Everyone wants Nancy to ditch Steve and be with Jonathon, but I actually like Steve's character. As discussed in this video, he realized his mistake and turned into a pretty cool character. Not to mention, he bought Steve a new camera BUT he let Nancy take the credit for it. That, to me, is a character arc, and it was a damn fine one at that. Nancy and Steve
Damn yes! Exactly CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE!! Seen that Stephen King crap all over the web... But NO, knew I had seen that exact benguiat composition somewhere else! Great find!
I feel like everyone missed something key about Chief Hopper. There are a couple throwaway lines that suggest that before his daughter died, he was a city cop, possibly even a detective. When his daughter died, his life fell apart, he went back to his hometown and became the "small town cop"...and completely lost all interest in real law enforcement. His story is one of rebirth and redemption. Bringing his skills out of hibernation and investigating gives him purpose in live again.
I WAS WONDERING EXACTLY THE SAME THING. That monster was not the only one, probably. Surely it won't be the only one. It was never clear if it died (cause I think it didn't), and now that Will is coughing up those tentacles, I'm afraid I'LL HAVE TO WATCH THE NEXT SEASON ALL AT ONCE.
I'm not good with thriller shows. but this one, this show was scary but it was so captivating. I just couldn't take my eyes away. they honestly did a great job with this show.
I'll admit that it was a thematic high note for the season. And I'm a HUGE fan of John Carroll Lynch, who lifts everything he touches. But man, it's hard to pull away from the action and spend an hour with a character with zero subtext. I just don't think TWD has ever totally figured out what to do with Morgan.
These guys really are incredibly brilliant. Honestly I'm so excited to be living in this time. I hope more directors and producers of films move this way.
TV Networks should learn from Netflix they're doing very good shows lately, Orange is the new black, House of cards, Strange things, etc.. a hit after hit...
This is a great decoding, in my opinion. I just finished the first season this past Saturday (three days ago)... and WOW, it is probably my favorite show. I thought LOST had a lot of detail... but this show... it was taken to a whole new level. The acting is incredible and the overall plot is captivating. The 1980s retro-feel is really appreciable and clever. We need more shows of this quality.
+Lord of Lasagne with them showing us the exact stuffed animal she had and the constant flashbacks of his daughter, i believe theres a likelihood she could reappear in the show or be alive. if you go back to eleven's mom's case: the government claimed that her daughter had died while carrying her, but she actually was indeed alive and they lied to her....maybe the directors chose to tell this story to foreshadow that this may have happened to Hopper's daughter and they're doing the same to her
As someone that spent 80-89 in high school and college.... and worked as a video store clerk in the mid 80s... this series really resonated. Any continuity errors or references out of time were minir distractions in an otherwise fun experience: 1) in the first episode Will tries to dial 911 for help. Rural areas at least did not have this service yet. stickers for the separate numbers for police, fire and medical (7 digit numbers using your local exchange) were commonplace. 2) the music distinctions between the popular vs outsider kids was a nice touch, but using a Modern English song from 85 was distracting. The music used when Nancy hooks up with Steve was spot on though. 3) Eric addresses the fashion choices which were also dead-on for 83 in a rural area. we didn't get into the silly dayglo stuff for another year or so. Cord EVERYTHING was all the rage and earth tones. To my dismay, Barb's ruffled blouse was in my closet in 83, as well as her haircut.
Excellent review. I saw the deprivation tank as an homage to Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv) who used them to travel between parallel universes in the great series, "Fringe". Some of the shots were nearly identical. Millie B Brown (011) was also outstanding in the short-lived TV science fiction show "Intruders".
AWESOME!!!! I didn't know the upside down was inspired by my favorite video game 'The Last Of Us'. I love both of these beautifully written masterpieces.
A nice realistic and 'non-cliché' thing to point out, is that Nancy doesn't end up with Jonathan and Joyce doesn't end up with Hopper. This is what would have happened in any big american production.
+Madden Thompson I do love his idea that it would be a stronger, more out of control subject. Like a failed experiment that they may have tried to destroy but were unable and they are running around the upside down.
This video was awesome! I love delving into the nitty gritty after a series to kindve see what I missed or understand why I liked it. Keep up the great work!
Pollywog is definitely a reference to The Secret World of Og (a book published in 1961 with a cartoon TV movie which followed in April 1983). Pollywog was the toddler (maybe Holly?) who disappears down to the underground world of Og (the upside down), causing her brother and sisters to follow suit.
Will also has a slight story line at the end of the series that could be extremely relevant to season two. Him vomiting the slug which could flip the right side up to the upside down.
I think with your theory about the palace episode when they referenced the "proud princess" at the end of season 1 it has to do with Eleven. Since other theories talk about the Demigorgan being somehow related to her it would make sense she ended up in the upside down at the end of the first season. So this episode would be a focal or turning point for her character with the rest of the group in relation in relation to the new plot. This would also make sense if Hopper is the "lost knight" since he is involved with the Lab and we saw him leaving food for (possibly) Eleven. The knight is protecting the princess as she is struggling with an issue (or trying to escape) the palace. Then again it's just a theory
I think Season Two will have to do with The Great Pumpkin. The lost brother is Linus. The Pumpkin Patch is where the Great Pumpkin shows up to take Linus to the Upside Down. Note how the Upside Down is filled with overgrown vegetation. Exactly like a mutated pumpkin patch.
I actually liked super 8, I thought that it was nice that they turned the monster( something that usually scary) into something that also has feelings.
Kudos to Netflix for recognizing a good thing when they see it and to the Duffer bros for sticking to their creative integrity, while telling all the other studios to go stick their lack of vision and originality where the sun don't shine. Great show!
I disagree with your statement that Nancy was helping Jonathon with his pictures - I think she just saw Barb and took them to see if she could work out what had happened to her.
There are so many reasons why this show is perfect that to accurately tell every reason why it's so perfect, the video would have to be 3-4 hours long. This is the most perfect TV show I've ever watched, bar none and hands down.
This 'bubble' sound reminds me of the one from 'It Follows'. Great analysis btw! Oh, and Zdzisław is pronauced something like that: 'z jee swahv' :) His work is the best. A movie about him and his family just came out ('Ostatnia Rodzina' = 'The Last Family). Greetings from Poland!
you guys deserve millions of subscribers you guys do such an amazing way of explaining everything. also when you cover stuff like the game of thrones you guys predicted like 80% of things that would happen. I hope you guys blow up soon.
I normally hate analysis videos, but it so happens I was discussing stranger things with a friend and WHY its so good. This analysis is really insightful and kind of makes me want to watch it all again.
I was thinking that in the second episode eleven didn't know what friends were, but there is a scene where here 'papa' says. Don't worry these are our friends. Does this mean she got brainwashed???
Dude...this is freaking brilliant! You just put all of my thoughts & feelings about this series into one, cohesive, digestible, & thoroughly entertaining video. Well played, sir. Well played. :)
I got to say I loved Winona Ryder as the scrawny struggling mother who would take on anything to save her kid. Nothing was going to stop her. Great job.
i think this show is the best netflix show
ikr
the second best nexfix is the get down
agreed
Ya
I think OITNB is the best but this would definitely be the next
Everyone wants Nancy to ditch Steve and be with Jonathon, but I actually like Steve's character. As discussed in this video, he realized his mistake and turned into a pretty cool character. Not to mention, he bought Steve a new camera BUT he let Nancy take the credit for it. That, to me, is a character arc, and it was a damn fine one at that. Nancy and Steve
But he just swooped in at the end to kill the Monster from the upside down
Steve did redeem himself, but I just can't bring myself to like him, even after what he did.
Steve redeemed himself, and I wish him good fortune, but that doesn't mean I support that relationship more.
Wow, I really liked to read everyone's thoughts on that :D And now we wait for season 2
I will acquiesce to his redemption after he gets a damn haircut.
This is worth half an hour of watching
Yup
yea, i'm glad I watched it :)
Half hour video!? I'll just watch 5 minutes.... 30 minutes later.
New Rockstars is the "bag of Cheddar Ruffles" equivalent of TH-cam videos.
that's me lol
ECA EDG I said the same after 15 mins it lagged for only a second, but he did the rest of the 15 really good.
Poor George , no one wants his green screens
lmao
he had his time
I'll take Hayden but not his green screens
But he was made with one!
“What have I done” (ani skywalker)
Ya I'm going to go re watch all of stranger things k bye
Bye
Bye
Bye
bye
Bye
So anyone else who binged watched this?
yeah, twice
In 2 nights, didn't finish homework...
lørd Vadrr I started watching it around 11pm I think or a bit sooner and I was up till about 5am watching it haha
lørd Vadrr yup
+Andrew N. Same
The next half an hour will be purely awesome. NEVER STOP DOING THESE.
After stumbling upon the star wars Easter eggs video, iv been binge watching videos for hours, this has got to be my fav new channel.
I agree, they are brilliant and funny.
can suggest other channels like this.
thanks!
This is one of the few shows I wish I could unsee and experience again. Have high expectations for season 2.
Hmmno... Hopper's story was the emotional one, for me.
Also, remember when they went to find Will, they saw some kind of egg opened…that could probably have something to do with the pumpkin episode
YES THE EGG! No one believed me about it T^T
it's amazing how even in the show they didn't talk about it or something, even after having defeated the creature
Ha, ha yes. I think they were just relieved to return to some normality which is pretty much how people do react.
Hakudan2 well ppl thinks it was the demo dogs but when eleven touched the domgorgon he was eating an egg a lot of pepole didn’t catch thata
I really really liked this show! It's a great binge watch! Dustin is my fave! And I love Winona Ryder in this!
hehe my name is dustin and I loved this show to
me too. took a bit to adjust to the idea that Winona can play someone's Mom now.
Wow Bimmerella you're really beautiful, can we chat?
ok lol
wasn't ignoring u TM....since my youtube app updated those geniuses left out the reply function....wtf??
I'm not good with thriller shows. but this one, this show was scary but it was so captivating. I just couldn't take my eyes away. they honestly did a great job with this show.
How dare he insult the amazing Morgan episode
Also it follows didn't do anything for me
I'll admit that it was a thematic high note for the season. And I'm a HUGE fan of John Carroll Lynch, who lifts everything he touches. But man, it's hard to pull away from the action and spend an hour with a character with zero subtext. I just don't think TWD has ever totally figured out what to do with Morgan.
BLASPHEMY
Somehow it managed to be boring than the rest of the show. TWD is easily the most overrated show on television.
Ikr😡😔
Im thinking the pumpkin patch is like a egg place and when he dropped the slug into the water it went into the sewer system
slug reminded me of star trek, wrath of kahn
Lol
that scene still freaks me out. also the Puppetmaster when the slug comes out of the female puppet chick. classic B movie.
Oh my gosh same I hate that scene
These guys really are incredibly brilliant. Honestly I'm so excited to be living in this time. I hope more directors and producers of films move this way.
Oh I cried alright.. I shed at least 2 or 3 tears when she flipped the van! Freaking genius!
Am I the only one who never liked Barb??
🙋🏽🙋🏽🙋🏽
no
i was way more upset about Benny.
No one likes barb
+devyn213
ikr same ♡
Nobody cries for benny.
I did! I friggin loved that guy. Big ol' good natured bear :'( ...I was totally pissed when he died
I do ♡
That was the only scene where I actually cried.
I do 😢
Who is Benny???
I cannot fully express how much I adore your breakdowns! Keep them coming! I have shared them with my people! You are awesome!
You have so much energy and passion, and it's obvious that THIS is exactly what you're meant to be doing in life. Good on you!
The storyline about 11 and the boys, is definitely the primary storyline, where the other 3 are supporting storylines.
TV Networks should learn from Netflix they're doing very good shows lately, Orange is the new black, House of cards, Strange things, etc.. a hit after hit...
Sponsors don't want to be associated with controversy so that is unlikely with that business model.
+LR Vogt oh rigth.. true. Like what is hapening lately in youtube.
Especially the walking dead producers, considering the writing has been awful in season 7.
Narcos too
Will might be half alien and person because of the bug that came from his mouth.
Mad max applies I think to the new character, max.
Because it does.
Via Del Nero I really hope he doesn't fall in love with max and stays loyal to Eleven
#teamjohnithan
nah dip sherlock
olivia player yup

Same here
Stranger Things is the most perfect show
WHAT IF HOPPER'S DAUGHTER NEVER DIED, HER DEATH WAS PROBABLY FAKED OR IT WAS HIS IMAGINATION AND SHE WAS ACTUALLY TAKEN?!?! #ThinkAboutIt
OMG KEKEKEKE TALKING IN ALL CAPS IS SO KOOL #ROFLCOPTER
Nope sorry
I keep thinking that she is .. or was.. in the Upside Down, and that's how she disappeared.
+Lord of Lasagne with them showing us the exact stuffed animal she had and the constant flashbacks of his daughter, i believe theres a likelihood she could reappear in the show or be alive. if you go back to eleven's mom's case: the government claimed that her daughter had died while carrying her, but she actually was indeed alive and they lied to her....maybe the directors chose to tell this story to foreshadow that this may have happened to Hopper's daughter and they're doing the same to her

not a single second i got bored with this video. Keep it up!
AWESOME!!!!
I didn't know the upside down was inspired by my favorite video game 'The Last Of Us'.
I love both of these beautifully written masterpieces.
same I love both
Never stop doing these! This channel is my new obsession.
I really like this show. The actors are amazing and they are really fun to watch on interviews and things.
I have already watched it twice, I hate rewatching anything, but Stranger Things makes me want more!! it is so good!
Dude, this was an AWESOME analysis!!!
I loved this show so much. MORE SEASONS!!!!!!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
i always feel emotional everytime eleven saves the party from danger
A nice realistic and 'non-cliché' thing to point out, is that Nancy doesn't end up with Jonathan and Joyce doesn't end up with Hopper. This is what would have happened in any big american production.
Emma Easton i have some bad news for you
How could Eleven have a brother? Joyce and Hopper went to Eleven's mother when they were investigating in season 1.
Maybe not a biological brother, but a brother in the sense one of the other 10 children that were used in those experiments.
+Noreen's Kitchen The producers said eleven was not the only kid experimented on
+Madden Thompson right!
10 Pre Eleven
+Madden Thompson I do love his idea that it would be a stronger, more out of control subject. Like a failed experiment that they may have tried to destroy but were unable and they are running around the upside down.
This video made me love Stanger Things even MORE! Good job guys!
I feel like Barb is a meme in our stranger things fanbase now and I love it
This video was awesome! I love delving into the nitty gritty after a series to kindve see what I missed or understand why I liked it. Keep up the great work!
The music reminds me of Tron
Completely agree. That's the first theme song that came to mind when I first heard the Stranger Things theme
I agree
Yeahp!
Wow yes I literally said that outloud when I first saw it
Reminds me of it follows and other 80s horror movies
Such a great video, thanks loads for taking the time to share your insights...made it interesting to think back on it!
anyone else here watch the season more then once already ?? CANT WAIT FOR S2
also this review is one of the best i've seen!! nice job!

Y'all seriously have the best videos on TH-cam. I get so excited every time I see a new one posted! Thank you for these!!!
Love this video. a lot of great points and a lot I missed
I think with your theory about the palace episode when they referenced the "proud princess" at the end of season 1 it has to do with Eleven. Unlike many series This one was so well made. It's a masterpiece, is not a commercial product, it's a work of art.
It's both. Not knocking it for that.
I always get chills whenever I hear the STRANGER THINGS intro.
Cliff Roth the lost brother was changed to the lost sister and also the pumpkin patch is not mutated lol but that’s a good theory
Unbelievable breakdown, really well done! Definitely earned my subscription, look forward to more!
I actually liked super 8, I thought that it was nice that they turned the monster( something that usually scary) into something that also has feelings.
This movie had me on edge. I literally was almost crying when I thought Will was gonna die.
Movie?
Forget about Barb, I want a Steve spin-off.
It never even crossed my mind that there were multiple storylines. They all fit together really well.
I really can't wait for S2, also I really think that the S2 will be like aboute saving eleven..
Kudos to Netflix for recognizing a good thing when they see it and to the Duffer bros for sticking to their creative integrity, while telling all the other studios to go stick their lack of vision and originality where the sun don't shine. Great show!
I cried after Elle and Mike kiss then Elle disappears.
The details you noticed are so cool! Love yah Erik!
just noticed Jonathan threw the fire (ball) at the demegorgen like Will did. Will didn't kill it, he only hurt it, like Jonathan.
The font also reminds me of the cult horror classic Phantasm (1979) -- very similar font, same color of red, and the "bleed through" effect.
Congratulations to Netflix
that was really high quality content, worth every second. i subscribed
I disagree with your statement that Nancy was helping Jonathon with his pictures - I think she just saw Barb and took them to see if she could work out what had happened to her.
Your predictions are so. GOOD.
best analysis ever....
worth every minute!
I realized that the weirdo on maple street is a reference to the twilight zone episode the monster on maple street
There are so many reasons why this show is perfect that to accurately tell every reason why it's so perfect, the video would have to be 3-4 hours long. This is the most perfect TV show I've ever watched, bar none and hands down.
When I saw the upside down I instantly thought of the last of us and the demogorgon made me think of clickers kinda and the monster from pan labyrinth
Awesome video dudes!!! You know a TH-cam video is good when you have to pause it every time someone tries to talk to you 🙂
Ive never watched Stranger Things before...before this. I am about to binge-watch the $#!t out of this show!
Random Channel it's so brilliant and perfectly planned out it's just amazing
same lol i just finished s1 rn and im so hyped for s2
This 'bubble' sound reminds me of the one from 'It Follows'. Great analysis btw! Oh, and Zdzisław is pronauced something like that: 'z jee swahv' :) His work is the best. A movie about him and his family just came out ('Ostatnia Rodzina' = 'The Last Family). Greetings from Poland!
My favorite character is 11 because she has super powers but mikes' got to take eleven to the snowball.
you guys deserve millions of subscribers you guys do such an amazing way of explaining everything. also when you cover stuff like the game of thrones you guys predicted like 80% of things that would happen. I hope you guys blow up soon.
tbh i fast forwarded through nancy and steve
Then you're missing the character development
We need them for the variety though
Mistake
boring characters
Jay Parikh same (mostly cause my mom is there)
SEASON 2 IS OUT YAY!!
BUT I FINISHED IT ALREADY NOOOO!!!
Eleven is my favorite :) anyone else?
I normally hate analysis videos, but it so happens I was discussing stranger things with a friend and WHY its so good. This analysis is really insightful and kind of makes me want to watch it all again.
I bet those networks that didnt except the show felt so bad, show was better than any ive ever seen personally
This is the first time I've watched a 30 minute video without getting bored. I think this proves my love for Stranger Things
I was thinking that in the second episode eleven didn't know what friends were, but there is a scene where here 'papa' says. Don't worry these are our friends. Does this mean she got brainwashed???
NR. I really like how you guys go into so much details.I enjoy your videos very much.
thats clever, we have to wait a year for the next season...
And it takes place a year later!
Fantastic analysis and it brought up things I hadn't even thought of regarding the show's blueprint!
I sure as hell ain't first!
But Barry Allan is the fastest man alive. How could you not be first?
+MaxHydroStorm he was busy disrupting the time line
You got so many references right at the end of this video 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I have a production eleven's brother could be named twelve
Lmao
For me the most emotional and touching moment was when Joyce heard Johnathan from Upside Down. That mother-son connection was great.
220 dislikes.......
well some people haven't watched the whole first season 😧😒😧.
Dude...this is freaking brilliant! You just put all of my thoughts & feelings about this series into one, cohesive, digestible, & thoroughly entertaining video. Well played, sir. Well played. :)
I want a season 3
You got what you wanted
love love loving this show .... and this page :) keep up the good work dude
The only thing I care about is mike and eleven.
Mileven 💕
Life as Mimi mileven 💞💞💞

I got to say I loved Winona Ryder as the scrawny struggling mother who would take on anything to save her kid. Nothing was going to stop her. Great job.
