Today I'm sharing with you one of the first bikes I flipped off craigslist nearly ten years ago. This was a 2003 yamaha vstar 1100 custom. I traveled two hours to Tucson to buy the bike and learned some valuable lessons. Stay tuned to see what I paid and how much I ended up making. Enjoy!

I'm with your buyers on the apes, they are NOT for me. Which brings up another point: I'm currently shopping for my next bike, vstar 1100, Honda VTX etc. I do NOT want a bike that someone has customized to make "their own" because "their own" is not to my taste so I have to invest a lot of time and money to either get it back to stock, OR make it something that IS to my taste....so in effect, that $5000 you invested in "upgrades" is $5000 wasted on me.
I can't tell you how many I have seen with tassles, and custom flames, etc that I just pass on by because they didn't keep the stock parts for me to put back on

Yeah I'm seeing those, the 650s, and sometimes sportsters going for much cheaper than ever recently in my area. Fuel injection is nice, but if you are on a budget and see a deal don't be scared of a carbed bike people!

Don't be afraid of a Carburetor on a Bike.
I've been on a 2005 yamaha V-Star 1100 and she starts every single time with no trouble at all & very little choke to get her warmed up (2 - 5) minutes max the Bike is a gently used 2005 V-Star 1100 it was fitted with a custom seat , Cobra exhaust, cup holder, and an oils relocation kit
She purrs like a Kitten 😸

In 2004 they sold both carburetor and Injected bikes. Would it be possible to change from the carbs to fuel injection? I have the carburetor version and they keep drifting off every ~ 700 miles they need readjustment. A real pain.

Q n A , Question - LOOKING FOR HOLY GRAIL . your just the guy I wanted to ask this to, so timing is perfect. My background ,17 yrs riding exp. 10 yrs on sport bikes so I love speed and leaning. Been on a Kawasaki mean streak for the past 7 yrs which is fast and leans with the best of them. Looking to buy a used muscle cruiser that can still lean but is also comfortable now that im getting older (36). I dont want anything less then 1500 CC, im vain so its gotta look "cool" but most of all its gotta be able to rail some turns. Was looking at the Yamaha Raider (or Roadliner) from how much you liked it in your videos. I know "comfortable" "muscle cruiser" and "leaning" dont belong in the same sentence but since youve ridding more bikes then anyone I know, Id love to get your opinion. Thanks ahead of time. Rick NYC.

Vstar1100 is the best first bike because you have a lot of cheaper parts and information to fix your motorcycle. This is big enough to do many days highway trips. Also, you will learn to ride a motorcycle with that, it is heavy enough to ride in the right way and make a difference between bicycle and motorcycle. A lot of really powerful motorcycles are super light , people ride those motorbikes like bicycles and this is really dangerous. Moreover, if you have the habit to ride a vstar1100, you can ride a bigger touring without any problem. This is not the case if you learn with a trail or coffee racer. Also, you learn why people like cruisers much more. The game of a cruiser bike is to drive as smooth as possible like a feather

What do you want to know?
      I do it!
      buy low sell high..
make every bike you get better in one way or another!
Sometimes riding them is all it takes..
Some owners do not take proper care, change the oil and coolant, if it “runs”, put good gas with some additives and run it hard..
usually clears the carbs and gets it running good..
I don’t deal with fuel injected bikes though, so no help there!

Well yes purchasing any kind of vehicle without a title is going to lead to delays in receiving the title. Personally, I prefer carbureted bikes and own a vxs 1100 and find it easier working on carbureted systems than fuel injection since I'm an old school rider and have been riding and wrenching on carbureted bikes I have owned since the 70's, to each there own. If your only into flipping bikes for profit you had better know how to wrench on a barn find and sell it in better condition than you found it otherwise you're in the wrong business. I've always said If you can't work on a bike, you shouldn't own it otherwise pay through the nose to have it worked on.

Dude you just still looked at the market before you went into it. You paid about market value for that motorcycle. You were lucky to get $3,500 out of it. Just do your research man. If you're buying them for what their market value is, you're not going to make a ton of profit. I literally flip anywhere from 5 to 15 motorcycles a year. Depending on how busy I am at work I pick them up for almost nothing. Not running. Fix the issues, throw some paint on them. I do everything myself and I make substantial profit on every one of them. If you're buying a pristine motorcycle and trying to sell a pristine motorcycle both of your purchase and your sale price are going to be very very close together. Elbow grease buddy elbow grease. That's where the profit is. If you don't understand how to do it then I'd suggest taking some classes or just finding a buddy who knows how to do it. Learn these things man. Learn how to adjust these vows. Learn how to identify if you can hear the starter gear grinding. Learn all of these little things

You probably flooded your area with the 1100’s . So eventually you have to try other bikes. It’s not the carburetor that caused you to stop selling them. I did the same thing with Fuel injected Vulcans. Now I’m selling carb 1100 vstars.
