"If I could just have that one thing..." Oh, how well I remember begging God for that 'one thing' for years, in tears and prayer. Until, I looked around and saw all the many blessings I already had and suddenly it occurred to me that I was like a child crying for the moon. And in that moment, I surrendered my will to God's will and truly, for that one time in my life, I experienced the peace that passes all understanding. And as I look back across the years, I see so clearly that God's ways truly were far greater than the ways I desired.
There was no joy before Jesus…..so true. I am a Catholic convert. I never knew I could feel so joyful. I didn’t even know joy like this existed. Receiving Jesus in the Eucharist almost daily has me basking in the joy of His love! I never knew this as a Protestant
I am so very thankful for Father Mike and the possibility to hear his sermons. He speaks to my heart and soul. Thank God; May you be blessed for all the Good you do in this world.
Living life with the Lord is a fun adventure, and it takes lots of imagination, communication, praying, sharing, and giving thanks each day. The Lord knows exactly how many hairs that we have on our heads. That thought alone made me feel so special and so loved by the Lord. "Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows." -- Luke 12:7
Holding you and your family in my heart as you celebrate Christmas. I know what it’s like to miss your mother. Hang on to all the love… it’s all around. My mom’s deathbed words… “this life is about love “. She is right , hold onto it … God bless you always. I hope your dad is as well as he can be , my amazing husband died five years ago … excruciating pain .
Pray without ceasing… the words were just brought into focus. Pray, to ask, to trust, to depend on God constantly on every thing. Come to Him without losing heart over our Heavenly King being invested in us incessantly.
OF COURSE YOU, AND ME HERE, THIS IS THE WORLD, THIS IS THE PLACE WHERE I GIVE IN TO YOUR IDEAS, BOTH YOU AND ME CAN'T SWAP OUR WORLDS FOR SOMETHING ELSE,
I know many happy and very ethical/more caring persons who are atheist vs religious. They are very joyful. They care about what happens to their fellow humans and the earth a heck of a lot more than any Christians I've come across.
Thank you Father Mike. You always give us great gems of great theologians, saints and holy people to help and enrich our spiritual journey. God bless you 🙏
This 3rd Sunday of Advent this speaks to me in my household and my friends around who's under the weather. ( missed Sunday service). It is indeed, we have no hold to certain circumstances- but of our response to such. Missed last Sunday due to under the weather.. but still Give thanks in such circumstances and still prayed to get better. Am still find joy because God is with me and able to watch this homily, and giving strength to take care my love ones in spite, and will go through this variants that's going on- a choice to stay home and get some rest- abiding the sense of well being. Amen to that.🙏🙏🙏. Thank You Fr. Mike.
Job 1:20-22 Then Job arose and tore his cloak and cut off his hair. He fell to the ground and worshiped. He said, “Naked I came forth from my mother’s womb, and naked shall I go back there. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD!” In all this Job did not sin, nor did he charge God with wrong.
Excellent homily, very meaty, lots of good teachings here. One aspect of the faith I would like to add is that in giving thanks, practicing the presence, and rejoicing always, we do so with confidence that God is GOING TO ACT in our troubling circumstances. No, he's not going to give us the perfect husband, the perfect job etc but he is going to do something good to help us. He is not going to leave us orphaned. Knowing this and experiencing it brings the faith alive. The all-powerful God loves me and is going to help me. This is joy.
Blessings to everybody on this Gaudate Sunday! Memorare prayed! Joy means the abiding sense of well-being! Thank God in circumstances not for the circumstances, correct? Sunday, December 17, 2023 Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us especially to give thanks God in the presence of Him-don't wait-ok to be impatient?
Not being in control of my life has brought me so much depression and anxiety. I can’t figure out how to make enough money to survive on my own even though I work full time. As a mom, this is so hard. Please pray for me! I can’t stand the circumstances I am in. I pray to God to help me, but I’m convinced I asked for these exact circumstances before I was born, and this is a test of faith. Please help me not lose hope.
@Joseph Weeeell, Joseph, you could attend the actual... Mass? And get both readings in as well as the Gospel? And experience the Mass said with true reverence?
I agree with you Joseph. I like to share Fr. Mike’s homily with my relatives, and it would be nice for them to hear the Gospel reading as well as the homily.

Why not promote conversion of homosexuality through the intercession of Mary (purity) and Archangel Raphael (healing)? Homosexuality is a spiritual sickness. Confession and prayer can convert these people, but we decide to bless them? If I commit sin then I would be advised to go to Confession and pray to turn that vice into a virtue. Please answer that Father Mike? Thank you 🙏
Can you explain celibacy when 1 Timothy says this: ??? 1 Timothy 3:2-5 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior, given to hospitality, apt to teach; (1Tim 3:2, KJV) One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (1Tim 3:4, KJV) (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) (1Tim 3:5, KJV)
I walked out, I show you pictures of these people, that don't work they don't pay for anything, they don't do service they're not part of this place, I have the rights, I give up, and replace the things I have to offer, with here have your rubbish, I deserved better.
Nice dress dude, but here on Earth you might need something more appropriate for the streets - to cater and tend for all those that fell through the cracks of our education systems and all our other institutions, that are crumbling in megabytes and gigabytes... including your precious church. There's a new Sun rising and the antiquated doctrine and dogma of the priesthood is nothing but kindling for the fire that's to come
What did Fr. Mike just remind us to do? In ALL things, give thanks. Maybe just don't WATCH, only LISTEN. Would that help? Ask God to take these distractions and make them good. See Fr. Mike's podcast on distractions as it is very good. I've watched it several times. The devil is trying to take your attention away from Fr. Mike and his message. Don't allow it.
Phony tatooed Catholic priest, child actor, turned priest, he knew better about the tatoo and did it anyway to please the kids he deals with, insted of teaching them to abide by Gods command to not mark your body!
At this point in time, the Catholic Church does not identify tatoo'ing as a sin. So he is not out of step with his Faith. You may have a biblical argument or a cultural disposition against tattoo'ing but we as Catholics following the Catholic theological frame can't accuse him of sin. To make assumptions about his motive may fall under the grave sin of calumny, a lack of grace and a lack of justice.
"If I could just have that one thing..." Oh, how well I remember begging God for that 'one thing' for years, in tears and prayer. So, judgement seat drops quite a few levels,
You should keep the gospel reading before the homily in my opinion. Thank you for your work. God bless

The saddest thing to the world to me is when people are indoctrinated into a religion at a young age and never make their way out. So sad.
To me the saddest thing is to be indoctrinated to the secular, pagan gods, and never realize it until it's too late.
Of course they're looking to enjoy life, have you seen them attack,
If not now, WHEN?
Why not promote conversion of homosexuality through the intercession of Mary (purity) and Archangel Raphael (healing)? Homosexuality is a spiritual sickness. You seem to think, that everything is what you see it is,
Meaning, if certain people aren't there, none of this looks like this.
Dreary
Can you explain celibacy when
1 Timothy says this: ???
1 Timothy 3:2-5
A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behavior, given to hospitality, apt to teach; (1Tim 3:2, KJV)
One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (1Tim 3:4, KJV)
(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) (1Tim 3:5, KJV)
And you think, it's a great idea people leave for you.
So why turn up to the judgement seat when you've got the wrong motives,
No, I'm just being who I am when they weren't like this before.
Sorry.
Wrong person.
I'm not waiting for any of you I don't do any contacting anyone,
Figure it out for yourself.
I CAN'T SWAP THEIR THREATS, FOR SOMETHING ELSE,
I walked out, I show you pictures of these people, that don't work they don't pay for anything, they don't do service they're not part of this place,
I have the rights,
I give up, and replace the things I have to offer, with here have your rubbish, I deserved better.
