      Hello , zack. When you said to pull towards the hip at an 60 angle, doesnt it make the lift break into two parts? Cuz we have been taught to always pull straight up, by pulling it to the hip, you need to throw your hip at the bar, and give the bar upward momentum from the hip

    I am not american so I guess this question makes sense... Why most american lifters have a so high hip setup / low chest on the snatch and the clean? Is this something preached by USA coaches? Because it seems really different to the low hip set up most Eastern Europe and specially Chinese lifters have (and also blatantly open chest)
    Amazing channel Zack. Keep up the nice stuff. Greetings from Spain

    I came here prepared to hear some inaccuracies too but this guy actually nails the technique of full bar contact which I like and also try to use, although I am not so good at snatch. Have in mind to become better at something you must train exactly that, there is no shortcuts, other excersises no matter how close they might seem they won't do the trick. So if you want to brush the bar in the snatch, start your snatches and try in each effort no matter the load. Be consistent.

    Hey man I love the videos you make, seeing other americans analyze weightlifting like the rest of the world makes my heart sing. My dad lifted for a german club back in the day and I grew up lifting, I had my pelvic bone busted so many times I just got over it, my dad also had us stick a knew pad in our shorts to cushion the bar. That helped but as one lifts and matures the pelvic bash will smooth out. If you are not lifting starting at age 5 then god help you because hitting it as an adult is way more painful than when you are a kid. Straight arms or risk a slow pull period the germans would not be cool with the bend arms method

    What Zack didn’t explicitly say is he has a hip lowered dynamic start. It’s similar to that or the Iranian lifters and different from other dynamic starts like that of Mattie Rodgers (more of a kinetic/rolling start). Also on the fact of the pubic bone, engaging your lats will help (like he said) but so will the direction of your torso. Look at any power position of a good lifter and their chest is vertical, the bar will go in the direction of your chest. The more vertical you can get it the better your bar path will be. Love the video and great explanations Zack!

    It’s these nuggets of genius advice, these cuing suggestions that are applicable to every body type, every level of lifter, that separate you. Not that your “bro humor” isn’t scintillating; but you do your dear proud when you deliver differential technical advice. THANK YOU. Your suggestions about setting feet is both biomechanically correct, and a super pre-lift routine to get one’s head ready. The issue of individual biomechanical differences seems to be glossed over in most weightlifting instruction - I’m not built like Torokhity or a Chinese lifter, so neither style can just be copied. Dave Spitz did a piece open grip width determination for C&J recently, referencing how one’s arms hang with hands supinate at sides as the benchmark - can you provide your thoughts?

    hey Zack you you talk more on the topic "great despite of it and not because of it" meaning how elite lifters do things that are not considered textbook form but are still breaking records on stage like early pull on toes before full extension, leaning back too much before pulling under, early arm bend in the clean

    I learned clean a bit (a few weeks) from internet and then got a coach after that. He basically yelled at me “finish the pull!” because I was trying to get under the bar as soon as the hip contact happened and wasn’t pulling all the way through. I think this continuous pulling motion is very easy to miss just by watching video yourself. You need someone with a trained eye to spot that

    Hey Zack, Kelly Starrett always mentions that you don't want to break the line of your spine with your head - ie you should keep your head in line with your back (looking down more) so you avoid this weird strain on your spine. Have you ever tried pulling like this? I see people doing deadlifts and Olympic lifts with their head/eyes up a lot.. I have found it feels a lot nicer for me to deadlift with my head in neutral but I'm not an Olympic lifter so never tried it on these lifts.

    • @madworld109

    Zack, could you comment on how much the traps are contracting as you’re pulling your arms thru that 45 or 60 degree angle? The way you explained it made me think I would see your shoulders raise more towards the back of your neck as you’re activating your upper body, but it didn’t look like it in the video. What muscles are “pulling” the bar back towards your hips?

  • @LetterToGodFromMeToYou
    @LetterToGodFromMeToYou 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Snatch grip panda pulls really help with getting the feel of controlled vertical bar. You just have to make sure that your arms are kind of pulling the bar to your chest at the extension.
