He wasn't treated unfairly in Montreal, he just wasn't reliable enough in our own zone, his lack of physicality was consistently taken advantage of by the opposition. He has all the tools (size, skating, shot) but for some reason he keeps getting pushed off the puck, he could become a very good D if he started using his size and added some grit to his game. I think his problem is between his ears (lack of confidence). I hope he does well for the Preds ... it was never going to happen in Montreal with all the prospects coming up the ranks in the next few years.
There weren't veteran defensemen in Montreal to follow, you got that right, Savard doesn't play a style for him to model after and Matheson has his glitches as well. Playing with Josi will help this kid understand how to play within his skills. I think he's going to blossom there, he really only needs to play as much as possible, Montreal has too many young guys, Carrier will help the Habs D-men take the next step and I hope Justin gets to do what we all know he can do. He wasn't treated unfairly though IMO, Montreal has been in tough quite a while.
We all knew this day was coming. Habs had too many prospects at D. Justin and Harris were the smart trades. With reinbacher and Mailloux coming we had too many d’s unfortunately
sad to see you go but I think you should have stayed in Laval longer to develop more but I do not think Montreal's style of play really suited your style.hopefully you will fit in well with the Predators and shine... best of luck
