Nice video. Rainier was not a favorite until I started drinking other macros and deciding what I liked. Kudos to you ! for calling out Manny's Pale Ale on your visit ! one of the best, freshest tasting, NW Pales I've tasted, and unfiltered.
Stopped at the brewery in Seattle back in the early 80s and the executives were trashed as double doors flew upen and they staggered out dragging us in to eat. It was a massive feast with so much food going to waste it wasn't funny. Guessing mismanagement & corruption was why it went under.
@@jsenigaglia Lived all over since 78. Years ago I saw film on the met of a ctain removing the big "R" they stood stop the brewery and that it was out of business, I actually frinnon had years on my face, it was a landmark. They put it back up but it's just for looks. Seattle has gone to hell, extreme liberalism is killing it and it was bad back in the 70's but way worse today.
Would love to see a battle between it and PBR. Living in Bremerton I run Rainier as my 'daily driver' beer. Would love to see it made locally again given most of the US hops comes from Washington anyway.
I totally meant to do this, but drank all the Rainier cans I had before I realized I didn’t do it 🤣. Maybe in the future if I can get my hands on some more 🍻
We're on the same beer adventure. My buddy just brought me back some Spotted Cow and Leinenkugels Original. If you get a chance to try Spotted Cow it's delicious
@@jsenigaglia You can only buy New Glarus beers in Wisconsin. So it's hard to get outside of there (I got a sixer of Spotted Cow while driving through a couple months ago)
I had Rainier for the first time in over a decade this summer in Idaho when I was visiting family. And now a month later 12 packs randomly showed up in the local Safeway for $11.99. I couldn't resist. Colorado has mountains too so "Mountain fresh" still works. 😄
I'd tried Rainier years ago, when it was available in ontario, Can (not sure if imported or brewed under license by sleeman or other at that time) Totally off topic, but I was listening to an old AO episode regarding the logistics for a, "Brofest" I believe Phet (or John) gave the limo driver a pair of one dollar bills for the tip. The trick was to roll the bills together very tightly. Result : The boys were long gone by the time the driver figured out he only received a two dollar grat for a drive from the airport!
Finally got a hold of this at a Safeway in the Bay Area. I would put this on the same level as Schlitz. Not as sweet as the other adjuncts and great price. I genuinely think the majority of people would prefer the lesser known adjuncts over the big three when given the chance
@@jsenigaglia On Untapd Oly seems to be, but relegated to just the Seattle market. It was sold in the SF Bay Area for a few months I'd say 5 years ago, hopefully it comes back.
Years ago you would pass by the Rainer Brewery and brightly lit Rainer sign approaching Seattle from the south on Highway 5. Now so many of these regional beers got bought up. I thought most Pabst beers were brewed by Miller and not Coors (Colorado).
Glad it arrived safely. I drank and replaced the 6 pack I bought for you 2 or 3 times before I finally sent them down. Vitamin R is my cheap beer of choice. (For ridiculous value, the 24 pack of 12 oz cans will occasionally go on sale for $17, and that's when I stock up. Under 75 cents a can? Yes please!)
That's the local Hamm's price. A Hamm's v. R blind beer battle would be legit. We now have R down here but only 12 packs as far as I have seen for $11.99. Still a great value.
Old Style and Rainier were both brewed in LaCrosse, WI in the late 80s and 90s until whenever Heileman's was sold. Heileman's was the company that moved Rainier out of Seattle.
Pabst actually doesn’t brew beer anymore. They are based in Los Angeles and contract brew their beers. Pabst bought a lot of the old regional brews like Rainer, Old Style, Lone Star and former National brands like Schlitz and Strohs.
I've always wanted to try Rainier ever since I watched Longmire.
I’m a fan 😎

Mannys is so great! I heard I can find Rainier out here now at some places but I’ve still not seen it.
Awesome Review! I've always wanted to try that one and Olympia. Cheers 🍻
I’ve always wanted to try Oly, too. So bummed it’s gone now 😩
definitely new sub here. 👍 Vitamin R for sure but surprised on what the company became. Funny on the PBR comparison. Good channel and video. 🤠 Cheers

Have you ever reviewed anything from belching beaver. I’m sure you have had some before. Loving the deftones beers they put out
It crazy, I work right down the street from Belching Beaver yet never drink their beer. The tavern is cool AF to hang out at though!

I tried this, once, and thought it was marginally good. I wish I could have tried their old, discontinued Ranier Ale (7.5%). Never seen in Louisiana.
I only ever saw the Rainier Ale in a 40oz bottle at the stores by me. It wasn't good. I think I only ever had it once or twice.
That was my dad's beer. "Green Death"
Rainier is great
I wish it was readily available!
Have you tried voodoo ranger juice force? One of my favorites at a higher alcohol percentage at 9.5% as an ipa
There is a review of that beer on my channel. I wasn’t a fan 😜😬🍻
Rainier always tasted like apple cider to me very sweet tasting beer.
I really wish Rainier was available here!

Maybe just some random one off. Time will tell.
The brewed in golden is new . Coors is brewed in golden wonder if pbr sold them

The R was replaced by a T, when Tully's took over the building. A few years ago they put the R (or a replacement R) back up though.
@@osver36 Haha. I have been back in Seattle more recently but have been flying into SeaTac so I do not see the sign.
I don't know why some breweries don't put the abv on the can or bottle. The same with two Texas beers, Shiner Bock and Lone Star. no abv.
Totally agree, and with alcohol, you really need to know what you’re putting in your body.
It should be illegal. Real talk.
