It's one of my favorite things in the parks. I'm honestly surprised it had such a low price tag all things considered. Not surprised an Imagineer went home with an erector set and fixed the problem though. I swear. You give Imagineers a loose leash and a blank check and they can fix anything; and Disney could absolutely do that. And should.
I am having such a Mandala effect where Soarin' had different footage. This was around 18 years ago, around the time that California Adventure had opened, so I don't remember what ride I was on. But the footage that I remember made me laugh when we fly over people outside a market and one guy fell over backwards on a box of fruit. I laughed really hard and thought that Soarin' was a hilarious ride. But now whenever I go, I have only seen footage of Soarin' Over California and Soarin' Around the World. Now I don't know what ride I went on that had the funny footage. I could have sworn it was Soarin' or at least something that used to be in California Adventure. Maybe what I remember was just from a dream...

Ah my childhood. I LOVED this ride. My dad and I would only hit California Adventure only for this ride, then head back to Disneyland. XD Downside the only best row is Alpha, otherwise you see feet ruining the illusion of flight.
The story approach of Soarin’ in Shanghai is strangely themed around a native tribe with a mythical power. The queue takes you through a dark ruins in a jungle. I remember something about the village lady turning you into a hawk so you could fly around the world. I think the ride vehicle was painted rustic and crafty. It has nothing to do with any kind of aircraft or glider.
Can you cover the universal studios halloween horror nights where villains took over the park like with maximum carnage? It would be cool to see as little is know of it currently.
Nice video. I do think Souring around the world is a let down, but I still make a point to ride it. The ride I would like to see you cover is Mystic Manor in Hong Kong Disneyland. I love the score to that ride. Danny Elfman wrote the score. And it’s does have some of the elements from the Haunted Mansion, but because of the culture. They didn’t go the haunted way. So this is original story

Disney has reverted attractions in the past (the Tiki room in WDW comes to mind) and with Soarin', flipping it back to Over Californian is fairly simple compared to other reskins. As it has two theaters they could actually run both versions at the same time (though I doubt they would ever do that).
Great video! I wish, like the Tokyo version, the difference in story would be highlighted in the Shanghai Disney Resort version. The movie is basically the same but the backstory and queue are very different as well.

Soarin’ has a weird magic on me. Even if I’m in tennis shoes and contacts (as opposed to flip flops and glasses) I’m so concerned I’m gonna drop the NOTHING loose I have on me. It also totally immersed me in the ride despite seeing the screen beforehand, watching the seats load into place, and even seeing a seam on the screen once. Doesn’t matter. It WORKS. I love this ride but it trips me out SO HARD.
