This is a perfect example of grinding can make you successful. Dude took 8 years grinding. Respect
Sampling in and of itself is art. Say what you will about it being “theft”, but in my opinion I think sampling is actually a compliment to the original artist/ composer. At that point you’re a fan to the highest degree. You like a song so much it makes you want to put your own spin on it and add your creative input. I understand why people are against sampling, but artists should take it as a compliment that new producers see something in the original body of work which makes them willing to bring a part of history back to life.
I have been introduced to so many artists through hearing a sample on a song. Sampling, in many ways, is a form of paying homage to the original artist.
Of course, always ask for permission before taking a sample to create a hit (we have seen bad outcomes like with the Nicki Minaj and Tracy Chapman case).
Hip hop was born from sampling
Word.
I agree and most of the older artist have no problem with being sampled but they deserve credit too. Give them their share if you use their music.
Cope
I remember years ago when Frank Dukes won the Red Bull beat competition and collaborated with Ghostface. He really is changing the game with that official sample library.
Yeah that's when I remember him🤙
I was at that 1 in ATL at club Opera an I would have to admit, Frank Dukes came with Some Heat. The Crowd Felt that HANNIBAL DA BEAT ANIMAL Won and frank was given the Nod but I liked it either way.
This needs so many more views bro
this is QUALITY content
It’s 2021 and real content is still under appreciated. Much love.
The Kingsway music library has a phenomenal collection of samples.
Also I can tell this channel is going places. subbed.
Super dope video man. I’m looking forward to future videos💯🏎
Mate this was the most amazing take on sampling I've ever seen. Thank you :)
Very well done, keep up the great work!
Love the editing on this vid, keep up the great work man
Would not have found this video if I didn't search frank dukes, no one know who this guy is... would suggest changing the title!
Also, the explanation of sampling is awesome but for this video specifically it's lengthy and takes away from the main point: Frank -- might want to consider making a separate video on sampling to link to if someone wanted more info on that specifically.
Your content is incredible though, keep it going man!
Amazing content! Please keep doing these
Wow.. this is amazing. Looks like it should have MILLIONS of views. Your channel will blow up soon 🔥🔥🔥. Really enjoyed this
Really dope video man! Love the production quality. Can def see the inspiration from Vox. Already knew Frank was the goat, but now I have even more respect for him.

One of the many pioneers of essential loopmakers of today's hip hop.

WOW Sir you earned yourself a sub
Why do u not have milions of subs lol im subbing🙏
I love samples helps move the soul
When I discovered Kingsway amd therefore Frank Dukes as a producer last year it transformed my ear and view on how to approach music.
A revolutionary and humble guy that quietly cemented a legacy before the name became well known outside industry circles. Finally the secret weapon is getting his shine though!
This was a great book report.
Sampling is the ultimate form of art in my opinion. Something is so good it inspires ppl to make other pieces of art based off another one. But there is a clear difference between a good use of a sample and a really lazy use lol .
Dj shadow really showed the world that there’s a whole mentality and depth that most of us had no idea - we just thought “whatever, you just dunno how to play guitar so you take others”
I agree. I used to hate to hear Puffy back in the day just use the entire damn song and not be creative.
Lol ripping off anothers work is the ultimate form of art? What about the dude that actually played the music? Yall are nuts
@@cjnv48 tell me you’re musically inept without telling me
@@playboimusk4803 tell me you lick mens ass without telling me you lick men's ass .... god yawl gen zers are corny
Dope!
more videos! don't stop
great video essay
Great content. I have a passionate opinion bout the art of sampling. My big placement feel thru wit ye on WTT due to sampling 🤦🏿♂️
Fantastic video! I love frank dukes, thanks for making it. One note - work on your diction, some parts of the narration are slurred, rushed, or not enunciated well enough. This is super well researched though
The way this video described "analog recording" as if it's some mysterious long lost process... had me on the floor bruh!!....🤣🤣😂
It kind of is
@@double0double0 not at all unless ur like 13
Hilarious! 😁
Crazy as heck
Good Video 📸 video 👍🏾 information ℹ️
Thank you for the most condensed video with so much info on frank i just got into him and the more i learn about it looks like the more i like him. Question though so all his samples in kingsway or originals not taken? Is that what he did
Frank is a huge inspiration
sampling is collaborative ,its a part of the art
Best content
Sampling is definitely part of the art. I love listening to rare obscure shit like 70s Japanese funk or something like that and sampling it.
Also great video. Had to subscribe for this type of content. Keep the videos coming! It’s only a matter of time until this channel blows up
This feels like an ad
Bro how the hell you got only 3k subs? TH-cam tripping fr
Frank Dukes krazy good 🚫🧢
talking in codes was actually released in 2009 but on a mixtape titled "War Angel" since it was a mixtape no was paid.
Frank Dukes is the fucking MVP!!!!
I love Charles Bradley too
I’m a producer who has sampled tracks and made original tracks and at the end of day it’s still you being creative as hell even if an dope idea comes from you sampling. Sampling is frowned upon because people look at it like the producer is stealing or being lazy in creating when the truth is sampling is not easy at all. Sometimes it can take hours to chop a sample up into a groove. I’ve always made my original tracks a whole lot faster than my sampled tracks. It’s creative and a process either way.
Ok, nice!
Kinda reminds me of the company Erick Sermon helped start called Tracklib.
I wouldn’t say he “revolutionized” it, but I get the point of the video.
Sad how basically everyone knows who Cubeatz are but barely anyone knows who Frank is, there wouldn’t be Cubeatz without Frank.
Cubeatz is a lot less interesting too imo
@@feelingevaporated2912 for sure, I got respect for Cubeatz but Frank alone is just more talented and musically inclined
"This newly discovered technique...."
This video couldn't be more hipster.
hahahahahah
Video essay producers. Why has this never been done
tyler using someone else's hook on i think isn't sampling, it's interpolating. sampling involves using audio from another track.
It is in a legal aspect. It only applies to the publishing rights owner and not the original master rights holder.
He’s looking at me with his eyes 👁👁
Here because he produce Monster with Daniel Caesar, Bieber and Shawn Mendez. He also create beats for The Weeknd
I hate when artist try bring down their producers like producers and engineers deserve to shine too.
Been known about frank!! He's a monster
mam changed the game
Do cubeatz next
i'm here after Song for no one with the intro of Admirável gado novo from Zé Ramalho
So disclaimer got changed on Kingsway recently so no more royalty free samples 😕 you have to negotiate sample clearance don't believe go an look in Faq section
Frank Dukes the GOAT
Lmao
I got some of his samples
Why would Menahan Street Band decline to clear the sample? Their music would've reached an entirely different demographic/market, not to mention royalties.
It happens all the time...nothing new....and a lot them do not like hop hop........ or want their music sampled nor need the check....
BECAUSE their b!tches
Bitch don’t kill vibe was produced by Scoope Deville for those who were wondering.
6:54 that typo confused tf out of me
How about Scott Storch?
Did I just watch 9 minutes of the video just to get to a sampling library website plug?
If they’re taking legal action that means you’re doing something right!
Song at 3:42?
Sampling is one thing but Frank dukes greatest achievement was Bloodsport by far
