Tiki room in WDW comes to mind) and with Soarin', flipping it back to Over Californian is fairly simple compared to other reskins. As it has two theaters they could actually run both versions at the same time (though I doubt they would ever do that).

I was california adventure in april this year and yes I can confirm Soarin over California did return and it had quiet a long wait im glad ive gotten to experience soarin over California all 3 times ive been to California adventure

Ah my childhood. I LOVED this ride. My dad and I would only hit California Adventure only for this ride, then head back to Disneyland. XD Downside the only best row is Alpha, otherwise you see feet ruining the illusion of flight.

I’d like if Disney would swap out Around the World with Over California annually for a few months since it’s clearly still popular.

Great video! I wish, like the Tokyo version, the difference in story would be highlighted in the Shanghai Disney Resort version. The movie is basically the same but the backstory and queue are very different as well.

I am having such a Mandala effect where Soarin' had different footage. This was around 18 years ago, around the time that California Adventure had opened, so I don't remember what ride I was on. But the footage that I remember made me laugh when we fly over people outside a market and one guy fell over backwards on a box of fruit. I laughed really hard and thought that Soarin' was a hilarious ride. But now whenever I go, I have only seen footage of Soarin' Over California and Soarin' Around the World. Now I don't know what ride I went on that had the funny footage. I could have sworn it was Soarin' or at least something that used to be in California Adventure. Maybe what I remember was just from a dream...

I like your intro and ending of the video about Soarin. You were acting like a flight attendant on a passenger jet airplane.
Soarin’ has a weird magic on me. Even if I’m in tennis shoes and contacts (as opposed to flip flops and glasses) I’m so concerned I’m gonna drop the NOTHING loose I have on me. It also totally immersed me in the ride despite seeing the screen beforehand, watching the seats load into place, and even seeing a seam on the screen once. Doesn’t matter. It WORKS. I love this ride but it trips me out SO HARD.
