Scrapping Power Poles

  • Had a buddy that bought some power poles to build a hay barn. I was able to get the copper ground wire and plates off the poles. Turned out to be a good haul. I also tried my new cast on a silver Indian head coin.

    That silver coin is beautiful.
    Copper one turned out really nice!
    I’ve never scrapped the plates but I’ve been given ground wires before.

    Very interesting. I've never seen the plates at bottom of poles. Only have seen ground rods for the ground wire. Maybe most plates stay in the ground when pulled? I'll have to ask my lineman buddies 🤔

      They had been nailed to the bottom of the pole and all the nails were still intact. I have found them many times. Keep checking. Good source of copper.

    Grammar nazi here. "Pole's" is posesssive. Like, the pole's copper bottom. Plural for pole, is simply "poles."
