Maybe you shold look at his SSTO tutorial. After seeing it, my SSTOs are actually Single Stage to Orbit instead of single stage to ocean ^^.
I can't really call my ssto's an ssto since they're always stranded in space because the lack of fuel.
Challenge:
Do a mission to the Mun in real time.

It's actually pretty easy to do but he need atleast 100k m/s dV with Kerbin (and vacuum too) TWR 3 and more. Whole mission can be done in 30-40 minutes.
No timewarp challenge
Today we are driving a rover up a mountain! And also, this is played on 100 percent reentry heating.

The luck helped, it went perfectly. to celebrate, i did a manned mission to the mun, put jeb in orbit, then de-orbited him
The easier way to do it is have a probe land instead of an Apollo or Direct Ascent mission. Design it as a no-return mission.
Harris I sent manned mission to Duna without parachutes.
My kerbals are there till blunder birds go rescue they. (my three missions there) and rescue someone in orbit around jool.... And in the Mun..... And in Minmus...... And need to take back a probe with a horrible orbit.
And Jeb, Bill and Val are ded.

Gonna have to look for it on Bradley Whitstance's channel. If he doesn't have an Eve SSTO, it can't be done.
CountArtha Scott Manley has one, but with moded parts in a very old version
It's not possible to do a SSTO that lands the whole thing on Eve or Tylo. You have to use landers/ISRUs in stock KSP. Stratenblitz has one that uses a mothership + orbital tug. Bradley Whistance has one that uses ISRUs.

In the stock game its not possible to ascend from anything but the absolute tallest peaks of Eve in a single stage. When you factor in the transfer stage & other mission hardware, it becomes even less viable.
I always use an ISRU for my craft to everywhere.

Can you build an SSTO that is stable during re-entry/aerobraking?
The trick there is to have the center of mass ahead of the center of lift wen out of/low on fuel.
I'm confused as to how he can use his liquid engines when he's run out of oxidizer. Can anyone explain this to me?
Sombota King the Nuclear engine he uses only uses Liquid Fuel. The Engine is in the middle

Make an SSTO that can perform this mission while using USI Life Support with habitability turned on and I'll be far more impressed. (I still enjoyed the vid though) :)
Just for me, I strongly prefer videos with commentary to music videos, at least when it comes to gameplay.
A little correction:
"Angle of attack" isn't the angle at which you're pointing the craft, but the angle of your craft relative to your prograde.
That's it, sorry for being anal about such a small mistake :)
Further correction. Angle of attack, or AOA, is the angle between the chord line of a wing/airfoil, and the direction of relative airflow.

I can't even build an SSTA! (Single Stage To Anywhere)
I have, however, built a reusable booster to launch 1200 tons to LKO! I totally SUCK at getting it back to KSC. It usually ends up quite a distance away, but still recoverable.
One day, I'll be able to do a few of the things in these videos...hopefully!
How much wing area do you need to get a space plane into orbit? It looks like yours barely had any and it worked really well.

I already did something like this in KSP using a ship I called the archangel but It could barely get into orbit and it ran out of fuel right as it was heading into the atmosphere, but nice video. I might be able to send the craft file if you don't believe me.
You know Matt, I love your videos, and one day I hope to work out how in the heck I land on Mun, ive only just started to get into orbit above kerbin regularly, you put me to shame :
My first attempt at an SSTO got into orbit.
2 weeks later, I have made no progress.
Help me plz.
Add more rapiers
Add more wings
Use the wings that have fuel tanks
Use MK3 sized parts
Use much less oxidiser
Don’t use RCS thrusters, as monopropellant tanks are heavy, use big reaction wheels instead
Add some small solar panels
Make the body of the SSTO kinda short
EDIT: put reaction wheels inside a MK3 cargo bay
I don't know if you knew this or not, but for extremely precise changes over interplanetary distances, manually lower the thrust power of each of your engines all the way down to 1. That way you have more power over the exact desired periapsis height you want for your target destination.

Patrylec Kuldan Invest some cash in a PC if it's really that bad. Kerbal can be played with a rather cheap setup (unless you have over 100 mods like I do). I even managed to get it working on my old laptop, with an average of 40FPS. That laptop cost £280.

A single nuke with just enough wing and just enough oxidizer and nothing else. That's a pretty ideal SSTO.

matt you should make a rocket (because I hate SSTO's) without nuclear engines to laythe with the payload of a single base (land please because I pretty sure you don't want to make ANOTHER sea base :/)

Hey guys, why does everyone seem to use the mk1 inline cockpit with a nose cone? isn't the regular mk1 cockpit basically that?
My SSTOs can't even get to LKO. You should go work at SpaceX. Or NASA, for that matter.
I put my chutes in the same place but just on top of the plane and deploying them while flying doesn't cause the nose to dip down or up. I just slow down evenly and perfectly.

You should build a rocket with upside down staging. Meaning when the fueltank ist empty, the upper part of the rocket gets detached.
