Love your videos and the direct out front honesty you provide about raising livestock and the incredible gamble you as farmers have to constantly be negotiating. We can’t live or survive without farmers of every kind yet you’re so under appreciated when it comes to grants and such to assist you. Thank you for your dedication. Did not know that sheep eat turnips and radishes. Every time I watch one of your videos I come away with more education. Thank you. ❤❤

I do moan at channels asking for subs likes n merch all year n dump everyone on there head for a month but just don’t want to moan at you guys for some reason just glad you’re back! Yeah if there’s a nice bit of keep lands on you’re lap just bloody take it and worry about stock later , you mentioned before at maybe doing a bit more of the store trade and I think you’re 100% right if most of the keep is winter, you would be excellent at it and give massive dimension to the channel and should bring in a nice wee income. Can’t believe your numbers are at 10k , yourself and sheep school are the best channels on here, strange one. Apologies for the essay just excited to see you back!
I should imagine the fuel cost of getting around the flock must take a big chunk out of the profits. It looks like the sheep are getting some tasty crops to graze down. It would be nice if you could get a smallholding base to run things from, I know just how costly that is in the home counties.
It is a Swede here in Tasmania and they are lovely to eat we only grow for human consumption not for animals we grow turnips for animals and they are white

How does sheep farming work, why sell lambs just to buy more, are they different ages or something? Obviously I know nothing about farming, but I love the peak into your life. Thanks for the content! (The music @6:00 was a bit loud compared to your voice and made the transition a bit jarring)
If you can buy thin lambs and fatten them, you can make a profit. Also, farmers are price-takers in a volatile market. If they get a chance to buy low, then they can hope to sell high later.
Usually you sell your lambs when they have reached a weight and condition that is ideal for market (fat lambs) guessing Kriss sold his lambs fat and so he's essentially got land but no livestock to graze it (paying money for no gain) hence you'd buy in store lambs (thinner and lighter lambs) that need feeding up to graze the land you have. This will hopefully turn you some 'profit' as store (lighter/thinner) lambs are not as valuable as fat (heavier/in condition) lambs 👌🏼

It is however a MASSIVE gamble as the market is volatile and there's no guarantee you'll make your money back 🤯
