I have fond memories of the old school Blackpool as a resident in the 1970s. A usual Saturday for me was swimming in the Derby baths in the morning before a tram ride to the Pleasure Beach to enjoy the Fun House in my stockingfeet.

I wish Blackpool was still like this today, I remember going there in the '70s & 80's before the rot really began to set in, Blackpool today is an empty shell of its former self, old buildings that should have been preserved have been left to rot or pulled down altogether due to a lack of investment by the council only to be replaced with building's (or car parks!) that can only be described as monstrosity's along with some questionable pieces of so-called modern art they look completely out of place in a working-class seaside resort.

Hear hear. I had the misfortune to have to live there from 1988 to 1994 and it wasn't like how I remembered it from our holidays there in the late 70s/early 80s.

Blackpool, our favourite family holiday destination in 60's and 70's. Great memories!

I remember going in either 73 or 74 via British Rail's "Golden Rail" holidays, I would've been 7 or 8 respectively, we got to the boarding house we were meant to be staying at, only for the shifty landlord to claim there'd been a mistake, and the room we were meant to have stayed in was being transformed into a bathroom! A nice landlady next door heard what was going on and took us into her boarding house for cup of tea and something to eat, she left us for a while, then when she came back, she'd spoken to a lovely elderly couple who ran another boarding house along the road who took us in for the fortnight.

Miss that log flume. Blackpool looked nice in the 70's with the bigger beaches.

This is fabulous! I loved going to Blackpool as a child, riding in a landau or on the trams, and dipping in and out of the many arcades along the Golden Mile. My favourite memory is of being in the Tower Ballroom, watching my parents and grandparents dancing. There was a little café there, and the sugar lumps had wrappers with, “Untouched By Human Hand”, on them which was a source of great fascination for me. Happy days indeed!!

Loved Blackpool as a child mainly in the 70's, haven't been for about 25 years now as last visit was so disappointing, changed so much and not for the better sadly, great to see little snippets like this.

I worked on that stupid log flume for several years, never realised it was as old as me. Don't do what My family did, they moved to Blackpool when I was a teen, great place to visit, horrid place to live. Massive renovations going on here ATM all over, give or take ten years and you won't recognise the place. They still parade those heritage trams you know, you still see the HMS Blackpool every illumination, it looks better cared for now and is all illuminated.

That was brilliant to see...the view looking over the coast line and buildings.... the log flume...all of it...i wonder if the trams still get done up to look like boats...Ive been a few times since the 70s but can't recall any ship looking trams ha ha Think its a brilliant idea them just gliding up the road ha ha , thanks for this superb 70s footage 👌😍🤗
