Great place to do running. I used to start at Santa Monica Pier at Colorado and head west on Ocean Avenue, running on the grass until I got to San Vicente Blvd. I would cross the street there and go running up the middle of San Vicente because the middle of the street was one long grassy path. I would run until I reached 26th Street and turn around and run back in the opposite direction. This was back in 1980 and I was 24 years old. I would run this route 3 times a week. Ocean Avenue was always a great place to walk and take visitors to see the sunset on the Pacific Ocean. Used to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the scenery and fresh air. Great place to walk with your date.
My Brownie Girl Scout troop from the nearby Roosevelt Elementary School went to the Camera Obscura decades ago...1958 and we had a wonderful time. They told us about how during one of the shows, the camera projected someone just outside getting their purse stolen. Men who were at the CO show ran outside, were able to capture the purse snatcher, and call police. So glad to see the Camera Obscura is still there. Do they still have demonstrations with the camera for the public to attend? Hope so.
