Our Story:
We are Carissa, Iwan & Frankie the sausage dog, and in 2020 decided one night over a bottle of wine that moving from North Wales to Portugal would be a good idea. Within a month we were on the road to Portugal to find the perfect piece of land to call home. We picked up Albi, Joao and Simao the cats along the way, as well as Diogo the podengo and a flock of chickens.
Subscribe to follow our project as we turn an old stone barn into our home, and learn the ropes of looking after a piece of land to make an abundant garden and one day, our very own winery.
I love watching all your animals enjoy their lives; but I am especially filled with joy when I watch Diogo. Thankyou to every one who helped, and especially yourselves for saving this bountiful bundle of energy. :)))
I love seeing him so joyfully bounding over the field, knowing that when Carissa and Iwan found him he was so badly damaged. They saved his life and he celebrates his newfound life exuberantly. 🐕🧡🐕

I am so glad you now have the Air Con, I bet that has made a world of difference and is so nice that both you and the animals benefit from it. PS: Clarissa, I would find an old pillow case or 2 and cut and sew to size to put all the pillow fill inside of that, then stuff that inside the cushion.
Maybe try laying black plastic along the stone wall to cover the mimosa shoots. In the summer heat it should cook them, as well as denying sunlight. Then next winter have fires to burn the stumps and down into the roots.

Could you use bed pillow cases to make inner bags for the couch cushion stuffing? Or even sew some bags from a sheet…which can be an economical way to get a lot of fabric for utilitarian projects.

You can use patches to repair holes. My niece have used a turtle, flower, a bee on her nice cotton quilt that her cat damaged. When I first saw it I thought it was part of the design.

Lovely .. something i always do is hang greens, lettuces etc up using string tied around the stalk. Chicken love pecking upwards and it makes it much easier for them to nip smaller manageable pieces xxx

When working at a deli, we would put our lettuce in a deep bowl or pot and float it in cold water, in the refrigerator. The leaves stay crisp for a couple of days. You can cut off the roots and put most of the lettuce under-water.

I will never get bored watching your videos. I love it. I grew up o a farm and my dad put old motor oil on the chickens nestling boxes and beams they sleep on. This help for the bugs

If you Lime wash the inside of your chicken coup, it helps with the bugs and scrape the floor out weekly and disinfect the floor. Just saying but you most probably do that anyway. :)

Saw that you have yellow beans, not sure if you can get them in Portugal but if you like yellow and green beans....you will love these. They are called "royal burgundy" over here they are a dark purple in color and turn bright dark green when cooked. They are absolutely delicious.

Why not sashico stitch over the inside out patch a double reinforcement on the corner looks as though that will be easy & you have the excess fabric to fold in to attach to add some tacking type stitches in a grid quilting fashion hey ho style icon 👍
Patching is one of my fav things to do and it does help recycle and reduce waste. Like clothes, I can’t remember the one I wear until it gets too old. We consume too much and discard way more. Thanks for your videos.
Chickens, the mites breed in any wood around, jet wash and sanitise their coop and replace their perches.

I laugh out loud everytime I see Deogo bounding over the propertyand Frankie's ears flapping as she runs😂 Just an idea for the arm of your sofa. What about a sofa arm table? Just three pieces of wood that sits ontop of the sofa arm and drapes down each side. I thought of it as I watched you eating your dinner. Love to all from Nova Scotia, Canada.
I wonder if you could roll up the excess fabric around that patch and sew it down using a red or other colored thread, creating a nice ridge like a piecrust. It would make a feature out of a bug.

When it gets too hot for the chickens, put a sprinkler on over their pen! They love it and they will be more comfortable! I live on a farm in South Africa and it can go up to 50 degrees Celsius in summer! Love your videos and what a joy the animals are for one! ❤

If you don't mind the visible mending on the couch, why don't you sashiko old denim (pants) pieces onto the couch. It's very sturdy and looks beautiful if you repeat the pieces on places that normally wear and tear first.

Good to leave things to go to seed. The seed from these plants will be better suited to your specific climate. And the bees will benefit from the flowering.

hello there , I enjoy your video . Maybe I have some advice to kill the acacia on a friendly way , anyway thats what we do in holland with weed and all not wanted plants. We do a view table spoons of salt near the roots . Most of the time it is gone for a while. The salt kill the leafs and then the roots. And do that a a view times in the year .In the end it will be gone. All the luck and succes with your beautiful life in Portugal. Greetings from Anjo
