      As it sits something major is the only thing that can change it.
      Embiid in 2nd with.a 20% shot and he is hurt and will be missing games.
      Giannis 11% shot and wait he is hurt.
      Straight up Jokic is better at team basketball than everybody. Then you add in the most important stat availability. Short injury Jokic has this.
      My question is, what is the media going to do next season when he is even better?

      Master "Basic" basketball and you will dominate. Basic is this: you put the ball into the hoop, nothing more, nothing else: BUCKETS! No need to go and dunk from half court or shoot a 3 from VIP lounge, just put the ball in the hole and you win. Easy peazy.

      Mr Hicko, What is athleticism? The dude that just won the dunk contest is athletic to US standards will never start in the NBA.
      Anthony Davis great player is considered athletic. But please tell me in what way? Maybe a little better lateral movement than Joker but nowhere the footwork or soft hands nor balance. Plus he is always hurt. I am old and started watchin the NBA in the early 60's. Guys that could jump high
      they just gave them nick names like jumping Johnny or Kangaroo. Since we have flagrant fouls now, no handcheck, no enforcers if guys try to show up the competition the dunk has become enamored. Wilt would hve put you 10 rows up if you tried flying over the defense to dunk.
      They would not do it. End a career. What Joker has is supern athletic skills to play basket ball. It is not a track meet.

      Alot more to being athletic then jumping. See the spins moves and how he can dribble the ball up the court..that's athletic. I bet ya couldn't do it and doubt ya 7 foot tall. This whole being athletic means you can jump high needs to stop. There is different types of athleticism and those of us who actually played the game know this

  • @kpcart
    @kpcart ปีที่แล้ว +221

    He is not unathletic, he just has the lowest jump, and it is actually a glod tactic: doesn't use energy for pointless show off dunks and over the top shots and lay ups. He runs the court as quick as anyone, rebounds as good as the best, passes faster than point guards, and his spin moves are as fast and precise as anyone in the league.

      you are right. That is the reason he gets so much hate. Look at him. Is he shredded? Does he jump high? Does he play "attractive", meaning crazy dunks? Luka is also in the league, Sengun came. Players that dominate with brains, cause they learn footwork and play every position since they are 10. One group is making dunk mixtapes against their highschool colleagues, and the other group is playing against grown men when they turn 16 (if they are good enough, if not, bye, pick up a book. no participation trophies here). Of course there will be KD, Curry, LBJ, Kyrie... type of players. But the average ones better start working on their fundamentals.

    @MrBigPipesYT ปีที่แล้ว +78

    Lol, he's not slow or unathletic. He's super efficient with his movements and game. Players have to play at his pace because he's such a passing/scoring threat.
    He's nearly 300lbs and 7ft tall. He's a giant among giants if you see him in real life. Dude plays point guard and center. There have only been a handful of people who have been able to do so at the highest level(Magic, Bird, Dirk was more of a 3-5 plater) the best person to do it so far. If his longevity holds up, he's a generational player but already a legend of the game even if he were to quit playing today.
    If Jokic can keep this up for another 5-6 seasons, it would probably put him among the best ever in combined stats as he's on pace for 20,000pts/10,000ast/10,000reb. Chris Paul is the only player to achieve 20kpts and 10k assists, Jokic is on pace to achieve that with an added 10k rebounds as a center. What Jokic does in the NBA could be comparable to Ohtani in baseball.

      He has sense for the game. Many people think this is some genius and he makes 100 calculations per second to make those plays.
      It just simple sense for the game that develops when somoene loves what he does in life.
      When you love what you do in life- everything comes to you easy. Put lots of practice like he does and have his height- and you will do just fine.
      Lots of basketball players are in NBA because of sheer will to succeed in life and have a secure future and money. to some, the love of the game is not even secondary. To some being in NBA is to feed their ego. For some is to sleep with women, to others to prove something to others.
      It is clear Jokic likes to outsmart his opponents and to find gaps and small little cute solutions for the problem that the opposing team presents. He enjoys doing what he does and this is why it looks so effortless because it really is.
      He is not forcing himself to drive to the paing and dunk on 3 people just to prove he is a beast. He doesnt do what he does to PROVE ANYTHING TO ANYONE despite the narratives surrounding him.
      He is like a kid in a toystore enjoying every single minute of it. He doesnt care how others see him, he doesnt care to put up muscles or look physically imposing.
      The dude just loves to play the game. Its not genius, its not some God given gift. its love, pure love for the game.
      Lots of people dont understand this. You can tell that he is dissapointed when journalists ask him some stupid questions like how does it feel to "dominate " how does it feel to "destroy your opponents" and he is like wtf?
      HE is there to enjoy himself he is not there to kill opponents will to compete. He simply wants to outplay and outsmart his opponents and find solutions for the enemy defense.

      The point of Jokic’s great talent is precisely that he does NOT have to “ calculate every single move “. Rather, he has an intuitive/ instinctual set of abilities.

    What si so great about Jokic, his passes to players, is that they read him/his passes, they very well coordinate with his moves.

    Jokic is currently above 60/40/80 in his shooting percentages. Only one player ever had a season with 60% from the field and 80% from the line (with 20+ ppg), and that was Kevin McHale, 1 time and he made 0 three pointers that year. Jokic is currently at .402 and .450 in his last 44 games.

    How can someone say that Jokic is not athletic!!

  • @joenoriega6015
    @joenoriega6015 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    All of that is True! 🤷‍♂️
    But the thing is Jokic is a MVP level player because of his skills not athleticism. People are so in love with athleticism, measurements, etc that they forget to be great in the game you need to be fundamentally sound and to have some kind of skill. Athleticism can only take you so far, and once it's gone... It's gone. Skills are Forever!

    Watch the play at 3:05. He looks slow when he's backing into the defender and bumping him, but after the defender over commits to one side, Jokic's spin move to the basket is so quick the defender doesn't have time to turn around. All basketball players probably have a lot to learn about switching up pacing to confuse and throw off defenders.

    I don't care if Jovic is slow or fast but the most important of all, he has the ability to send a ball into the rim with a few misses by IQ and passing ability. Speed is not always bringing a victory. Fast speed often lead to a serious injury.
