The best part about this music video is that the band got word out that they were doing a music video, and any fans of the band that could get to that area should head over there and they could be part of it. Those people are all fans of the band that all got to go to what was probably the most intense live show ever. It's the most expensive video that record label has ever made too. Wish I was there.

Alex Hefner they rap in quite a few songs to be honest. The lead vocalist, Corey Taylor, is VERY versatile like that
Corey Taylor is super versatile man. He freaking writes poetry. Dude is super smart and talented and probably likes hip-hop. Heavy metal is my favorite genre, but hip-hop is probably my second favorite. Great video dude.
His best rapping imo is on the track Only One. Amazing, albeit short lived in the track itself.

I think you might like the songs "Wait and bleed" and "Spit it out" from their first album. They both incorporate hip hop and those are the songs that got me in to slipknot in the first place
Alex Hefner dude if you wamt to hear some REALLY CRAZY shit, listen to Infant Annihilator "Unholy gravebirth" they are a deathcore band and they are purposefully "over the top" and "extreme". Their music isn't really meant to be taken seriously, but it is absolutely insanely heavy.

Best Lyrics, best video, one of the best multi-talented bands of all time. Very underrated band. Anger is one of the most natural emotions we experience as humans, though we are told time after time to never ever express it, keep it locked away, hold it in. Through music like this, I get so much anger out of my system just by listening to people who are screaming out their feelings at the top of their lungs. It's very emotional, symbolic and therapeutic.
This is litterally how it got me into metal back when I was 12. It was this that hooked me and then the steady evolution to the most obscene hardcore music I can find 😂

In the event that you didn't know, the lead singer of Slipknot is Corey Taylor, who also sings in the band Stone Sour, which is much more laid back rock oriented than the metal brutality of Slipknot. Its pretty cool that he does enough different stylistic things that he saves the heavier stuff for slipknot.

Funny enough, the whole album is clean. No expletives at all, and I think they did it to prove a point. If I recall correctly, someone basically said they were awful, and one-trick-ponies who couldn't make a song without cursing, so they made a whole album.
This was also the first slipnot song I ever heard. Bought one of the old ATV off-road fury games for ps2 and this song was in it and I freaking LOVED it. I’m not SUPER into them, but I do really like quite a few of their songs

The reason why it's so popular is that it is more palatable for mainstream listeners. The song has more of a melody and the screaming is spaced out enough to not alienate people that aren't into the heavier sides of metal. While I do agree with you that there are many other songs by Slipknot that deserve more attention, it's pretty easy to see why Duality would appeal to the average listener more than something like Eyeless or Sic.

I decided to revist this video just because I wanted to see how far you've come since you really started getting into metal. Now a days you're a regular metalhead.
Coming back so many years later, seeing Slipknot-Virgin-Alex react for the first time, it's fun seeing the Slipknot fan he's become.

Metal is actually verry deep. Most of these songs have deeper meanings. Like you said, Duality is about ther... Well... Dualities in life that we all face. Its a genre that makes you think about the deeper meanings...
Alex hefner you also have to understand what made this shoot incredible was the fans. It was in Iowa (slipknot's home state) in winter. It was like 40 or below that day. They planned on just having fans show up and headbang for a video. The maggots (slipknot fans) showed up with their love of this band and instantly made this video one of the best moments showing a band and the fans and the mutual respect between them.
