I cannot thank you enough for putting this up. I acquired a model 15-2 that needed a little bit of maintenance and this video answered all the questions I had. Thank you so much
Just inherited 3 Dan Wesson's that were rarely fired, but are sticking in the actions when cocking and dry firing. I believe the old grease is dried up in there and this video is amazing in detail for the work I have ahead of me. Thank you for this and for not fast forwarding through the important steps like a lot of videos do.
YOU!! You sir are one hell of a magnificent man. YOU just fixed my gun. The gunsmith I took it to couldn't.. Thank you so much for posting this. I now have my gun back. YES!!!!
👌 Thank you sooooo much for this, professional, educational, best detailed Dan Wesson video ever. You are so easy to watch, listen to and practice on your own. This has seriously been my BEST educational video ever. I have has an issue with my cylinder being able to be pushed open without releasing the latch. Should I put a new latch spring inside? All the very best! Joel
I have two Dan Wesson's one with a pork chop shroud. Although they perform just fine at the range, I probably should open them up and inspect. This video gives me the motivation and confidence to do so. Thanks.
There are steps here that you do not need to do and might be a bear to reassemble. The cylinder latch, cylinder stop ball, firing pin, and main spring for starters. However, if you feel compelled to preform a complete disassembly this is your guide.
That is a magnificent DW! I had two blued model 15's one was awesome and on the edge of being worn out and the second one couldn't find a gun smith that could fix it but looked great. The first one was super accurate and came with the brown case and a couple of barrels. The second one either was a lemon or needed a good gun smith, it always spit lead.
Thank you for the very detailed video. I am curious if you'd recommend an ultrasonic cleaner for most of the parts? I've used one before on old cosmoline soaked parts and they worked great and did not affect the finish.
I am going to give you a definite "it depends". The trick with an ultrasonic cleaner is making sure you get the gun completely dry and then oiled. I have seen 1911s come into the shop that had a rusted mainspring because they didn't get all of the water out of the mainspring housing yet alone get some oil down there. Sometimes, heated ultrasonic solutions can cause some change in the finish of a firearm. I usually use Simple Green in my ultrasonic cleaner. But only use it for really dirty guns and especially for BCGs.
Excellent video on the Deep cleaning of the Dan Wesson revolver, I know the Dan Wesson uses a clock wise cylinder rotation like Colt revolvers and Smith & Wesson uses a counter clock wise rotation, and from time to time the Ejector Rod becomes unwound, thus locking up the cylinder, how common is this to a Dan Wesson or a Colt?
Thanks! It really helped. Mine did not have a cylinder spring bearing, somebody else probably else lost it before my dad bought it. Does that make the ejector return to close position once you clear the empties? Mine is a model 14 and the Crane Lock or "U" clip for the bolt plunger is just plain EVIL. Trying to keep it in place while reassembling is quite the trick. I love the gun. Mine has a hair trigger when in the cocked position and if you have arthritis that is great. I also love that the sights are adjustable. Great fun. Thanks again for a great video.
This is probably the best step by step for a 715 I’ve ever seen.

That is great news. I love hearing that people are able to work on their own gun and get them bad up and running again. Congrats!
This is a genious workmanship bro! Keep up the good work! 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for watching!

Excellently clear, great demonstration of how to go about this. Thank you so much for creating and sharing this informative video!
Very in depth and informative!
It’s cool to see how the mechanisms vary for revolver to revolver.🤠

Glad to hear it!
I heard you on Jack’s podcast and you mentioned the DWA 15 video. I acquired 2-DWA’s last year, this video is just what I needed. Thanks.
Awesome. Glad you got a bonus out of Jacks podcast today
This is excellent! Top notch instruction and easy to follow thru. Thank you!

So glad I saw this. I just ordered a DW 715… which is for the most part very very similar.

Family member found one of these In her barn... one person's junk is my treasure
What a find! Congrats
Great video. I’m having timing issues in DA and will start by giving a thorough cleaning.
Thanks for watching! Good luck on your cleaning.

the spring bearing can help with the ejector as it keeps it aligned. You may need to have a professional look at it though. Thanks for watching!
Very nicely done . Can you do a detailed video like this for a heritage roughrider revolver?
Eventually, yes. I just need to get access to one.
Nice
