We just completed this guitar, that looks like a banner SJ (with a gold top), but is built after a 1939 J-35 (3 unscalloped tone bars) that we blueprinted.
Although the gold top was quite challenging to achieve (this ain't no solid body or electrified arch top), we are particularly pleased about the way this guitar sounds. It's got late '30s Gibson tone to booth.
We gave this guitar a light relic treatment, to open up its tone even more: although it sounded great even before we checked the finish, we thought the gold top would greatly benefit from finish checking, and we were right...
We want to build another Gibson with this J-35 type construction. Maybe with the looks of the 1929 HG-24 prototype (see at 6:25)? Who's up for it?...
Ah yeah! Awesome guitar!
Thanks!
Very cool 😎 guitar, and it sounds awesome. Great job!
Thanks!
Very cool 😎
Thanks!
Bellissimo strumento ed idea
grazie
Beautiful it has the tone i like smooth deep and not to bright
Thanks!
OMG is that beautiful. How is a gold top j45 NOT a thing?
Because it’s such a hassle to shoot a gold top on a acoustic guitar! 😅
Fantastic sounding guitar, and looks great too. I’m only curious did you ever consider using gold mother of pearl for those inlays? Maybe it would be too much. You make me want one like that only with bell bronze, not brass. A sunburst bell brass J-35 with split parallelograms. No bronze pearl, though. Maybe plastic. Maybe black pearl.
Gold MOP would not have blended in well with the rest. We thought gold dust would have looked better
beautiful instrument (and wonderful, moody zep rendition) .. .
thanks! the original is in the key of C# but it's played in the key of D (dropped D tuning). I always thought they tuned guitar and bass half a step down but I read recently that the tune was recorded in the key of D, then the tape was slowed down to make it sound heavier during mixing. Hence it ended up sounding in the key of C#
What strings are you using on this fantastic guitar ?
those are 80/20 .012s
Oh okay elixir strings ?@@BagnascoCasatiGuitars
@@stephanb3544 no no. Never elixir
Che pezzo è quello alla fine? Non ricordo
Redemption song
This guitar is a pre war guitar (WW3)
We love this definition, although we hate to think about any WW3 happening anytime soon or late!
