How To Install A Springer Front End - Honda Shadow Bobber Build

- Here, I have taken all of the guess work out of installing the springer front end for your Honda Shadow VT600.
NOTE: on some models of VT600 the fork locks on the lower end of the neck may make sliding the springer on a bit more difficult. the answer to this is to set the springer up on the neck without the steering stem, then push the steering stem up into the fork from the bottom, slip on the dust seal and lower bearing and push the stem all the way up into the neck, then add your upper steering stem bearings and top clamp and proceed from there. =)
When you purchase the kit with our springer front end, you will have everything you need to easily fit the Springer to your Honda Shadow VT600!

EASY TO INSTALL IN 11 SIMPLE STEPS!
1. Remove stock front end.
2. Drift out stock steering bearing races.
3. Install steering bearing races.
4. Drift out wheel bearings and wheel spacer.
5. Install new wheel bearings with bearing spacer in hub.
6. Mount axle and wheel spacers to Springer.
7. Install lower steering bearing dust shield and bearing.
8. Install Springer to steering neck.
9. Install top steering bearing with dust cover.
10. Install top clamp, centering nut, and stem nut.
11. Tighten top clamp bolts.
The stock risers on your Honda Shadow will not fit these Springers. You will need to either get a set of aftermarket risers for your Springer or you can pick up a set of our risers which are specifically meant to fit this Springer Kit. All the parts you sell seam pretty high quality. After I do a xs650 bobber I really wanna build one of these shadows. And you seam to have all kinds of great stuff going on with these bikes. And I just love the look of the springer front end!

Props for your technique, man! I cringe when seeing so many 'pros' bang things into place with a mallet instead of doing it properly, like you with the axle in this vid, by aligning and 'massaging' it into place. Great vid!
By 'pros' I meant the guys who are usually highlighted in the many custom bike builder shows yet exhibit questionable techniques... that's why I put that moniker in snarky quotes. ;) Either way you give good practical advice for the uninitiated who would otherwise ham-fist builds/mods due to bad practices exhibited in shows like "American Chopper", "Build or Bust", "Biker Battleground", "Wrench Against the Machine" et al...
I know where you're coming from. Forty years ago when I started customizing and building motorcycles based on what I could afford as a high school, and later, college student meant I had inexpensive metric bikes to work with and had to learn how to modify existing parts, shape steel and weld it all together. I'm a huge fan of the XVS 650 (the 'modern' day XS650 of my era, as far as I'm concerned) and may wind up customizing them for sale to keep me busy and out of trouble when I retire soon. Keep on keepin' on , man. I hope you make a living from your passion... you have my vote. Friggin nice springer btw and I really appreciate your efforts in going against the grain, as it were, by customizing what you like and not following the mainstream.

Stock rake is 35° and stock front end length is 24". For your over length frontends due you compensate with more rake or still stock?
I have a 2003 Honda Shadow Spirit. I need to replace my front fork seals and was thinking I might just replace the front end with a springer kit if I could find one. Anyone have any suggestions of a bolt on kit for a 2003 Honda Shadow?

Are those pullbacks on the Shadow you ride at beginning :23? They remind me of handlebars I had on my 1972 HD Super Glide. I have 1988 VT600 I'm looking to chop. Grateful to have found TJ and others offering custom bobber stuff for 600's.

My search for a springer for my vt1100 comes back to you haha. I have your backdraft exhaust on my 02 sabre and love em. You can run most generic Springer front ends
Please tell me you have a vt1100 kit and it will work on a 94 shaow. I've been looking to switch out my forks, so that I can put a 21" rim on my 1994 shadow.
DNA makes springers like this one. You pretty much just have to make sure you have a set of 1" bearings for your bikes neck since most springers use a 1" stem. Then find a 21" wheel with 3/4 wheel axle which the DNA requires too. You can Google all of this. Good luck!
Hi TJ, i love your video. I have 98 VLX 600, but i have some problems. Please can you help me for these trouble, ill be greatfull for that..
My problem is :
1. When i want to use use my vlx, i smell gas on my garage, and when i start it up the gas is coming out from rear exhaust (sometimes plenty of gas) and lil bit hard to start and also when fired it up it always 1 cylinder (only front cylinder), but the rear cylinder its not firing, it takes maybe 1 or 2 minutes to have normal firing until the leaking gas are dissappear. This happen every time i park my bike on garage (spent for 1 or 2 night). I believe its from carb floating chamber is not good. Then i try to fixed and find out through my manual book.
Now the gas never come out again from the rear exhaust, but still every time i start the engine, the sound only one (same like before) but only takes half minute to get normal.
The next day i use my vlx for going back to my town, after 3 miles my bike is getting worse from before, it runs like hell...its like only cylinder working, and then normal again, then one cylinder working again, and then normal again..on and on and on.. (you know what i mean) ?
Its not like one two firing like normal, i feel horrible, the exhaust sound also like XS 650 like "braapp...braapp....brapp..brapp" continuesly with high rpm. Then when i stop i saw so many smoke comming out from the right side of my bike, i stoppped and try to find out whats going on. In that time i think its because gas leaking again but its not ! Its oil !
I saw oil comming out and dripping on my breather kit, then i try to dissamble, when i pulled out the hose from crankcase breather separator to breather kit, its come out so many oil, then i call my friend storing to getting back to my home and fixed it.
The next day i try to fixed again. I think there someting erong with evaporator cav control valve hose and evaporator purge control valve, it seems ok, i also tested and its ok, i cleaned it up also the breather kit but i cant solve my problem.
then i ask my friend i tell the story also, he said "your carb floating chamber should be change", and other friend said "your water pump seal problem" (i think its not from water pump seal, even when THAT happen comming out some gas also and lil bit water)
So what should i do TJ ? Can you help me please, cuz i need back to my home town ☹

A springer does look good - extends the front that little bit. You didn't pack the bearings with grease. Was that because you were just making a demo video?
