      in general black zip ties seem to hold up well over time as opposed to the white ones, which get yellow and brittle more quickly. I buy them by the hundred from Harbor Freight.

    Nicely done Eric. Never Seize or some other type of product is a must. I think I have mentioned this before but when I was working with ROV's we used AquaLube because Never Seize in a salt water environment especially into Aluminum caused issues due to Electrolysis because of the metals in Never Seize. AquaLube always worked and never washed away. Great job Eric.

    I glad you took the time you needed!
    One thought. Generally I agree with mixing spades up.
    But the way it is now, if you take them out. Someone can connect the pos and neg together.
    And when it comes to soldering your wires before crimping. When you have uninsulated like you used, you can flow solder in after crimp.
    I like doing that when I have the time.
    Thanks again for the videos.
    These are just my dumb little thoughts. :)

    Eric!! Love your videos, man!
    They came in very handy when I used to work on my 2008 Element SC. I had to part ways with my Ellie because some drunk driver smashed into it pretty badly in the middle of the night while my car was parked curbside, he totalled my Ellie. If that hadn't happen I'd kept the Ellie forever. Had to get a new car. It's still very satisfying to watch your videos.
    Hopefully one day Honda brings back the Ellie with a more capable engine.

    Great vid. The one thing I would say is that headlight modification is actually federally illegal. Now a different housing is another ball park, but according to NVSS 108, it kinda shouldn't be done either, as it's not what came with the vehicle. On the other hand, the headlights you have installed, being bi-function are probably meant for HID, so the HID install there wouldn't be an issue as opposed to installing them in a reflective housing. Just a couple of notes for you.

    @14:30 Liberally coating the fasteners with antisieze in areas where rust is a problem... yes. Earlier I was screaming, "Eric, coat your fasteners with antisieze! (because you're doing it wrong)" Well done! Being from the rustbelt myself, I always coat any exposed-to-the-elements fastener. I just sold my Tacoma I owned for 12.5 years and the new owner asked if he could re-contact me with questions, and my reply was, "If it's got antisieze and it came apart, sure; otherwise, I haven't touched it."

    When it comes to removing a headlight assembly, the best design I have seen is on the Volvo XC90. The steps are:
    Open hood, pull two L shaped metal strips up and remove the assembly. That's it, no tools required, takes 15 seconds and if the assembly needs to come fully off, there's one plug. I love them.

    Great to have you back Eric. And very greatfull you put those crimps on. I almost went mad over it. A little note, soldering and then crimping can cause bad crimps. Also those insulated crimps you spoke about arent weather proof. You can spray wax oil over the top to help with corrosion prevention. Also ebay do have oem style 2 way weather proof connectors like Fiat use

    I find that projectors blind you more than reflectors. It's crazy how car manufacturers are now using hid as stock headlights for these projectors and I swear when it gets in your eye, IT GETS IN YOUR EYE

    • @ericthecarguy
      @ericthecarguy  6 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      If properly aimed, this have a really sharp cutoff to prevent that. I'll show it in more detail on the video I plan to make soon, HID vs LED vs Halogen in Projector housings.

    • @iiSup3rior
      @iiSup3rior 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      EricTheCarGuy yeah well in Texas you got too many assholes in lifted trucks who can't move a wrench to adjust the headlights. I have a 2002 expedition and I took the time to adjust all three knobs.

    • @RenePerez-pu4cj
      @RenePerez-pu4cj 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      EricTheCarGuy I’ve been told by guys that do lighting work on cars that you can’t necessarily have HID’s on halogen projectors. Halogen projects are made different from HID projectors. In order to have good lighting from projector headlights, you must have the right kind of projectors for the application.
      Now I personally didn’t know that but the info is out there.

    • @iiSup3rior
      @iiSup3rior 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rene Perez if you put hid into a projector the hid will get too hot and start to literally burn through the projector. That's why it's not recommended.

    • @RenePerez-pu4cj
      @RenePerez-pu4cj 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Lots of projectors have HID's. Projectors are meant to have HID's in them so they can focus all that light through the lenses. What I am saying that, that halogen projectors lenses are slightly different from HID projectors. Look it up, you can find information on them.

    🤣 I feel your pain brother with the rusty bolts😅 Itʻs ALWAYS a celebration when they come out and the end of the world when the threads strip out and/or the fasteners break

    Great video Eric. Please allow me to make a suggestion concerning a 2002 pontiac grand prix se. If any of you own a car like this then please put some brand new tail light assemblies on the back. The old ones are wore out, cloudy, and unsafe. Be expecting a rear end collision if you don't change the old assemblies out.
