A fantastic video with the very best of information, as a long time tech & teacher myself, I still have times where I struggle, but as Karen, well as all three of you said, keep taking classes, even if you're a tutor we, in my opinion need the training even more, so that we can pass new information & techniques onto, not just our students & as important as they are, us as teachers need to keep up with all the new trends much more so or we'd soon be unemployed. So thank you for reminding us all the importance of '' keep learning '' & anyway its such fun to learn, yes it really s the best & its most rewarding to be able to pass on that knowledge, not just to struggling students but sometimes to struggling techs & of course us teachers & that leads to very happy clients. Karen thinks just like me, I've always said that when I start building my clientele, I would offer 1st time service free, and will try my best to meet or exceed their expectations, so they can book again. I have a question. I work a very full time job and have been taking my nail tech course on my days off ( i live in canada and I was able to do this). I practice nails every day on my days off because I love doing nails. Do you think a nail tech is able to do nails as a part time business?
I love hearing from other nail techs who have " started over" again, how do you find mentors who are willing to share info,? I closed up my salon 8 yrs ago, building had to be closed due to building had safety issues, ect, I also had 9 surgeries since then ,my hubby has recently built a home studio room off our house, for some strange reason, I am petrified to start over, I lost all my confidence,!Each time I sit at my table ,I literally freeze up! Hard to do my own nails!
All of our mentors love to share their stories and knowledge. It is terrifying to start over again, you just have to take that leap of faith and know that you can do this!!! Start by just working on a couple of your friends to find your groove again, it will take off from there!! 💖💖💖
I definitely relate to you Teresa!! I went to school years ago but was unable to finish. I recently went back & completed for nail tech. I am gripped with fear!! I do my nails as well as my kids. I did so little in school!! Maybe it’s age lol 😂 I hope the best for you!!
I have done nails for 15 years and we now have to pay 58 commission to our owner after 15 year I’m thinking I will never get more so do you think I should move to booth rent
