Hey Harstem! Love the videos, keep up the good work! After watching these I've ranked from bronze 3 to bronze 1. I can really feel myself improving, thanks a lot!
This is the best SC2 content being produced right now. No sensationalization, simple straightforward advice, and a few fun quips now and then. Thank you for uploading this.
That was so painfully to watch. Losing to turtle Terrans is the worst. I think we all have been there. Anyways, there’s a solution for everything. Some are easier, some are harder, but we will get there. And eventually being able to handle such situations feels pretty rewarding.
painful to see absolutely no reaction to the Banshees... at all. no extra observers, no cannons, no Phoenixes, too many zealots. anything counter is better than absolutely no counter
I'm a D1 zerg and I still get a lot out of this. Harstem communicates his game understanding with a laconic clarity no one else can. Definitely keeping my twitch subscription ;)
it's great how this series is basically the same as the Is It Imba or Do I Suck, just if you ask for advice and help, Harstem provides it nicely, if you whine about balance, you get ridiculed and smacked down :D
Yeah its crazy. Its like the only thing he actually practiced is playing build guides so he manages to get a decent supply decently fast; but otherwise never practiced any aspect of the game, ever.
Agreed, I think it would be an easy improvement if the video descriptions displayed the players' leagues because a diamond 1 protoss might struggle with the same idea but be unable to relate to players who are have plat 3 level macro. In this game, it's pretty obvious that the protoss player was floating way too many resources very early on and had he transferred probes from his nat to his 3rd and took a faster 4th base, he probably could have just made stargates and carriers ftw.
This game teaches a lot. How being 3 bases up throw everything while trading like 5:1. How to be screwed by 6 banshees 2 times in a row. How to loose 100 supply running into 15 tanks.
Playing against a turtle terran is starting the game where your opponent is presenting you with a rock and expecting you to bash your head against it. By not smashing your head on a rock and realizing that the turtling player puts themself at an economic disadvantage by over building defenses, which you would have smartly invested into economy, which will allow you to be safe and have a faster technological transition to the late game.
"Oh, Terran's going for massive wall-off on two bases with a bunch of tanks? Looks like I'm going to mass zealot because it's the ONE THING protoss can do to throw a game against PF+tanks". Seriously, if I saw that PF and no 3rd base, I go straight into 3 base mass carriers. Or go for a prism drop with immortals. I don't understand why he built a single zealot despite having all that free scout (don't know why that observer didn't go in to see even more though, could have easily caught those banshees early).
Bring back this series please. Recently i deleted all my pvp games because of frustration of teammates. So i decided, well.. you play alot of coop but it gets boring so quick. But these turtling terrans playing only siege units are my arch enemy. I dont have the patience.. even tho i can hold a terran on 2-3 bases and can cover the whole rest of the map in 15 minutes. But... i cant defeat them and get bored losing my whole army all the time.
I usually turtle and wait for them to attack my fortified base, and as soon as they do, my BC's will TJ to their base and kill their production buildings, then TJ back to my base and finish off what's left of his army. Only way to beat this is to scout scout scout and kill the outer bases forcing the Terran to attack first. Gold player btw lol.
Please Harstem, please respond, i just wasted so much crucual time trying to catch up to a dirty troller. I just played this game that lasted for 45 minutes. My opponent did the new meta cloak mine drop over and over, and even after i killed all the medivacs, he just kept on coming with 5 medivacs full of mines. When i tried attacking, with charge and storm, my whole army got annihilated by planetaries EVERYWHERE(literally). After i started making carriers and tempests off of 20 remaining probes, he simply dropped +3+3 mines onto my carriers and killed them all. I put more than 7 cannons in each base, yet the medivacs came through. In the end he just massed vikings and killed all my bases, threatening to kill my carriers when they tried to engage. He even had enough orbitals to mine out my last bases, through scanning and dropping 10 mules at a time. How do i beat this?
I generally feel like if you are on 5 bases and opponent turtling on 2, you should be able to win regardless. This does seem imbalance. Basically Terran can do no wrong?
I'm a silver league scrub, but if I seen a terran doing this, I'm going full air. VR's, carriers, tempest. I use VR's to snipe key buildings(hydra den, engineering bay, etc).
Hello Harstem, thank you for you videos, they are awesome. I am simply in gold leagues, however, maybe you have a tipp on how to deal with lurker hydra. I make a lot of observers but I have trouble keeping them alive. Also the lurker range seems to be a problem for me. I am using so far colossus, zealot, archon, stalker. KR Ralf
In this league, it actually seems like that was the Protoss' focus and strong point. I think either diversifying counter considerations or slightly controlling the attacks better would be his easiest ways to see vast improvements in his play with relatively little effort.
I had just been thinking, wow, I've been losing to tanks for years now, I guess I'll never figure it out. 3 minutes later, TH-cam: I gotchu bro Sometimes the TH-cam algorithm works after all
I want to learn and am hear to listen but if you are going to keep doing this for a living you should work on your public speaking so that I stay awake during the lesson.
Because you actually go over everything so thoroughly, regardless of level, makes your vids the absolute best sc2 content there is right now.
I concur, it is on point with no extra nonsense and clearly states why someone lost and how they could have prevented it. Top content

It’s cute lol
That's the spirit 👌
I highly recommand B2GM vibe's videos also, perfect to improve !
I wish I was in Bronze :(

A single tempest would win this game.
You have the patience of a saint harstem.
No kidding. Watching this toss play was just awful.
When u see a planetary fortress in front of the natural u just go to 6 bases before 10 min

I shouldn't be surprised at this point, but this video was astoundingly good. Thanks Kev

For me, when I see turtle Terran I just expand, go Stargate, and wait for Skytoss death ball to roll over the Terran.
Even a bunch of void rays is enough

Great video, very helpful advice. Will definitely help in my games.
So painful to watch this Protoss play... Good vid, thanks for the content!

...and not throwing your economic advantage away by taking bad trades and allow flybys and runbys.
Which was how this player lost.
I was hoping for some more advanced tips against a better turtling terran, but still it was interesting to watch (and painful also)😊
Yes, thank you so much! Right when I need it
a terrain wall of lifting barracks and a pf... I have never seen that. That seems like the most expensive wall ever

If you are playing Protoss vs a turtle Terran just go straight to air and put cannons and batteries in every base.
I usually turtle and wait for them to attack my fortified base, and as soon as they do, my BC's will TJ to their base and kill their production buildings, then TJ back to my base and finish off what's left of his army. Haha, kinda throwback to the very early WoL days where I would lose to really bad players who turtle at island bases and mass banshees.
I love Harstem!
Thanks for the winks.

u re like a yoda to me harstem
Banshee? They usually 2base bc rush me then when it doesnt work the leave

He already has a "How do I beat this" episode on Lurkers you might wanna check out :)
@@Jasonmoofang found it thank you.
Uggh I hate much even thought I really know what to do or how to counter it. I always get overconfident and just lose to the Terran :( feels
Sad to say the protoss lose to the lack of his base management. Macro. Macro. Macro dude.
In this league, it actually seems like that was the Protoss' focus and strong point. I think either diversifying counter considerations or slightly controlling the attacks better would be his easiest ways to see vast improvements in his play with relatively little effort.
yet i dont know the game, but i completly understanded and could follow to the point that the P should have easily won that game....
First 30 seconds seem to have not rendered correctly, it seems stuck to me.
i think he's reading the message on his PC and SC2 is frozen in the meantime.
@@HullimulliReview Ah makes sense then
