Wow, the Meg really did flout the rules of royal dressing. She must have been a trial to those who were appointed to help her. Dark blue that actually looks black, wide boat necks, sleeveless…this shows how hard the Meg worked to avoid the Queen’s wishes for how the Royals were to dress when representing her. What a stupid way to waste one’s energy.
@nancyj621 - for special events, like the Commonwealth services, and christenings, the royal ladies would be given a colour palette. So the meg wore a slurry-coloured dress when the theme for Louis' christening was light blue and cream - she wore bright green when the colour scheme in Westminster Abbey was red, white and blue - and navy when the choice was from spring flower colours when on the balcony. My elderly neighbour thinks she's "brave" and there shouldn't be orders as to what to wear - but we all know she chose her outfits deliberately. In my opinion she did not look "brave" or stylish, or anything but silly!
The "colour code", apart from probably many other reasons, was/is to create a unified picture with some sort of message. Megan wearing her colours was like splashing scrambled eggs or steamed spinach onto a piece of art.
We felt so sorry for Diana! She was such a brave young woman to go out in front of all those people and to have the wardrobe malfunction because of the poor fit must have been devastating.
I think the worst thing about that boat neck on the Dior dress is that it shows up the contrast between Meghan’s white shoulders and her orange face and neck….

I’m a year younger than Diana and that dress was definitely on point for that moment in time, taffeta and ruffles. I also had a formal taffeta dress with ruffles. It was definitely an early 80’s trend. I hope it doesn’t revive, laughing but loved it at the time.
Nutmeg always looks like she jumped in a laundry basket, wiggled around, and came up with something. She could wear the most beautiful dress ever, and make it look like it’s worth 50 cents!
I still can't get over the white belted coat disaster she wore for her engagement announcement. The dress was hanging out of it, and the coat hemline was uneven as heck. I looked at it and thought, "Is that the best this woman can do?" Apparently so.
Hi Beebs, excellent to see you today. Please don’t forget to comment on the latest beige dress that MM wore and THAT red outfit that Kate wore, please…….
As you know, Beebs, QEII wore strapless gowns quite a bit. That was the thing then. A lady of any age would never have worn a dress with sleeves to an evening event. My mother wore sleeveless gowns with opera gloves. You could get your hands out of the gloves during dinner. Short black dresses are for cocktail parties or the theatre or a funeral. They are not for day, even if you are not a member of the royal family. That woman always gets things wrong and you are always right to point it out!
“ Megan wore a navy blue, Audrey Hepburn inspired, bespoke Dior dress with a boat neck.” So apparently it was blue and made for her. She should have asked for a refund.
I thought the photos on the balcony it looked navy. They were close ups done with a big lens. MM gave HMQE11 the side eye when she was next to her on the balcony.

I didn’t like the white shoes with the black dress either! Looks like she actually cut the collar off that dress too. I loved Beyoncé in that black strapless gown. It accentuated her hour glass figure perfectly. Catherine stuns in anything.
I am especially amused by the remarkable color change in the Meg's last outfit. Not the dress, but the huge change in skin tones from her obviously bronzer-ed face and shoulders down to her pale twiggy legs. 😂
MM loves her shoulders, also not her best feature. The dress looked dark navy to me; the white shoes are used to elongate her leg, I think that MM was thinking. It’s even worse that the dress was black. And the shoes don’t help her. They should have been black.
I just found this channel so sorry for late reply but I think the same. Sure the Packham dresses are lovely, but they start to feel the same. McQueen has that edgy vibe that I think Catherine likes and pulls off immaculately.
I agree with the boob murdering that some designers do. Breasts are every woman’s uniqueness, don’t mess with them. Was it the actress Olivia? Did you notice that the front has a Mickey Mouse silhouette? Awful. Some dresses are so beautiful, why do some turn into such messes?
@barbaralamb6377 Sweetie, one compares the fashion, the outfits, not the person!! Princess Diana was and will always be an style-icon, it's an honor to still think and talk about her, so this way she will never be forgotten!! People respected her and will do that in the future!!! Love from an old rebel-Pinkie
Someone, somewhere, once upon a time must have told the Meg that she had fabulous shoulders, and she's taken that comment and run with it ever since. That's the only reason I can think that she constantly bares them.
This One's Wife has never met an exaggerated boat neckline that she did not love. I nearly choked on my coffee when she wore a tweed wool coat with an exaggerated boat neckline. From memory both her shoulders were completely exposed.
How happy I am that I missed seeing that monstrosity! But just from your description, I should probably follow Beebs example and go for a recuperative walk.
Beebs, so happy to hear your post. I enjoy hearing your excellent observations. They are so on point. Some people have wonderful taste and others need help. Katherine just has a great eye and doesn't make a lot of mistakes. Diana had great taste, too.
Love the black dress breakdowns! Would love more and more! Beebs,I love the way you present these things, so passionate but so willing to be kind towards the mistakes as well. MM actually came out looking decent in this batch for a change. Have a happy day! 💛
That Megsy boat neck dress. Anyone else notice the face and neck bronzer. The shoulders were left white so that it looked like a bronze neck mounted on white shoulders. So visually jarring!!!
The new 'Charlies' Angels' (Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, Princess, Catherine) know how to dress with style and respect for themselves and their audiences.
While we're adding to the Angels roster, don't forget Zara. I love Catherine but I do feel Zara runs a close second for style whenever she's at a royal event.
@@decodolly1535Zara is the most beautiful of them all, but not as close to the King or as active as the other three; but, adding her and Duchess Sophie makes a formidable opposition, I think.
The issue with the Balmain blazer is it was designed for a slender boyish figure, think 20s flapper.. looks good on supermodels, but as soon as you try to squeeze a butt and boobs into it, it starts looking messy and it widens your whole appearance like a drop waist would
The Emmanuels were terrible dress designers. The black dress looked awful on Di - like she’d been raiding her mother’s wardrobe - and the less said about the wedding dress, the better.
@GradKat - I remember a journalist from another country (sorry, can't remember who she was) commenting in an article that on the day of the royal wedding she had turned on the television to see a young woman in a duvet and a net curtain walking up the aisle. I thought that was harsh, I was feeling sorry for Diana at the time as my intuition had kicked in after the engagement interview. But the dress was, in my opinion, dreadful. It seemed to swamp her - I had imagined that she would have worn something elegant and stunning. The stunning part was how huge and fussy it was!
I was so much disappointed when I saw PD drowned in that puffy merengue. I was the same age Diana was and my heart just bled. The black dress looked as if it was a size too small. I remember a photo showing D getting into the limousine - her boobs were just popping out, she had to clutch the decoltage.
I thought I was the only one who disliked Diana’s wedding dress. It was over the top fussy and wasn’t what a young girl of her age should be wearing. She was swamped by all the ruffles.
I didn't like Diana's dress either. It looked uncomfortable and heavy for her. Not to mention it looked like she was drowning in it, making her appear wider and shorter than she actually is (and Diana is quite tall). I think Diana would have looked better if she wore a dress with a similar design to Catherine's.
Informative and interesting, Beebs, as always! Sofia has developed a sophisticated style that looks beautiful on her, and the severe middle part still works because of her heart shaped, youthful face. I’m not a fan of this severe hair style on the Megs because it ages her by a decade or two and emphasizes her receding hairline. Meg’s blazer dress blew my mind because it looked tailored correctly! Maybe she took it from her Suits wardrobe, because I don’t think proper fitting ever occurred again during her stay with the RF. 😂 Thanks for doing what you do so well! ❤
I feel like MM changed every single dress to almost show her shoulders, including her wedding dress, even though it is the least flattering neck line on her. As if it was her way of needling the RF but never quite breaking a rule. And bc she never actually showed her shoulders, no one could say anything without being considered nit picking.
I’d bet that someone, somewhere, whom Meghan thought had “important opinions”, told her that her shoulders were beautiful and ever since, she’s felt the need to show off her shoulders. It’s be very boring.
I bet the nude shoes were meant to draw attention to her, any attention is better than no attention, even ridicule is preferable because it means someone noticed her!
I absolutely love anytime Catherine collabs with Sarah Burton (she went to my high school lol) I reaally hope they continue to work together now she's left Alexander McQueen
Did you see the dresses at the state banquet for South Koreas President? The Presidents first lady wore a black, long sleeved dress with silver embelishments and I would love to hear what you thought of that particular black dress. Also could you do a run down on the dresses from that evening please? I'd love to hear your thoughts on them.
Diana's first grown up gown was before her wedding dress, she chose her wedding dress designer after the black gown. She was still Lady Diana Spencer. The black velvet off the shoulder was when she danced with John Travolta.
I believe the boat neck Dior dress was actually navy blue but it was still inappropriately dark for a day event. The facinator, clutch, and shoes should have matched and could have been a complimentary darker color to a lighter dress. I think you're right about the boat neck alteration as a seamstress, the lines seem to me to be off for original construction vs alteration. She just can't wear appropriately fitted clothing with proper foundation garments. She was never given proper instruction growing up with a single dad, refused instruction allegedly once in the BRF, and based on pictorial evidence, continues to have fashion blindness. She probably saw her clothes on Suits as uniform because that didn’t carry over into her off-set life during those seven years either.
I agree that the boat neck Dior dress was actually navy blue, having seen it pictured on the Palace balcony several times over. What I never saw was the nude/whitish grey looking shoes she paired the dress with. What in the world was she thinking??? One usually strives to elongate their look in a cohesive manner. Not her, apparently. The peculiar thing about SUITS is that the women featured on the show, including the secretaries to a degree, like Meghan, wore expensive, upscale apparel within the law firm, and it fit to a "T". Regardless of her objections, it is clear she has always needed someone to layout her apparel for the day, much like Garanimals.

I think Meagan’s black dress boat neck was the same pattern for her wedding dress.
Excellent observation. It does look the same.
The neckline fits her shoulders equally badly.
You make me laugh at having to take a walk to calm yourself after the "tragedy." You look wonderful in red. Gorgeous.
You’re feeling good tonight aren’t you Beebs? 😂🤣😂🤣 I love you this way 🤘
She's sassy ❤❤
Very clever!
Charlie's Angels, I love it!
Don't forget lovely Sophie Duchess of Edinburgh. She's a Charlie's angel too
@@secretsquirrel7374 How could I forget? Sophie definitely belongs!
The issue with the Balmain blazer is it was designed for a slender boyish figure, think 20s flapper.. looks good on supermodels, but as soon as you try to squeeze a butt and boobs into it, it starts looking messy and it widens your whole appearance like a drop waist would
How come you haven't talked about the beige disaster yet, Beebs?
There are too many MM disasters. Beebs can't keep up. 😂
Yes please do another black dress video and I love Catherine’s last dress with the sleeves rather than off the shoulder 😊
P.S. you have looked stunning lately. Best wishes😊
Thank you
I feel like MM changed every single dress to almost show her shoulders, including her wedding dress, even though it is the least flattering neck line on her.
I never like the center part. It looks flat and frumpy.
Love listening to you, and love your funny quips.❤
I bet the nude shoes were meant to draw attention to her, any attention is better than no attention, even ridicule is preferable because it means someone noticed her!
Perhaps the nude shoe disaster was to draw attention to her legs. She seems to think she has attractive legs
I absolutely love anytime Catherine collabs with Sarah Burton (she went to my high school lol) I reaally hope they continue to work together now she's left Alexander McQueen
That shade of your top is gorgeous Beebs. I like how you explain things it is very helpful.
This video is going to make it into the Vintage Beebs Hall of Fame. I’m gonna watch it again, right now. Sooo much fun!
Kirsten Dunst looks stunning, but why stand pin-toed?
I remember when Diana first wore that black, strapless evening gown. You’re right, it was one of her first “grown-up” looks. Glamorous! Daring!
Totally agree, I'd love Beebs take on the whole state visit, both daytime and evening outfits. Catherine looked amazing in the red outfit omg!! ❤
"Too tight bra, too tight garment, ridiculous human being". And now I need to lay down because laughing that much hurts!
Yes more black dresses please!
I don't even recognize Beyonce anymore . Is it just me??? I was like who's that?? Lol!
I think the gold standard is Judy Garland wearing an oversized tuxedo jacket in the movies.
I loved this one, Beebs. The more the merrier!
That's a t-shirt quote if I've ever heard one! "Doing weird stuff with their boobs and wearing stupid shoes"
Kate would look flawless in a paper bag.
Love your pieces, keep on sweetheart
Sad, scarry? Not right!!
I didn't like any of the blazer dresses. I think they're ugly and the one with the plunging no bra look was ridiculousl.
@@theshadowfax239 Excuse me, you don't even know me....Karen. there's always one bully on the comment board, guess you're the winner today. What an asinine comment.
I will never understand nude shoes with an all black outfit 🤦♀️
Like you said, quote: "Why...why, why, why, WHY??" 😮💨
I love Kirsten Dunst's dress, I have watched her career ever since she was in Interview with a Vampire and she has turned into a great actor with fabulous fashion sense. I love the Dior it is great. Why couldn't Meggie have worn black shoes with her Dior dress, she has several pairs of black pumps; Dior, Aquazurra, Jimmy Choo and more
Yes another black dress part 3 please
Ohh yes, that McQueen dress! I was obsessed with that the first time, so when I saw the second one I was like, whaaat? The first look was giving off almost a Spanish vibe. I always forget about it too, you don't see it much. Stunning 💃🖤
I think Megain's hat is meant to look like a helicopter. 🚁
My favourite blazer dress was the one Judy Garland wore singing 🎶Get Happy🎶
Good call - that was the blazer dress to end all other blazer dresses.
The Other One. The black dress, nude shoes and a ceiling fan for a hat!
You look so glamorous. I absolutely love your top! ❤
When doing walkabouts the late Queen liked bright colours, this was so the public, who had come to see them, could easily spot them. Meghan wore black and shades of beige loads
And then complained that she was 'forced' to wear those colours.
