women get some stiff time for dui deaths. i came here from a page where one got 30 yrs to life and another got 50 yrs. the amazing thing here is 8 yrs for killing a cop!
Only 8 years for killing a cop? She ought to be thanking whatever higher power she believes in that’s all she got. Considering the seriousness of that situation…she got a slap on the wrist.
Just curious why did the cop keep circling her while she was piss drunk leaving the bar in the Wee am hours & not pull her over? It’s clearly on cctv in the trial that he circled her not once but twice without making contact. Driving by slow each time but not stopping her. The irony of what happened later is crazy.
She should get the minimum. She's pretty, an intelligent an could have a future. The cop is dead. He chose to work that job. She seems sad an sorry for her actions. They did the right thing by giving the minimum. She has a future to salvage. The Cop is gone so it doesn't matter. Um sure the widow got paid

How can we know for sure the cop would have died if he had been waring a seat belt? It is the law and it has been proven to save lives. It saved the girls life. It is most probable, given He was in a Cop car, that he would have survived the head on, seeing that she did. Cop cars are made extra safe are they not? So how can they prove he caused his death if he in fact might have attributed to his death. I know this sounds cruel, but If i get on a dangerous ride at Disney world and refuse the restraints provided to me for my protection, and then fall out for not using them, who then is at fault. This officer knew unsafe people are on the streets at 4:30 am … yet he did not protect his own life. Yes she is guilty of dui, driving on wrong side, lights off, and a collision. But of murder, its not so black and white. I think the jury must have considered this when giving her the min sentence.
Perfectly fair. The Cop chose to be out the road looking for drunks. He found one. I feel worse for the pretty young lady. Hopefully she gets a life an the Gov doesnt sue the sheet out of her

Remember it only takes one silly mistake for something serious to happen. No one is perfect and sadly she is paying the price for a decision she made in a split second. Think!
when i was a kid drunk driving wasn't even taken very seriously and there were drunk driving wrecks all over the place all the time. if you got pulled over and were decent to the cop it wasn't unusual for him to just follow you home to make sure you made it and forget about it
Hey, this should be made into a Hollywood film, and especially if her cell mates take a liking to her, lol! But seriously, she'd better take care of her diet, bearing in mind that the food is mostly poisoned garbage - and that's on the OUTSIDE!

That’s not justice for her behaviour and if she’d pleaded guilty she wouldn’t have put the family through even more pain.
