- This is my new prototype, just arrived from the factory. Inbuilt choke and a 2kW matching section. Will also do 10m too. Branded the DX Commander "DX Master" (probably!). This 10m event will be Saturday 20th April at 12:00 UTC.

The 10m event will be Saturday 20th April at 12:00 UTC.
Hopefully we'll be able to hear each other this time 😊🤘
Those are the "am frequencies" on the band plan, but I assume this is USB?
@@K5JHP-John No, should be FM
@@stevecownley747 Well, their frequencies cover 29.0 to 29.3... AM is 29.0 to 29.2. Then to 29.3 it's designated Satellite Uplinks or Downlinks. So... the latter might be FM, but not the first part.
@@K5JHP-John FM
On Saturday at 12.00 UTC I shall be in a bar in Blackpool.
At 14.00 UTC I shall probably be on the floor of said bar.
Good luck to all taking part and 10FM is my favourite part of 10m
De MI5JYK
built gainmasters for 10, 15/17 and 20. Great antennas. good dx, 73
Hi Cal,
Good luck. If you can the antenna up above the building using the generator, it might be worth the effort. Hoping the propagation gods will be king tomorrow for some contacts across the pond. You and the family stay safe. 73 WJ3U
I might do this in the next couple hours.. I don't think there's much in it.. 7m is almost above the roof anyway - and modelling suggests only another 2dB.. But in real-life, for "VHF" style line of sight, every little bit probably helps Don - you are right.
Nice to see my local club G3SKY taking part too. I shall have a listen around.
Great so you can get on 11 meters. Next you'll be on the Bowl.
You can build a 5/8 vertical from e piece of ladder line and wire. I have one strung up in a tree in my yard, I worked NZ with 100w SSB from Ohio. 5/8 waves are great, no need for a ground plane, you just have to get them high enough.
You can indeed..
Very nice Callum.
I'm just starting to get into 10m FM here in Australia.
I've been doing SSB for years and now wanting to explore some different areas.
Go for it!
Hi Callum I have a 5/8 Antenna that covers 27 to 29 MHZ called a Maco V5000 21ft long. Works well. They recon it can do 5KW but has a price tag to match Around £325.00
Good fun Callum. Though I’m in the states, I’ll try to see if I can hear you guys. I cut my 10m element too short to transmit there. I’m interested to see what I can hear with the solar cycle being what it is for 10m. Good luck!
Will try and pick you up on the SDR :-)
1 S-point =6dB
I would like to see an actual 12 meter fiberglass “base” antenna released onto the market. I see an untapped potential market here that no one has addressed. It’s yours for the taking with minimal retooling.
Good luck with the event on Saturday - hope 10m performs for you. Cheers Ed DD5LP
Thanks!
I will keep a listen out here in south Wales and monitor the Weston sdr.
6dB is one S unit. S-9 is -73dBm on frequencies 30MHz and below (HF). S-9 is -93dBm on frequencies above 30MHz (VHF/UHF).
Will be interesting to see if I can get any of you here in the USA on the east coast. When conditions are good I can get Texas and California 10 Meter FM repeaters like they are just down the street.
Should be good fun hopefully Cal.
I will try listen from Kalgoorlie Western Australia.
Ya never know with 10m lately.
10m has been going right off here
Woo-Hoo!
sounds like fun. I have either the end fed half wave as veritable on ground with radiales . The T2LT made out of RG 8X or a 3/4 wave element on DX commander 10 meter pole with fold back. all 3 tune 29 MHz below 1.4 SWR. I got 400-500 watts I can throw from NY . duty cycle on tubes ?? the time is the issue for me. but will try. Cheers from NY !
I have an a clue as to what this really is, but it looks very neat
We should call the antenna the "DCX" .... lords callum x (as in 10 ) meter......Domini Callum X 😁 (Latin)
Nice!
good luck. my candidate number still hasn't arrived but i'll be listening in
Woo-Hoo!
I've found a ground mounted vertical gives me the best SN ratio. If I elevate the vertical, it does worse on RX. I cannot audibly differentiate 1/4, 1/2 or 5/8 wave from each other. O course, location might have something to do with it. I love experimenting and seeing what works (which is often not the same as others would lead me to believe).
Frank.. I'm with you on this.. The only change MIGHT be is it's NOT skip bit line of sight.
Take the jump up to 27.555 USB and enter the twilight zone 😂
One S unit is indeed supposed to be 6dB.
Looking foward to seeing the specs on your 10m aerial. I'm guessing that your using a matching coil at the base? For fun, I'd love to see someone build a 27ft copper J-Pole for 10 meters. That would be insane. Bet it would work well though!
It's all still in the air right now.. Still poking at it with the factory. Right now, we're WAY off..
@@DXCommanderHQ Be good to get something out for Cycle 25's peak 👍
Looks good old mate. Hope ya do really well. Enjoy . Now……. For a 5/8 over 5/8. Lol. Cheers 👍🥃🇦🇺
Gulp!
@@DXCommanderHQ lmfao. 😆🤣😜
I like the look of that antenna a lot Callum, looks a familiar design but that shine off the sun is maybe telling me it is alloy? 🤓
Marine wovern fiberglass..
@@DXCommanderHQ Very nice, i wouldn’t mind giving one of them a go when you’re somewhere near with them.
Chris Hansen has U on His List, bring Pizza He said...
Awesome 10m setup Now I want one of those stands… when will they be available if ever?? 🤣🤣🤣
The Yellow thing? Oh heck, see Clake Masts!
@@DXCommanderHQ Clarke......silly boy, will keep an ear out for you all from down here in the south west of France, all i need to do is go down into the garage and find my antron 99 cheers and good luck to you all Callum.
@@DXCommanderHQ yes, that said… I thought you were prototyping a new antenna kit🤣
I'm planning to take Tim's frequency on 29.150
OK James!
one S unit is 6db
How does this new one compare to the "Thingy" with the guydials atop the Neboola?
Modelling suggests that with a little bit of height (not much more) this should be on par with the "thingy".. LOL
could you mount the antenna on the roof for more hight ?
Er.. Today? I had about 1-hour to do this job.
So this is a 5/8 wave Gainmaster- Type, right? How do you like it?
Well, so far it's tuned incorrectly. Talking to factory. Yes, similar to what you suggest..
France here F4guc I will be upper hill and trying to get to you
yes, one S point is 6db gain theorectically. The band police will probably have a different opinion😂
Oh yes.. Band police are a different breed!
It's a little weird that you didn't know 6 banannas was 1 S unit Considering your obsession with DB gain at 5 degrees.
Because they are never calibrated that way - which is why I specifically said TS990.
Who made the antenna ?
My "factory". It's confidential to my spec.
@@DXCommanderHQ cool
I’m in Thanet and will try 🫣
