  • The route follows Fishergate, Corporation Street, Ringway, Adelphi Street, Plungington Road, Black Bull Lane, Garstang Road, St Thomas’ Road, St Paul’s Road, Meadow Street, Deepdale Road, Church Street, Pole Street, Lords Walk, Church Row, Church Street, Glover’s Court and Avenham Lane. Separate sections follow routes along Ringway, North Road and St George’s Road, then Lovat Road.
It includes a diversion around the Harris Park on Garstang Road, Fulwood, owned and used in the mid 1980’s and 1990’s by Preston Polytechnic / Lancashire Polytechnic / the University of Central Lancashire as student accommodation. The complex was originally built as an orphanage, opening in 1888, following a bequest by Edmund Robert Harris, a wealthy lawyer who acquired a fortune through investment in the railways. The university later developed it as a conference venue and later sold the site.
The names of some of the pubs we passed are also noted. These include the now closed Mitre Tavern, the Unicorn and the Real Ale beer shop on Lovat Road.
Filmed on a camcorder from the passenger seat of a car in around 1994, touring some of the streets of Preston and Fulwood in Lancashire.
The weather was bad, more use could have been made of the windscreen wipers at the start and the camera was a bit wobbly, but I hope it brings back memories for some.
