It does! Nowadays, its better to implement this with geometry nodes, using planes with a black and white texture. This way you will have good performance
@ Sorry, I was still a blender noob back then, I didn't know how to change the color of the color ramp. It was just black and white. I learned how to already

Hrm. The flat option on the render tab in blender 3.0 seems to be missing, and so the normals for the blades of grass are still rounded when I follow this tutorial. Does anyone have a workaround at all?

Not sure what you meant, the flat options is still there
The tutorial is very good, but you need to show better what you are doing. The screen is so small that I could not see what you were doing, especially in the shading mode.

for some reason, the grass shows red in colour at some places and green in the other although colour ramp is all green shades, how can i fix it?
I have never seen that. Check the nodes again
