  • Broccoli Mac & Cheese
    Ingredients
    12 oz macaroni - 1 stick butter - 2 ½ cups milk - ½ cup flour
    3 cups cheddar cheese - Broccoli - your own salt and pepper
    Equipment
    Colander - Pot for pasta - large frying pan - spatula or wooden spoon
    Instructions:
    1) Wash your hands
    2) Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and add in the macaroni. Cook for approximately 7-8 minutes stirring
    occasionally.
    3) After your macaroni has been going for 7-8 minutes, add your broccoli to the pot and cook for an additional 3-4
    minutes or until the macaroni is tender but not mushy.
    4) Drain in your colander and set aside
    5) To make the cheese sauce, melt the butter in a large frying pan over medium heat
    6) Once the butter is melted, add in the flour and stir until the flour has completely absorbed the butter and has
    started to brown slightly, about 3-4 minutes
    a. Stir constantly during this step so as not to burn the flour. We just want to brown the mixture to remove
    the flour flavor from the sauce.
    7) Once the flour is slightly browned, pour in the milk and stir continuously until thickened, about 2 minutes.
    8) Lower the heat to low and stir in your cheese.
    9) Once the cheese sauce is ready, carefully pour in the macaroni and broccoli and mix until everything is well
    coated.
    a. During this step, season with salt and pepper until it tastes just right.
    10) Serve and enjoy!
