The Kimura Trap is a unique method in grappling of utilizing a submission as a position / transition. It tethers your opponent to the threat of the lock, forcing them into a dilemma of maneuvering between two undesirable outcomes, allowing you more time and efficiency in your offense. In this video, Prof. Jared Jessup (@professorjaredjessup & @iqjiujitsu on Instagram) and I explore some of our favorite uses of this concept and why it is so effective.

Fantastic explanations here! So great to see a video on the kimura trap!
Glad you liked it!
Wooooo yay that looked super cool! Cant wait for practice. Great, now i won't be able to sleep till then, thanks guys. Ugh 🙄
Great video got a question tho: how do you keep your training partner from putting his knee/shin on your portion arm at 0:59?
Or what do you do if he does it? I play a lot of Kimura/Trap, but my professor isn’t as deep into it, so I have to figure a lot of that stuff out for myself 😅
Thanks for the video tho :)
I love entering off of defending the single leg too.
This was an awesome video.
I appreciate that!
