I wrote my senior biochemistry thesis at Colorado State University on bioremediation and microbial mining of thorium, then moved to California in hopes of working on Mountain Pass Mine owned by Molycorp (which was headquartered in Colorado). Microbial mining produces a not insignificant amount of world copper output and I wanted to apply green mining technology to rare earths with a focus on thorium and uranium refining. If you want to read my thesis it's publicly available through Colorado State. I cited a number of Chinese and Australian researchers, unfortunately I don't speak Vietnamese.

China used its own cheap labor and no environmental laws to grow - Western powers used free labor (slavery) and the racial/religious superiority as a justification to subjugate others to maximise their profits - theres no comparison but the likes of the BBC and other western media tend to want to make that argument - arent you worried about China's dominance? look at their human rights? all there companies are state-led and involved in espionage? whilst China has been exploited by the West for so many years - starting from the 8 nation alliance which forced China to open its trade - flooding the Chinese market with opium and destroying the lives of millions - affecting every facet of society to now - still trying to bully China into submission but the world is a lot of clued up than the West thinks - just stop reading BBC for a week and start watching RT or Al-Jazera instead and let me know what you notice - 'someone being murdered' and 'a life was lost' describes the same thing but to the viewer it completely changes the narrative! truth is...most corporate conglomerates are the ones blackmailing us - from tax evasion to designing closed systems so you can't customise or update and have to upgrade at their whim - Chinese companies too - the Chinese government backed local Didi (cab hailing service) instead of Uber and effectively kicked them out of the country - countries in general are just trying to protects its people and interest - people in power just want to stay in power by making themselves look good but the focus of concern is the large corporate conglomerates and not geopolitics (smokescreen) i.e. what I really want to know is which company holds the market share for rare metals or semi conductors and why I cant get myself a PS5!

In America, we're very focused on short term profits and never ending elections cycles - for example US Congressional elections take place every 2 years, which means they only do like a year of actual work (holidays, campaigning, etc). And I wouldn't worry about the US defence. They're pretty much the safest nation on Earth, what with two massive oceans plus two weak neighbours surrounding you. Neither China nor Russia has any capacity to seriously attack America, short of the nukes flying. What whatever military leverage they do have might afford them is simply insurance against the US sending its military closer to THEIR territory, not the reverse. Idk. 1.Myanmar Malaysia and Vietnam can sell the raw material to whoever they want for the right price if you offered. 2.you said the west didn't have the ability to refine the raw materials, so even if you bought the raw materials, you wouldn't be able to process them anyway.
