@@izenacs just pressing A and D rapidly is not counter strafing though. He was counter strafing but it wasnt consistent with his shots, which is what the argument he was talking about references
What the no counter strafe dude was saying was that just letting go of your strafing key has the same effect in valorant as pressing aaaa then d right click. You had to do this in cs because your momentum would carry for a small time after you let of of a or d so you had to press a then d or vice versa to get off set the momentum so the game would read you as standing still and you could shoot. Like counter strafing is still better because it reduces the chance you get hit, but it’s the same thing as not counter strafing in this game
No, there is still momentum in this game. It’s just not as much. OD is saying the advantage of counter strafing is so small that it doesn’t matter, not that there isn’t any advantage at all.
there was a clip from yay where he said you press AAAAAAAA tap D then shoot that's what he says is counter strafing is in VAL. And if you press , and . you can precisely watch it frame by frame and can see just before zekken is about to shoot he presses either A or D , so ig counter strafing is there in VAL
When he kills the jett in the breeze clip, u can see how he pressed a to move, but once the viper ult faded, he pressed d and then adjusted to the jett's head, and then pressed d to his right and pressed a and then adjusted to sage's head, which u can see using , and . to look frame by frame. the confusion might be how he's pressing a and d to make himself harder to shoot at while maintaining accuracy in the spray transfer earlier, where he wasn't really peeking an angle but rather in the middle of a fight already, so he wasn't moving fast enough to need to counter strafe to stop momentum but needed it to make sure he doesn't get too inaccurate
He never said that he doesn't counter strafe he is talking abt the discussion abt if it is necessary to counter strafe and he just wants the discussion about it ended
Why is everyone in the comments mentioning he presses a and d to counter strafe before shooting? We already know he does. The argument is about whether counter strafing is actually necessary or not. Which it isn’t. There is not a noticeable enough difference like there is in CS, it’s just a habit that carried over from CS and has been preached for Val as well even though it doesn’t actually make a difference in Val
I agree, this actually shows nothing. Although I personally think it does make a difference, albiet a smaller one when compared to cs, this video demonstrates nothing. Its just an overlay showing that he does it lol
It's not necessary but it gives a small advantage in a gunfight. Strafing makes you harder to hit, resets recoil in a 1vx situation, and just generally makes burst shooting easier
this game is extremely forgiving if you don't counterstrafe religiously. that doesn't necessarily mean there's no difference just that you get punished way less if you don't.
People in the comments talking about if he counter strafes or not. That’s not the point of the video. The point is prove that is counter strafing a necessary mechanic and it’s not. You don’t need to counter strafe in this game if you don’t want to.
counter strafing is not a thing in valorant. you stop almost immediately after letting go of the movement key of your choice. (data for this has already been recorded) it only provides you with a sense of timing and rhythm when shooting.
OD26 specifically said he wanted pros who counterstrafe to record their pov. He didn't stop anything, nor did he intend to. He's doing this BECAUSE he counterstrafes.
@@ten_cents bro he taps the opposite key to have actual good movement? If this was actual counterstrafing he would counter it to stop it hence counter the other strafe
The fact that he does conterstrafe doesn't mean it's necessary or makes any difference. For me personally since we don't have a good server to play on I have alot of connection issues so counterstrafing is worse for me unless im constantly moving and only firing in the small time window where the gun is accurate. Saying "since the pros do it you should do it too" is wrong. You should do what's best for you.
I like how people are looking at what he is doing instead of looking at what actually happens in the game. Who cares if a person counterstrafes or not? What matters is that in the game, there is no difference between counters strafing and letting go. You can do it if you are comfortable with it, there is no disadvantage except for you having to press more buttons. But if you are used to it from a different game, or learned it in Valorant because somebody told you it actually helps, just keep doing what you are comfortable with, but stop making other people take your side. There is no practical in-game advantage to NEITHER of two approaches
Tbh it has a difference of 9 milliseconds that is nothing for the average valorant player, but I guess in a competitive pro play environment those seconds matter
Its 2ms actually and no most pros are not using it since there are more important things for pros to practice like raw aim and crosshair placement @@manuellapakov2601
People keep forgetting that this game runs on unreal engine (not the CS one which is Source) the same one for fortnite, gears of war and numerous other games that DONT have counterstrafing bc of its physics its simple as that
"counter strafing" isnt actually in Valorant at all , atleast not in the way people think The entire idea of "counter strafing" in CSGO was that while strafing, pressing a movement key in the opposite direction would cause you to come to a stop /faster/ than you would have, had you simply let go of your strafe key. But in Valorant this mechanic is essentially non existent. Multiple people have done the actual frame counting with precise artificial movement inputs and counting frame by frame they found that there is absolutely no discernable difference in stopping speed between 'counter strafing' and simply letting go of your movement key. And this is the case for alot of the more intricate mechanics that are such a main staple in CS like bhopping and server tick rates. All these mechanics in Valorant have been purposely tuned in such a way that they are relatively easy to pick up and understand for a beginner , without the slurry of arbitrary secondary movement properties that they dont outright tell you about, and would inevitably impact your performance in the longrun. But as a concluding statement id just like to say that Yes, doing this in game does give you a very slight advantage in the fact that you are more consistently *on the move* but it does /NOT/ give you an advantage in *stopping speed* which is the whole reason its even called "counter strafing" at all , as you're countering the effects of strafing. But yea, any perceived advantage in stopping speed from practicing this sort of thing is you simply gaining experience and understanding of the games actual movement mechanic timing and being rewarded for it *because* its consistent and straightforward.
i usually press A or D, release, then fire and still i can actually shot in the head, need timing and fast reaction to get accurate for the first shot. is it counter strafing?
