What a great first sponsor to have; Opera GX is especially based with how intensive Elden Ring can get
Grats on the sponsorship, monk! Nice to see it's from OperaGX, too. First browser to actually make me switch from Firefox.
Haligtree Magus’ build looked so fun you barely see any faith/int builds in PVP
Maybe I should try some duels with my heretic build. Using the death sorceries, black flame circle, death lightning, and rykards rancor
@@nektrune3381I want to try this
Do you happen to know what armor set they were wearing? It looked pretty cool
@@arsonystgamez666 Cleanrot Knight set plus the Mask of Confidence
@@nektrune3381 death lightning isnt that great of an incantion 😅Fia's mist is better
Daggers are consistently the best at not being daggers. I'm serious. Glintstone Kris is best at shooting spells, Black Knife is best for destined death, Cinquedia is the best for bestial incants, Reduvia and Blood-stained dagger is best for bleed, and the rest are the best at being redundant.
Great knife is good tbf and French dagger for ripostes (not as a main weapon ig lol but I like it as a secondary)
I mean, the misericorde is great for crit/riposte builds
only 1 of these was correct
Erdsteel dagger disrespect will not be tolerated 😤
Offhand daggers are pretty good but only if your in the flow state
Because against bosses it just opens up your ability to keep on hitting
Artacking from neutral is almost nvr worth but daggers have so little recovery you can attack basically whenever you want
The Celebrants Sicke has a unique property that 50% of your damage goes through guard (same as the Shotel) and it also gets applied to ranged ashes like Storm Blade.
one of the neat things about the wakizashi is that it gains a hidden damage bonus when powerstanced with a main-hand katana, which brings it up to roughly equivalent to a basic uchigatana in damage.
The powerstance moveset is also slightly faster than powerstancing two regular katanas.
It also consumes less stamina than powerstancing with 2 katanas
Ok there’s too many people being nice to the wakizashi down here.
It’s SHORT. I don’t care how much stamina I use or how much faster the animation is if I miss ever other hit with it.
Just wanted to make sure the bases were covered.

Fun facts! The only weapon with higher S scaling dex is the keen Urumi. Shoulda gone lightning affinity on the Misericorde, though. Lightning Strike for the extra ohko riposte potential. The Great Knife has A scaling dex with keen and A scaling arcane with occult, making it good for either stat spread. The Reduvia outperforms it on occult builds, though, in spite of its B scaling in arcane. Good to use in the offhand if you want a parry dagger, though. Nice to see that the Black Knife has higher dex scaling than faith, and still has that double hitting R2. I'll have to try that one again sometime.
Just so you know, the Blade of Calling and Blade of Death weapon skills don’t get Hyper Armor, but instead fall under another system called Super Armor.
Hyperarmor is a modification of the poise system and heavily relies on the amount of poise you have, whereas Superarmor is complete immunity from certain levels of stun!
Which means that you can do some funny shenanigans with attacking through the boom from the Ruptured Tear flask!
The only reason why the ivory sickle and crystal knife aren't infuseble is I think the same reason why the crystal spear and sword aren't, innate INT scaling weapons are terrifyingly op when used with ashes of war like glintstone pebble or ice spear, take the clayman's harpoon for example, it's stats are mid at best but put one of those ashes of war on it with a magic or cold infusion and suddenly you're nuking shit
oh, the great knife is really fun, occult paired with reduvia and parry makes it quite scarry
also, pretty sure that misericord crit would have killed that guy with the dagger talisman xD
also also, Glintstone Kris is so good on a mage build, particularly with alexander and godfrey talismans, and spellblade set, the charged dart hits like a truck
Dagger Talisman and Lightning affinity, and that guy is getting one shotted
Daggers are kinda brutal, especially dual Reduvias.
yep i use that
@@Zenn00 dude, the post is 3 months old
@@TheVeiledMonarch that doesn’t matter dud
@@TheVeiledMonarchyeah brah, time is just a concept.
Wouldnt have been mad if you used Cinquedea with the clawmark, when weapons complement eachother like that it's kinda the way to go imo.
i live for monk's weapon class showcases
I always wished sanguine nobles could drop a reduvia so that you could dual wield them without going into NG+, not sure if it would actually be necessary but it sounds fun
Trade someone
Hell I’ll give you one
Fun fact despite the 140 crit on that dagger, The executioner's axe does the most crit damage in the entire game
Isn't the Executioner's crit rating only 115?
@@monkwashereyes, but Executioner's has higher ar (forget the motion values, i misremembered something else)
There is a pretty extensive video talking about that other weapon.
@monkwashere there's always alot of math in damage calculations. But in short, the Executioners Great Axe has so much base damage that the lower critical rating doesn't even matter.
gotcha
really? I've heard a lot of different opinions over the year, but people always said misericorde is the absolute best for crit dmg, no matter the affinity.
could you please provide calculations for this?
Flame art erdsteel daggers deal bananas damage
Yeah, around the same as flame art straight swords. If you have 80 faith with ritual sword talisman, scorpion charm (pls don't use it in PvP!), Golden Vow, Flame Grant Me Strength and the fire physic that's enough to break 1000AR.
Celebrant's Sickles are actually amazing. I'm pretty sure they're solely responsible for the low drop rate of the celebrant weapons else if you could get two of these early in a playthrough they would completely outclass the rune scarab.
Lol
Cinquedea is my favorite dagger because it looks more like a sword than the other daggers, has good Strength scaling, and combos well with Strength/Faith builds that use a larger weapon in their right hand. It lets them switch out to a smaller, faster weapon to use alongside the Bestial incantations just in case they come across someone they have a hard time hitting. Good utility, no extra attribute requirements to stop you from using it early on in the game, just a very solid dagger choice overall.
Honestly I’m surprised you didn’t powerstance blade of calling with black knife if they are the perfect yin and Yang in the game lol
Interesting fact about the Cinquedea: in Elden Ring is in the dagger category but it's actually an italian medieval short sword. As for my favourite dagger it's the Black Knife
Blade of Death doesn't necessarily go through i-frames, it just triggers the effect on phantom hits when your connection is latent. Pretty much any kind of auxiliary effect (like black flame) apply on phantom hits, as well as status as you almost certainly know.
Your the only elden ring TH-camr that actually does a good job at explaining what weapons are good/bad and why
Back step attacks are the best attacks in daggers arsenal.
Long range fast, piercing damage.
Unfortunately you can't use it from neutral.
If we could it would be so good.
I love using an Assassin Build with Daggers, something just so fun about sneaking around and stabbing dudes in the back or parrying them for that juicy crit, but then when those aren't an option, it's time for the Blender!
One really good setup is dual Great Knives one with Cold and the other with Fire, it keeps its Bleed build-up with both so if they don't die from the physical damage they're gonna die from either the cold constantly triggering and being removed by the fire, or the hemorrhage from the bleed build-up.
love these vids they help with builds and showing friends new to game how to use said type for pvp
I find that the scorpion stinger is best when paired with the antspur rapier. it's really good for pressure.
Monk this series has easily been one of my favorite ways to enjoy elden ring as of late.
The nice thing about daggers being easily countered by longer reach weapons is that they are light so you can have a dagger in one slot and a longer reach weapon in another, or go long weapon with offhand dagger for mix ups.
The good thing about farming the Great Knife or the Bloodstained Dagger is that you’re probably running an Arcane build anyway. But I‘ll be honest, no Dagger ever felt as good to me on that setup as a Bleed Antspur.
Oh, and here’s to From giving all non-infusable weapons a unique Ash of War in the DLC. The Crystal Knife for example is described as a Knife used for mining… Shatter Earth Ash of War, baby! It’ll surely happen, right? Right?
There is 7 category left to examine they are :Thrusting swords,Heavy thrusting swords,Hammers,Great hammers,Reapers,Claws and Spears(i didn't mention 10 other category which is 3 Bows category,Crossbows,Ballistas,Glintstone staffs,Sacred seals,Torchs and Tools that have 4 damaging item(Wraith calling bell,Omen bairn,Regal omen bairn,Ancestral infant's head) and there is shileds too if you count
Crystal knife and that other weird one aren't meant to be built around. They are only there to be a better option than any infusable dagger on a specific stat spread.
can you tell me which armor you are using? it looks really cool
glintstone kris is one of my faves, great spell damage and doesnt inhale FP, also the followup R2 is awesome
I love how you tell us how to get the weapons just in case we want to try them out.
I kinda like having a blade of calling off hand with a holy shamshier main hand or vice versa just for the drip, they are just a very clean set.
Please do hammers next. I'm eager to see my favorite bonk weapon -the stone club. Super fast and super underrated imo.
great vids monk, one day im sure they will help me choose a weapon to finish my first playthrough *cries in fist/dagger/rapier/bloodhoung fang*
I love your work so much! Thanks for these videos. Are you taking suggestions for future videos? I have a few ideas based on the Elden Ring Books of Knowledge.
I remember Dual wielding an Erdstelel Holy Dagger and the Blackknife Dagger. Fun times.
Yo Monk, every weapon gets bonus damage on unaware enemies. Not sure if you were saying only the Black Knife/Blade of Calling did with their AoW
Great to see that the update for poise damage has made most weapon classes usable. Before that, axes and daggers were borderline useless, but now they’re actually fun.
i wonder if poison moth could be used as a roll catch with how much it moves you forward
I wanted to sleep, but NEW MONK VIDEO LETS GOOOOOOO😤
My boi finally got sponsored by opera, I’m so proud of you my guy 🥺
My first run that I beat. I forgot to interact with Radagons body at the end and I just forgot to see the cutscene. But gladly I'm only 2-3 bosses away from the end again on my 2nd run.
Have you tried infusing the crystal dagger using a crystal spell and catalyst
erdsteel dagger with flame strike and flame art affinity slaps, give it a go
@monk all sickles and scythes do penetrate shields at a specific %, has anyone tested the celebrants sickle to see if it does the same even tho its technically a dagger?
25:18 unexpected collab with GunchesBoats lol
The thing with the Misericorde is that even though it has a 140 crit rating, it's actually the Executioners axe that comes out with the highest overall crit damage in the game because if it's 115 crit rating and the fact that it's a Greataxe- which obviously means that it does waaaaaayy more damage than a dagger would. At least this is what I had got from my own testing, so maybe do take it with a grain of salt
But glintstone kris is one of my all time FAVORITE weapons in all of elden ring, let alone its WONDERFULLY beautiful design and sheath. Like to wield one in my right hand while wielding the golden order greatsword in my left.
Really awesome vid. I gotta say though, I am confused by how many people mispronounce Nerijus. The game literally spawns an NPC assistant that says the name a few seconds after he shows up.
i was not ready for you to say ka-tiny almost choked on dinner
My boy got a sponsor lets go get that bag??
And it's not raid shadow legends!
How did that miss!
How did that hit!
My favourite part 😂❤
Honestly, I love the speed of powerstancing daggers, but the range is to short for me to use them. I get that they have to have short range to be balanced (otherwise, even with the range of straight swords, they be the most overpowered class in the game), but that just makes me look to other weapon classes. They are very fun, but not as good as other classes.
This is the one ive been waiting for!
you could have brought the red branchsword man, you won on the verge of death in nearly all of the fights! good vid though.
Fun fact: Bandit can use Reduvia from jump street 👌
Pro tip for the pronunciation of npc names. Just listen to the dialogue during the fight with the bloody finger :)
Them parries were holy only cuz bro was praying it would work 😂
staff next. but only melee?
Samurai typically carried both a wakizashi and a katana as part of their armament
The wakizashi is actually a real dagger the samurai have them I believe don’t if it’s the same name though
Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you'd get more damage from crits if you infused the miserycorde with lightning damage
I believe you’re correct
I can't even imagine farming and uprgrading all those weapons. Also, respecing for every weapon definitely sucks. This is why your videos are great, keep it up.
It seems daggers are able to puree an opponent with incredible speed
I have a current favorite of combination of glint kris, perry and misorichord (i know its spelled wrong) 😅
Reduvia and the Glintstone Chris are the greatest daggers in game and the only two you'll ever need. Period!
The 140 crit dagger is better when using a non-physical affinity
Like fire with a strength build
I wish Erdsteel Dagger's Arcane Scaling got fixed.. A Scaling with Occult, and it gets NOTHING.
I want my double slash.
i want to powerstance the last two, basically a black and white powerstance
I haven't tried daggers yet but I like scimitars
Next great hammers?
I'm interested in the erdtree with magic affinity, I want to feel pain
the thing I do not understand about the Wakizashi: why would you ever powerstance it with a katana if you could just pick another katana in your offhand instead?
the Wakizashi can use parry, that's the only good reason I can come up with, so if you want to flex on someone...
parry or looking like a tanto
player: please buff ivory sickle
FS: (flashback of murky hand scythe)
FS: *NO*
This series got old 4 vids ago man start doing invasions again please
How many new game cycles have you done to get all theese respecs for your videos 😅
These videos are awesome.
celebrants sickle is meant for a pure dex build
Bloodstained dagger is str bleed dagger.
Great knife is dex bleed dagger.
Don't diss my boy Crystal dagger
He ain't do non wrong
It's pronounced Nair-e-us(iirc).
Nice showcase, Monk.
Power stance daggers with bleed damage 😂 destroy any and all in your path super quick
The top speed of daggers is: BRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Was waiting for the speed rating... Which one is fastest!???
Spoiler alert: All daggers are the same speed.
I knew we would get it.
I remember when you did the straight sword vid, I was wielding blade of calling and the black knife. You picked up on my yin and yang as soon as I used both ashes
Yeah!!! daggers!!
scythes when
So this was the secret sponsor 🗿
Daggers a kinda hard to use
The Erdsteel dagger performs extremely well with Fire Arts infusions. You would have a substantially better AR.
Did you know there is an attacking animation for pressing the attack button right after back stepping in place? works with power stance as well
he showed it off at the beginning of the video, so I presume he knows about it lol
The pvp player with hammer/spear was 100% a nioh player
well he used the French voice. I had to subscribe.
Dagger funny but kinda lacking in specific ash of wars
Am I the only one who constantly gets celebrant weapons without extra steps and low arcane?
haven't you done this before?
