A fairly easy way to find mimics is to look for multiple of the same object that wouldn't usually be together. And Mater, this game really supports creative thinker, keep that in mind.
Just as a general tip. You pretty much can get anywhere (heightwise) in this game. You are quite agile. Plus you now have the gloo cannon... Be creative! :) Regarding skills i personally think hacking and leverage (move out of way or simply being able to throw really heavy objects - hurts enemies a lot) are the most useful. Additionally of course "repair".
hennie only usedul leverage is 3 because of unpowered doors, use recycler charges or throw a leverage one object at a leverage 2 or 3 one and it moves it out the way

At 35:32 I was dying on the inside, knowing that one of the books was a mimic and hearing the little clicks it did. To be fair that one caught me on my own playthrough too ^^
Not sure if you'd prefer it but you can change the FOV in this game by going into the config files. Slider is supposed to be added later. It's rather simple to do. If you're interested.

Really enjoyable playthrough so far. TBH you seem to be much less scared than I thought. I think the Bioshock 1 and 2 playthrough hardened you significantly!

Helpful, maybe, but in my full playthrough exploring absolutely everywhere, I never needed to use the GLOO gun to get anywhere since there are ways to jump higher.
At 18:20 you were really lost, weren't you? I mean, you entered the helicopter platform through a proper door and then tried to go back by smashing windows :D I like that the in-game simulation manages to confuse even players who already know that it's there. It indicates how well they've made it.

Also, get hacking as soon as possible.
Hacking is REALLY important in this game - at least Hacking II
Duxio Aven Yea, I have Hacking II and Combat Focus II both really useful. Combat Focus is really good for killing Phantoms
If you run by sinks and water fountains, you can drink from them for like 1 hp each. Free health is good!

Tom Visser i mean in this vid mater cant repair due to lack of spare parts. and its helpful when you like to make climbing unreachable areas easier
