33:03 he talks about adding a bunch of smaller details to the track that aren’t exactly noticeable on the first listen, but some people can really appreciate them the more they listen to the song. It makes the song have more of a staying power because it gives you new things to discover the more you listen to it. I am one of those people! I love when artists put so much work into their songs. It makes them fun to listen to more than once. Instead of just copying and pasting the drop, I love when artists have progressively evolving tracks. One of my favorite artists that does this is Ekcle. Their song Crafted in Ice is like a journey. The song sounds completely different at the beginning than the end.
you are going to rip/use a kick recorded externally with a simple camera microphone which when you rip it also will be converted (or is already) to mp3?
@ 35.28 he says "it's just an intro" in my opinion thats "just one of the most creative best intros' ever made, it contains so much details! for example that long reverb clap.... damn.
This is genius. And I am a pianist, but I am a Producer first. I really love the attention to detail, too many people have lost this in their production ideas.
Ouaw I love it ! Really generous Heady to share your experience and your vision about the making of a hardstyle track and its structure ! GOOD GOOD GOOD !
Thank you for making this, its an invaluable resource for aspiring producers to hear it like this, from somebody who knows what they're doing in regards to making original, style defining sounds
Willam, this is amazing information. I have learned a bunch from watching this entire video. Thank you for taking the time to show us how you make your magic!
I love how intrustments incl (synthesizers/pc's/traditional instruments) have evolved to control sound! Our "tools" have come a way which makes me think what does the future hold in store for us?
You HAVE to purchase the magazine via Print (wich is out of stock at the moment) or Apple Newsstand (iPad/iPhone ONLY) to get part 2! Google Play and Zinio does NOT include the tutorial! I made a mistake purchasing the magazine just to discover that I didn't get what I wanted. F***ing disappointed... :(
One of most chill and great producers Headhunterz................ Very Good words.... hahah when he is talking it inspires me to make a track lol hahah
I like to use presets to begin the structure. once I have the main structure worked out, then, I go about creating sounds to replace the presets and fill in the song.
I don't have that problem...I have more of a problem with keeping the ideas in my head when I start sound design as a starting point. I lose inspiration when I start the mathematics of creating a sound from scratch to make a song. Believe me when I say there are enough presets out there to get yourself close to what inspired you in the first place and make things right after you have the general idea down.
I understand it fine lol, Ive been using FM synthesis since the 90's. real musicians wright songs on pianos and acoustic guitas all the time...Whats more preset than a piano lol. Even electronic musicians do that. plus I am writing music that comes from the heart not trying to pander to the most popular sounds. I am writing for myself. I prefer to create the soul of the song in the song itself, not within a sound and create the sounds around the song rather than the other way round. What you just said proves how soulless your music is.
No, you missed my point. I meant while you just go and make a sound for a specific genre of music, pandering to the popular, that is soulless. Letting the song decide the sound however is not because you are writing it from the heart. Sound design is just as much an art form when your not pandering to same crap every time you start a song. One day I migh be making some minimal techno another I may be making a KMFDM style industrial track. I don't pander to genres I make whatever comes out of my head. You cant do that when you have predetermined what sound you intend to use.
***** Well said! Any form of art should come from the heart! A path without heart is not path worth following! - Castañeda. Music is a powerfull tool to control our own and other peoples emotions regardless of complexity!
Men...I don't know if you can or would ever read this...but THANKS SO MUCH...I know you said that you don't work with Massive...but viewing how you work...give me some really good tips on how to make my own sounds :D THANK YOU!!
He's probably danish or some other scandanavian country. I just know danish because they dont really have an accent so it sound like perfect english when they speak.
If you want to pitch kicks inside of Studio One, Melodyne is integrated quite nicely and it has a nice sounding pitching algorithm. You can also shape the way the punch merges into the tail pitch. That's at least the impression I got while working with it, someone correct me if im wrong I'm not an expert!
but in episode 9 of his podcast hard with style (hws) it sounds like he makes the intro by himself :O at the very beginning he says something like.."oh sorry my voice...i was sick" ??? :D
i love how this guy doesnt follow a scene like edm is like these days, the beatport top 10 is a fucking joke. Glad to see him staying true to his sound
Bought the Magazine on google play store, got full access to all the extra content such as vsts, samples and tutorial videos, but there is NO part 2 included anywhere.. and thats why I bought this magazine.. anyone knows how to get it?
Man you have a lot to learn haha no offense though There are different ways to create that effect, what you're looking for is "sidechain", you have to create a ducking effect, you could kill the reverb for a few ms and make it pop again with a compressor, you can create a volume automation by hand, it's that difficult dont worry, the compressor way is better imo, learn how to trigger an effect with an external signal, that's what sidechain is
I know he has a Virus TI2 in the rack on the left from the chair - but which synth is the most left one just in the console rack, integrated into his desk - the one with the red display (behind the master keyboard)? Virus C?
I think it's either a Nexus preset or done on the Access Virus. Because the sound is very isolated in this video, you could try to sample it and turn it into a useful instrument yourself?
How do you place an eq just on the reeverb in FL studio? Do you have to control it after the sound is played or can you just place it on reeverb somehow?
It is not foam, it is called a Skyline Diffuser... Hope this helps. P.s. for them to work properly, you have to do special calculations using the size of your room, and when you make it there is a special formula to the way that each piece is made because of its job and purpose. (Diffusing sounds to avoid reflections)
22:22 omg this kind of layering is just so goddamn fucking end level... Headhunterz is just a fucking hardstyle god... I'm straight but for him I would change my mind and give him a heady (😂) as often he wants me to...
I bought the digital version of CM200 to see part 2 of this video, but I can't seem to find it. Where is it? I've checked the vault but can't find it there either.
+dsrecs the sidechain pulls the reverb into or away from the kick (think of it as volume so the reverb is loud then quiet or quiet then loud so the kick or what ever isnt lost in the mix) like you do with melody and bass so it all sounds better as 1 the trigger is what tells it when to do this usually the same kick muted or summat like that lmao
+dsrecs Synth is sent to a reverb, reverb has a compressor, he sends the dry synth signal to the sidechain of that compressor, so the reverb "ducks" when the synth is played. This way you can have massive reverb without drowning the mix.
i may be foolish, but i actually almost never send signals out to a bus xD and yeah, sometimes one of my tracks will have like 10 different reverbs on various lanes ~shrugs~ idk, my processor is pretty strong, i usually only spike CPU when i have Ozone 7 active.
Music- and Sounddesign Musik- und Soundschmiede he does create his own vocals with some vst's (ohmicide) and more. i really dont know if this one is self created.

you must love atmozfears then hehe
I totally agree with everything u said
One the best producers of the decade.
yeah, probably the next quincy jones... /irony "off"
@Hansy he was sharing his opinion lol. Calm your tits. Obviously he likes hard style more than any other genre
@Hansy Clearly you haven't listened to much of Rob Mayth or Headhunterz lol, dickhead
hahahaha, you are dement cretin xD
I love headhunterz and I LOVE this track, thank you Heady and Computer Music for the masterclass!
he is such a good human..
No matter what he produces, he's the one that introduced me 6 years ago to Hardstyle! I'll always love & respect him :)
Willem is my favorite Producer of all time. His new tracks are just incredible
Very humble and his english is great.
I love that types of videos when producers show how the track is done, even if I don't really like hardstyle I learned a lot from heady :P
exactly
Nice tip for the side chain in the reverb, didn't know that :)
Headdy, you made a mistake by playing the kick alone in this video! Now Blutonium Boy is going to rip it :D
you are going to rip/use a kick recorded externally with a simple camera microphone which when you rip it also will be converted (or is already) to mp3?
hahaha yea this would give a very nice Sound lmfao xD
Presonus Studio One as DAW :)
WHY DONT YOU SHOW THOSE SYLENTH1 AND NEXUS PRESETS MANN
love that tip about pitching your kick in adobe audition, it's so much cleaner!
I need a masterclass from the 2016 headhunterz!!!!
hell yeah!
Nah
yes, of project one also
Drew Baum how about 2018
What a cool guy! Great to see how much he enjoys this music and talking about it.
@ 35.28 he says "it's just an intro" in my opinion thats "just one of the most creative best intros' ever made, it contains so much details! for example that long reverb clap.... damn.
Computer Music is getting better and better
One of the best tutorials on youtube these days, no matter which genre. Great explaining and really great job as usual Willem!!!

He's been my favorite for as long as I can remember and I just NOW find out we have the same name?!
Its just amazing seeing him being in love with his creation! Keep on your work heady, no matter what tha haters say.
Thank you CM for finally letting a hardstyle act do a masterclass!
Thank you for making this, its an invaluable resource for aspiring producers to hear it like this, from somebody who knows what they're doing in regards to making original, style defining sounds

ohh shit typing to fast lol
Please a masterclass with Hardcore techno will be awesome!!
Kick button -> 39:33
I like to use presets to begin the structure. once I have the main structure worked out, then, I go about creating sounds to replace the presets and fill in the song.
yeah but after that you ears are "accustomed" to the presets, and then, when you put your one song, it's sound like shit ^^'
I don't have that problem...I have more of a problem with keeping the ideas in my head when I start sound design as a starting point. I lose inspiration when I start the mathematics of creating a sound from scratch to make a song. His English sounds much better and clear like an american accent
***** i dont htink so alot of the non english speakers that I've met from europe have a british accent.
He's probably danish or some other scandanavian country. I just know danish because they dont really have an accent so it sound like perfect english when they speak.
snoopyguy21 ''perfect english'', accent ?...There's no such thing idiot.
snoopyguy21 He's Dutch.
ok. i was just a couple miles off :P
Learned a lot form this, thanks willem ^^
I was waiting for your comment.
First needed to watch the whole video :P
Oh shit, I actually thought he edited the vocals to make them sound so deep. Amazing that his MC has such a raspy voice.
CTC has vox dimension which is very nice. DimD on all mode is amazing! Perfect sends!
The reverb thing is just amazing
21:35 Heady be like: 'Yeah I know how sick and perfect this is' HAHAHAHAH OMG he is so fucking cute
Awesome production Heady !
He is making some deep voice here ; Creating the main part of my new track: "From Within"
this vocalist does the same work for noisecontrollers.. its pretty obvious in the track "summer in the city (decibel anthem 2009)"
He is such a pleasant and sympathetic personality... that's crazy. :D

really interesting interview willem, thx :)
1:52 i love that voice so mutch

i'd like a masterclass from Rebelion but damn, headhunterz, yo're badass duude
WitheredByTime hahaha Rebelion wtf!
WitheredByTime you don't need masterclass for rawstyle
Holy fuck! He’s using Studio One!! I swear he’s the only top DJ who uses it! Definitely the best DAW on the market! 🥳
good but not the best
@@mmbmashup7048 much better than Logic and Ableton I've found. I'm still trying to find 1 top DJ who uses Pro Tools which is the DAW I hate most lol.
@@djrobtech ableton i think it's better in terms of creativity they have some great stuff
@@mmbmashup7048 That's ok! I've upgraded everything to DP11 and loving it! Digital Performer is such underrated, especially for EDM!
What is the keyboard he's using? Axiom?

Ik zit al 6 jaar te klungelen met die melodie veranderingen in de gesamplede hardstyle kicks maar ik krijg op minuut 40 eindelijk het antwoord
I was finally able to get access to this issue. Spent good money for it to not even have a part 2. Got played like a mf.
the link for buying part 2 doesn't work anymore
headhunderz speaks good english for being dutch
30:13 'you see?' omg that's too goddamn hilarious
11:41 the vocals ! Really look like "Clever", an US hip hop artist !
Is het toevallig Jake Foushee die de vocals aan voor je intro doet?
really useful stuff! thanks a lot!
how do you get reverb to be dry when a sound hits but then when the note is finished then the reverb comes automatic? didn't really get that
I'm pretty late on this, but I think that it's sidechained. I mean, I can be horribly wrong since I just learned that yesterday 😅
yeah put a compressor after the reverb
Man you have a lot to learn haha no offense though
There are different ways to create that effect, what you're looking for is "sidechain", you have to create a ducking effect, you could kill the reverb for a few ms and make it pop again with a compressor, you can create a volume automation by hand, it's that difficult dont worry, the compressor way is better imo, learn how to trigger an effect with an external signal, that's what sidechain is
I would love to connect with this guy. How can this happen?
Love your positive attitude Bart Boom, your just soooo awesome.
Kevin Butts Jr
You like his just?
:P
What were you trying to say zeepster?
You are just a positive person. I can tell Bart Boom
practice + practice + practice
Wish I had that studio and got paid for doing what I love.
Can I still buy this issue of the magazine? I can't find it anywhere and I really want the second part of the tutorial.
He speaks very good English. It’s like he’s from the USA. Side by side comparison to both countries he sounds American.
I know he has a Virus TI2 in the rack on the left from the chair - but which synth is the most left one just in the console rack, integrated into his desk - the one with the red display (behind the master keyboard)? Virus C?
what kind of program is he using for pitching the kicks etc.
Adobe Audition
:o Euphorizer !! Really love your track rainbows :p
I love those Genelecs !!!
is that by any chance the guy that does optimus prime? not joking.. serious question ;)
+Brent Belmans Nope, not the same guy
sidechaining the reverb is a great tip, very usefull video.

anyone know who this „american voice over“ guy is?? i want his vocals!🔥
Headhunters is the best.

he tried to build some extra Atmozfears :O... how about that! haha all things aside, i loved to see this thanks heady! :D

The Video is only on the Iphone / Ipad Version or in the physical Copy.. :/
I still cant get the audio kicks to filter through the es2 on logic pro eight because its stupid isn't it! I NEED TO MAKE A KICKBASS! :)
Like the opening intro
What is he talking about at 10:06? He sends it to the side chain of what after the reverb? A compressor?
+dsrecs the sidechain pulls the reverb into or away from the kick (think of it as volume so the reverb is loud then quiet or quiet then loud so the kick or what ever isnt lost in the mix) like you do with melody and bass so it all sounds better as 1 the trigger is what tells it when to do this usually the same kick muted or summat like that lmao
