Im not sure if hospitals are even taking volunteers right now :( some stopped completely because they want minimal exposure to patients. Fingers crossed that you can volunteer in the future!
Rosa Perez yea i guess so i really want to experience working at a hospital its been my dream. Also volunteering would be a good opportunity to show universities that you are committed to your passion!
That’s true I definitely suggest finding a hospital or a clinic that does except volunteers as soon as you are wanting to do so. It really does help out when you apply for schools or any programs may be interested in. They like seeing that you care for the community and if it’s something you’re really interested in it gives you great experience as well to learn about healthcare :)
I love this... I'm in New Zealand and I'm starting volunteering on Feb 7th and am so excited (but nervous as well) for this. Back in 2021 I did a Level 4 Certificate of Business, Administration and Technology specialising in Medical Administration at my local institution and passed it so I'm going to be using volunteering to build up my career to get a future job to become a Ward Clerk. ❤️❤️

I think the hardest part is the location of the hospital, the closest one to me doesn’t have their website updated. And also COVID means they might not be doing volunteering right now

very informative video! i didn’t realize that you could volunteer in a specific area in the hospital. i’m in community college and i really want to be a CRNA but due to covid, i’m not sure if volunteering is being accepted. i really want to gain as much experience as i can so i can be ready for nursing school. do you have any tips about where else i can volunteer? i would greatly appreciate that! 🤍

Hi there. No hospitals do not require you to have experience in the medical field prior to volunteering :)
Thank you for sharing. Lots of the hospital are asking for TB testing, CPR certification, and a few more. Did you have to do all of that?

How old do we have to be? I really wanna do this because I honestly love helping people. I also wanna become a surgeon in the future. I'm not sure if my parents will allow me to volunteer with all the Coronavirus.
Roblox ___ typically it’s 16 years old :) I say you should try to talk to your parents and let them know how you feel about it. There’s lots of safety precautions in place as well to make sure you are safe! Best of luck in becoming a surgeon 😊

Im not the girl in the video, but the interview in my experience wasn't anything extreme. They asked why I wanted to volunteer, if I had any family or friends in the healthcare field, and to just give insight into your day to day life. They also asked about what assignment I would like the best, and what my schedule looked like and what days I would be available. I haven't heard of anyone getting turned away so long as they actually wanted to volunteer with the hospital and not just for the sake of school hours or something like that.

I am interested in a hospital volunteer and interested in getting my clinical medical assistant degree 💙but that’s all on hold due to covid 19.but yes I will be going to school in March or later this year. It kinda suck 🙄😞I just want some experience before going to school.
I would definitely suggest volunteering at the hospital. I hope things get better wit covid and you get the opportunity to do so

After volunteering and getting to know people , along with gaining experience - Where you able to get a job at the hospital?
Funny thing is I actually never ended up working at the hospital. I was working as a pharmacy technician while I was volunteering at the hospital so I didn’t feel the need to work there. It would be a great door of opportunity if you are a hospital volunteer and then apply for employment because you can always use your volunteer coordinator as a reference. I will speak more on my journey, and where I am at now in my life very soon in an upcoming video.

Did u work at another place (paid job) while volunteering? And what was your volunteering schedule like per week?
Yes I did I was volunteering while I was in college and I was also working part time as a pharmacy technician. I only volunteered one day a week for about four hours.

No I did not need a degree.
I learned on the job and then I got sponsored to take the PTCB exam :)

How long you did volunteer and if a person volunteer and they decide to work in the job could they do that cuz everyone say you need a college degree to work at a hospital I don't believe that
I was a hospital volunteer for 1 year. You could work in a hospital without a college diploma but there are limited positions. Examples include food service worker, gift shop, medical assistant (need certificate), pharmacy tech...
@@RosaPerez I got my high school diploma but I never went to college became to be a mother take care of my children but I did volunteer when I was in high school but now I'm old lol I did food service preparing meals for patient... kind of scared to go back if they don't hire me
When is the best time to start volunteering as I am going to be a freshman in college on a premed track next year. Can I start early or just wait until after I finish freshman year and volunteer in the summer before sophomore year
you should volunteer in the summer.
I recommend summer volunteering as well. Its very nice and more flexible than if you were to do it during the school year.

That is a great question! I did have to answer some questions on the application. I can check to see what the questions were again!

I believe you can at certain hospitals but it just depends on which one you’re looking at. They probably don’t allow that right now because of Covid as well.

@@RosaPerez i have been volunteering for 6 months and the background company HireRight is requesting w2 but i dont have it i am applying a job in another hospital what do i do?
I will talk to the people and you’re volunteering department and see what they say about that. I know when I was a volunteer I didn’t need to submit a W-2 for whatever reason unless you’re getting compensated but yeah I would definitely ask them.
