Hey Tim glad to see you back..
So Ultrasonic cleaners are the greatest addition to a shop when cleaning small annoying parts. But there's a few things you need to do to make them last, and so you don't get hurt, and allow them to clean your parts properly.
1) Always fill the basin to the full line (the crease line around the top of the basin) without your parts in the basin.
2) Always mix your cleaner with hot water to extend the heater life, be sure to run the ultrasonic without parts in it for at least 2 minutes to allow the water and cleaner to mix properly. Ultrasonics "align" the molecules in the fluid to create the agitation action, parts in the fluid load down the transducers needlessly working them harder than they need to.
3) Never reach into an ultrasonic cleaner when it's running, the ultrasonic wave will destroy the cartilage in your finger joints leading to issues you wish you didn't have.. Turn it off before removing stuff.
4) When ever possible restrict the number of "unlike material" items your trying to clean. It is possible to damage items that would normally be OK on there own in the ultrasonic, it looks deceptive but the ultrasonic packs a real punch on some materials so short runs are always a good idea.

I almost fully agree with you except for line 1, I personally add the parts then fill to the fill line. if they are bigger parts that is. otherwise, ya might overflow the top. Line one about filling is also on the Machine Right there bellow ADMONITION !!!! (this is another word for WARNING) near the on/off button >.< at 7:43 It is in both the instructions and the warning label. Easily missed after all, only about 8% of people ever read instructions. The other 92% wonder why their stuff breakdowns so fast or doesn't work.
Where did you get your information on US and “cartilage damage”? Just curious since we use US in many healthcare areas.

Thanks for the vid. I just got my new 30 liter cleaner. It takes over 2 hours to heat up. Once hot, I started the timer.

What are you restoring? For my '52 Packard, my plans currently are to just get it running and take it to cruise ins and such.
Others have stated that running a cleaner below max water level shortens machine life
It might even blow the ultrasonic cleaner right away. Best is not even plugging it in when it's empty!
Add preheated water before you start. That should save you some time :)
True, only the first time though - I'm not going to change the cleaner every time.
Put small parts in a ziplock bag with your cleaning fluid then immerse in water,same result but far less cleaner used

It would be interesting to compare a similarly dirty part sitting in heated cleaning solution with no ultrasonic.
you should have also got a screen for the tank drain
De gassing is everything with a ultrasonic for max results.
I should try mine on some clogged diesel fuel injectors from my tractor. If an ultrasonic tank cleans them that'll save a small fortune. :)

To be honest I haven't had the chance to use it too much, but from the use I have given it, it's been working nicely
50-50 mixture it’s a 1 to 10 mixture One part simple green to 10 parts water

@@TimNummy my ultrasonic cleaner came in today 3 days late but it is here. Will not get to use it till doctor releases me. Been out of comission for over 3 months with a respiratory infection. And being cooped up spending to much time on EBay.

You'll get better results with it being full. That stuff's pretty nasty on your skin gloves wouldn't hurt either!

I use one to clean my glasses every day. Works extremely well and you don’t scratch anything.

For carbs you may need a stronger solvent like carb cleaner
I think it was cool that he tried something that is probably easier on the environment.
The carb cleaner I know is a highly flammable solvent. Wouldn't dare filling this device with such a liquid , let alone the cost!
I was only relating to what I have seen on other channels such as Mustie1. Not sure if there is a less flammable version of carb cleaner.
Carb cleaner would no doubt be a VERY effective cleaner but it is also some pretty nasty stuff. I do have a can of it but reserve it's use for only when nothing else seems to be working. The simple green is impressively effective for how mild it is on humans and the environment... I'd rather start mild and work my way up to aggressive than the other way around.
