A majority of what companies are trying to pass off as AI right now is something other than AI. It's algorithms. Reading a sensor and making a decision is primarily done in code, and AI is not involved. That's what is confusing people about AI right now. Also, a majority of what is done in AI requires large sets of data, which isn't going to be able to fit into small storage spaces locally. Fixing grammar mistakes, spelling, and the way things are worded (something like Grammarly) is the type of thing that will be able to be run locally, but how is something made this year going to take a picture of something that is created 5 years down the road and know what it is? It will require a connection to the internet.

LLM's can not run on the average modern PC. You should try it. The only way they run well locally is if you have a massive amount of vram to run it directly from. As for OS's with built in localized AI, it's doubtful any time soon since Microsoft is more and more cloud based and making people jump through more and more hoops to be fully local running. Unless the trend to put everything on the cloud and subscription based, reverses, it's unlikely your dream will happen for a long long time. I mean they're even trying to stop AI being run by anyone but the main corporations and trying to somehow block off open source models.

I've said countless number of times, if I could just connect my watch to my car and play my music through it, there would be weeks where I would just leave my phone at home and just have my watch and airpods. I think that right now, a smart watch 4G/5G is and always will be a better option compared to a smart pin.

If you watch Lucid Pixel, Brad Colbow or any other TH-camr that draws and animates, you’ll see plenty of pro ways to use an iPad, that the regular reviewers miss, and instead of engaging with them they complain Final Cut Pro is crap on it. 🤷♂️
