    • @zelenang3537
      @zelenang3537 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Usually this kind of set up is for yellowtail scad and jack mackerel though. Just so happens we hook up fish this big in singapore. Ajing is just an art and a challenge that some people like to try.

  • @mistermatsuda
    @mistermatsuda 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    In Hawaii that kind of fishing in crowds would not be tolerated. For sure the fishermen here would be upset at you for using such a light setup that you can't bring your fish up promptly and have to weave over and under their rods. Lucky you, the fishermen there are patient. Not to mention all the break offs that leave the fish with the lure still in its mouth.

    • @zelenang3537
      @zelenang3537 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      this set up was actually meant for catching small fish like jack mackerel, yellowtail scads, and small queenfish. it just so happens that in singapore it tends to hook up fish like this. Fishing is not always about the most efficient way to catch fish, but sometimes you do things like this to put yourself up to the challenge of strength control and etc, like an art.

      Targeting larger sagai on an ajing setup isn't exactly ajing isit? I kinda agree, in this kind of situations, its not very considerate to the other anglers. If you know there are biggies around, you should use a heavier setup. It isn't all about bragging rights landing the biggest fish on the thinnest line. The other anglers want to fish too!

      @@fishingparrot636 ajing is fishing mackerel. Going for other species (like sagai in this case) is basically sagai fishing with a UL setup. If I use real bait on my fly rod, am I still fly fishing or am I bait fishing with a fly rod?
      Anyways, its just terminology which is a trivial matter. I just tend to agree with the original commentor on fishing etiquette in crowded spots.

  • @zichengweng8015

    Hi man, I know you are playing Ajing but from the video your drag is too low so you are unable to tire the sagai, esp with their high speed and stamina. Extended fights can even kill them from exhaustion. One small sagai on and you have to follow it around the whole jetty inconveniencing everyone, end up snapping and putting hooks and line in the fish. Increase drag just abit more and you can control the fish, not the fish control you...

      @@wilertgoh7702 Thank you, will take note and consider 🤗 Going around the T junction is a norm for Ajing angler to prevent the fish from swimming into the jetty pillars. You are meant to follow the fish as it runs. It’s part of ajing, and we all accept it. By using ajing to catch such big fish he’s challenging himself and his strength control. Fishing is not always the most efficient or easiest way to catch a fish. Sometimes you just want to see how well you can control strength, know your tackle’s breaking point, etc.

      No offence please. Just my thoughts. As a angler who believes in catch and release of small sizes fishes, use of appropriate gear to be fair in the fight. Using under sized gears which results in multiple line bustings with hoonks and lines enbedded in escaped fishes is considered abuse. Can you imagine the number of fishes swimming around in the sea with a hook in their mouth and busted fishing lines in toll? Let's try to use more appropiate gears to miminise unnescessary pain to the fishes. Thanks you!

    Hello, I really enjoy your videos but with all due respect, I think using slightly heavier gear would result in less line breakage and line deposit into the sea, less sagais (ones that you don't intend to keep or have escaped) harmed since the prolonged fights may overstress them and the hook may or may not remain in their mouths. Also, it wouldnt inconvenience the other anglers on the jetty too much whenever you have one hooked on. Thank you.

      Hi, can I know what you mean by "Slightly Heavier Gear" to catch Sagai at Bedok Jetty? I can see that you also make videos and I've seen how you struggled to bring up a small GT? Can I know what set up is that??

    • @barrabran
      @barrabran 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@fishyfishy4863 Very simple. Line poundage that doesn't result in broken lines for more than half of the fights for the reasons stated above. Prolonged fights and broken lines are part and parcel of fishing at times, but if your line is breaking so often, then perhaps it is too light to begin with, especially when fishing near structure.

    • @fishyfishy4863
      @fishyfishy4863 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@barrabran So what kind of line/poundage that you can suggest that doesnt brake half of the time when it get rubs into the jetty pillars? (100lb?) You sound like theres only 1 structure at the jetty? Dude! You fish on kayak right? Open waters doesnt even have structures (unless you count corals as one). Another thing, try fishing for them at the Jetty then maybe you can start talking. Part and parcel? You lack experience on this local places thats why you can easily say such things.
