I think it was chosen just because the provider of the voice and text gave it. When you say complexity, are you talking about the consonant series? If so, it's not *too* complicated. Each phoneme has two different ways of writing it, and depending on the way, the following vowel is pronounced differently. Ex: ត & ទ are both consonant [t], but adding the vowel ិ [e/i] to each makes it តិ [te] & ទិ [ti]. by themselves, ត & ទ are [tɑː] and [tɔː] respectively.
